Volume 5 Chapter 36 The Sealed Dragon Tower and the Ambush

"...Is that the headquarters of the Order of the Sealed Dragon?"

"Yes. That's the 'Skyscraper Dragon Oboroas.' Its main body was sealed in 'Tower Form.'"

Ahead of the carriage stood a towering structure, shaped like a cylinder but topped with a dragon's head.

It was roughly 100 meters tall.

Though it was supposed to be a creature, it had neither wings nor arms.

It was a species with multiple forms, and it was literally 'sealed' when it became its dwelling.

"For a monster, this size is extremely rare."

 "But as a habitat, it's surprisingly human-like, isn't it? Dragons can't enter."

"Higher dragons can mimic humans, so its true purpose is actually 'a habitat for higher dragons.'"

 "Ah, I see."

"It was sealed about 1,800 years ago. The Order of the Sealed Dragon was formed around the time Oboroas was born."

"That period... might be the 'Great Summoning Era.'"

"Yeah. I don't know what happened then either... probably even this old lady doesn't know."

"That's right. This one haven't been told either."

 "...?"

Horace, Ginji, and Artia exchanged reactions, echoing each other's words.

However, Nousa didn't seem to know much about that history. She knew she was connected to the Order of the Sealed Dragon, but she likely didn't understand the full story.

She tilted her head, but the three of them didn't explain anything to her.

Still, Nousa had her own concerns, but now the focus was on Horace's story.

"Well then, the gates should be nearby. Since your main goal is the treasure vault, let's start the process to head there first, Horace."

"Yeah... but before that, things might get a bit tricky."

 "Huh?"

As Horace spoke, members of the Order of the Sealed Dragon jumped out from a mid-level floor inside the tower. They wore hooded cloaks and aimed bows and arrows at the group.

"Hmm, 'Special Ops' really isn't popular, huh."

"Special Ops, you guys? ...Well, fine, but are they pointing bows at us? I can clearly feel the killing intent."

 "Ah, they fired."

Despite Ginji's casual tone, arrows made of solidified magic power were aimed at the carriage wheels.

"Their archery skills are impressive. The weapons are high-quality too. As expected."

"Is this the time to be impressed, Horace?"

"It's definitely that kind of situation."

Horace pulled a pistol golem from his Item Box and fired bullets from the carriage window, shattering the incoming arrows.

 "That's incredible accuracy."

"Not a single shot missed. Wonderful."

Ginji looked amazed, and Artia seemed impressed.

"So, what should we do? Some guys with swords and staves have appeared."

"They're clearly intent on killing us."

When the swordsmen landed, they began surrounding the carriage.

"What should I do? Fight everyone?"

"Probably easier if we fight them after all."

"Then let's do that, Ginji. My horse, please stop for a bit."

At Horace's request, the horses pulling the carriage slowed down and stopped immediately.

Confirming this, Horace got off the carriage.

"Well then, let's hear the situation for now."

Horace walked over to them with an exasperated expression.

"...Big brother, you're so calm even when your life is being targeted."

"Well, Horace was killed once 12 years ago and revived with a resurrection item, so he's a monster. He probably accepts the idea that he could be killed without complaint."

"He'll resist too, but basically, he doesn't get angry at getting attacked or anything."

"I've never seen big brother get angry, to begin with."

 ""Me neither.""

Though they'd only known him briefly, Ginji and the others understood Horace's mindset.

Simply put, 'He generally doesn't want to argue about things that are already decided, but will resist if it's to his disadvantage.'

He had traits typical of a monster, unashamed to show them anywhere.

And in this world, killing monsters is considered acceptable.

That's why trying to kill him doesn't really matter, and he can do as he pleases.

However, just as attacking monsters in the natural world results in a counterattack, attacking Horace will also result in a counterattack.

That's all there is to it.

"...Come to think of it, it was already revealed that he has part of Gai Gigant and Zeth Halcon's power. There's a possibility they're aiming for that..."

"Well, but... those people can't beat big brother."

 "That's true too."

 Conclusion.

 It's not dangerous or anything.
