Volume 6 Chapter 18 Extra - Loyal Dog
After giving my daughter some advice, I sit on the couch and look outside.
The wall directly in front of the living room is made entirely of glass.
From there, I can see the view of the tourist spot.
The artificial light, created by magic tools, looks like a galaxy.
Frederica sits next to me and rests her head on my shoulder.
We silently watch the river of light created by the people.
It feels like it's expressing the nature of our relationship right now.
A great current in the world.
And from that, me, Frederica, and even Lawrence have been left behind.
As members of the older generation, all we can do is watch the new path they're creating from afar.
But I don't think that means we're fading away.
The generation has shifted along with its roles.
That's all.
"You."
Frederica looks at me and smiles.
I feel a slight sadness that she no longer calls me 'Master.'
But, even more than that, I feel happy that she has a special way of calling me, someone I love.
"What's with you, looking all like some retired old man? Your life's just getting started!"
Yeah.
...She's right.
It's not over yet.
I'd convinced myself it was.
"Don't die, okay?"
"Are you stupid? Of course not."
"I'm glad♡"
With a small sound, Frederica closes her eyes and puckers her lips.
She's probably trying to cheer me up in her own way.
Despite my sadness at retiring, she's saying there's more to come.
Honestly, even though I'm no longer her Master, here she is, by my side, trying to encourage me.
I press my lips against hers and then say,
"You're quite the loyal dog, huh?"
