Volume 6 Chapter 6 Extra - The Reincarnated Hero Meets the Retired Guildmaster
That day, a visitor arrived at Act's mansion.
A boy with red hair.
At a single glance, Act recognized him.
"Long time no see, Lawrence."
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!"
The boy, barely ten, bursts in with a grin, lightning fast.
Act sidesteps to avoid him.
Lawrence smashes through the wall and out of the house.
With a sigh, Act watches as Lawrence returns.
"You doing okay?"
"Yup! Super duper alive!"
"That's something," Act mutters.
Lawrence had died young after the battle with the Demon King.
Act suspected that reviving him had granted him that otherworldly power.
But as a cost, he met an early death.
"But who'd have thought you'd be reincarnated?"
"I was surprised too!"
They sit across from each other on the sofa set.
Frederica, Act's wife, appears with tea.
"Oh! Ms. Frederica! It's been a while!"
"It has been a long time, Mr. Lawrence. Now, it's Mr. Lauren, correct?"
"Yup! Changed my name and I'm adventuring again!"
Currently, Lawrence is active in Act's guild, Gem of Heavenly Gift.
"You're not causing trouble, are you?"
"Not at all!"
Act sighs again.
Frederica gives a wry smile.
"Henrietta seems to be having a hard time."
"Should be fine. Henrietta's our kid, after all."
"Well, that's nice to hear, Master."
Frederica genuinely chuckles, "Ufufu."
Act smiles faintly too.
Seeing the two, Lawrence's smile grows even wider.
"Mr. Act is smiling! Amazing! It must be thanks to Ms. Frederica!"
"Oh, really?♡ Hehe~! I'll overlook you breaking the wall!"
"Yes!"
After that, they shared stories, bringing back memories....
Lawrence decided it was time to leave.
Act, alone, walks him to the entrance.
"Lawrence"
"What is it, Mr. Act?"
Then, Act bowed his head to Lawrence.
Taken aback, the former Hero stumbles.
"I'm sorry. That you ended up like this... I knew."
Act can see the future.
He knew that Lawrence was burning through his lifespan, and that he would ultimately die──yet he allowed him to defeat the Demon King.
"What's that supposed to mean? I couldn't care less! I fulfilled my duty. I brought peace to the world. That's more than enough! Died, sure, but hey, I came back, didn't I?"
"I see," Act smiles.
Lawrence looks at that smile and speaks up.
"I always thought you, Mr. Act, should smile more!"
"Hm. I'll keep that in mind."
"Right! I'll be back!"
"Sure, come anytime."
And so, the reborn Hero took his leave.
