Volume 6 Chapter 17 Extra - The Father Watching Over His Daughter

Volume 6 Chapter 17 Extra - The Father Watching Over His Daughter

 I'm traveling with Frederica.

After a bath, I'm in the living area of the room I'm staying at.

Using my Communication Magic Item, I call my daughter, Henrietta.

'Pa──nnn... Wh-what is it, Father? I'm fine, nothing's wrong here.'

 ...Good grief.

 Just like I thought.

From the sound of her voice, I can tell she's panicking.

 "Etta."

It'd be easy to intervene right now.

But I've retired and passed on the Guildmaster position to her.

 And she's proud of that.

The fact that she's not asking for help means she's doing her best to handle things on her own.

I don't want to interfere with that.

 "How's Lawrence doing?"

 'Eh, ah... well, he's fine.'

"I see. If anything comes up, you can rely on him."

 '! P-Papa...!'

 "That's all. Good luck."

 I hang up.

I use the Communication Magic Item again, this time calling Lawrence.

"It's me. ...Yeah. If my daughter reaches out, help her. Please."

 I hang up.

Now... I guess I'll check in with 2 or 3 more people.

 "Master, are you working?"

When I turn around, there's Frederica in a bathrobe.

 She sighs, clearly unimpressed.

"I was just talking with our daughter."

"I see. Well, don't go overboard with the doting, okay?"

 Frederica doesn't ask anything unnecessary.

She usually acts like she wants my attention all the time.

But at times like this, she's smart enough to read the room and not push it.

Still, since I know she's probably concerned, I'll say something.

"Etta and her friends will definitely solve the problem."

"Heh, is it because your eyes reflect that future?"

Frederica sits next to me and strokes my left eye.

 "No, I trust them."

My daughter, the Guild I built, and the young talents that are still rough around the edges.
