Volume 5 Chapter 45 [Cross Palace SIDE] The Legendary Dragons Speak At The Tavern

 Cross Palace

This place made by God of Sealing, Shildress. It where souls go after dying. It stop souls from being born again.

There five square areas shaped like a cross.

The town and even nature is made again here. It nice place for all creatures to live.

Here, fighting got no meaning. Not banned, just... death not real in this place.

Even though it's called a palace, it got a sky inside. It got daytime and nighttime too.

"Oh, big bro. You really drinking here again."

"Zethar... what the hell did you bring now?"

Normally, nighttime is when creatures sleep. But here, lots of tech stuff came together, so food is everywhere.

There many spots around, with stuff from farming and gathering. So now, there tech to cook and make things.

Basically, no shortage of snacks for drinks. So at night, taverns always got someone inside.

And in this palace, lots of people got nothin' to do.

 "Shaved ice."

"You brought that as drink snack?"

"Anything goes at Observation Deck Restaurant."

 "...I don't think that's right..."

Palace got night. Look up, you see stars.

But they fake. It a big, giant planetarium.

Like 400 years ago, there only one fake moon up there. Now, way better.

"But... shaved ice, huh. Where you buy that?"

"Before coming back, I was at Jewel City Lapis. Lucia was selling it with a shaved ice machine. Big line, so I lined up too."

 "She's gonna feel sore tomorrow."

 "Hahaha, same here."

Zethar put the shaved ice on the table.

 But the table small.

Already full with bottles and some flasks. A mini tasting party.

 "Can I drink too?"

 "Yeah, sure."

 Zethar poured himself a glass.

"By the way, I heard you rode a pirate ship."

"Yeah. Lucia drew a pirate flag, and Luster Report people made it and stuck it on the sail. If a ship got a skull, then it's a pirate ship."

 "..."

"Apparently Horace made all the ships. They worked good, but they looked like ones from 1,000 years ago."

 "──What?"

Zethar glanced at Gai, who peeked over when he came in. Then Gai kept reading, but now looked surprised.

Zethar sipped his drink. Didn't look like a joke. Must be true.

"'Pirate Ship Jolly Roamer' from the 'Cassiopeia Pirates'... name is dumb, but it was top tech back then. It looked just like the real deal. Like, scary level of same."

"...You think Horace studied the Dragonstone Kingdom and remade it?"

"Maybe. But his 'antenna' tech only good with iron stuff. Easier to build iron ship with leftover junk from Item Box."

"...He knows about the time limit, right?"

"You think he gonna sail across the crazy Ferl ocean, the Jeweled Ice Sea Domain, with some weird ship?"

 "Yeah. Might be a reason──"

 Zethar tilted his head.

"Hey, that story sounds fun. I'll join too."

 "Tera..."

Tera landed on the rooftop restaurant. His red hair bounced a little.

 "Just take the elevator up."

 "Too slow. Jumping better."

"So you been eavesdropping from below?"

 "Normal thing."

"Only for you... Haa, so, you want a drink?"

"Yep. Give me the best one... hmm? That flask. 'Blue Tears of the Dragon,' 400 years old. Hand it over."

 "...Sigh, here."

Gai picked it up and tossed it.

Tera caught it easy, opened it, and drank it straight.

 "Thanks for the drink."

 "I'm gonna hit you."

 "Huh? Wanna go, Zethar?"

"──Stop it. If you two mess around, the tower won't survive."

"That's what Gai saying. Too bad, Zethar."

"Just wait till you leave the palace."

 Zethar's eyebrow twitched.

But they all acted so chill, must be normal for them.

 "So, what you talking about?"

"The ship that looked like ones from 1,000 years ago, Tera."

 "That's not rare, right? Gai"

 "Not rare? No way."

"Zethar, if you didn't ask Horace about it, that means you didn't think it was that important, right?"

"...That's true. But later I got this weird feeling..."

"With your memory, you probably noticed the ship shape was the same after you left Horace."

"How you know that about me, big bro?"

"Ha ha ha, Zethar! After all, you are easy to read."

"Tera, I'm gonna hit you now──"

"Zethar, wait. Best time to punch will come later."

 "Huh, really, big bro?"

 "If I guessed right."

 "I see. Gonna enjoy it."

 Zethar grinned.

When that day comes, he probably gonna yell "Years of rage!" while throwing a punch.

Tera stared like "are you serious?" but then spoke.

"But you know, answer probably simple. The sea don't react unless ship made of wood. So people try make pirate ships as a game."

 "Huh, gotta be wood?"

"Ran told me that. He made that dungeon."

 "I see..."

At least now he got real info. But Zethar didn't like hearing it from Tera.

 His face twitched.

"Well, I always knew you kinda slow, Zethar. You only got strength from your parents, huh?"

 "That's right!"

"Don't say it proud like that."

"Big bro got more stuff. They say dad read lots of books, and big bro reads too."

 "You read, Zethar?"

 "I read manga, big bro."

"──Better than not reading at all."

Tera looked like he wanted a better answer. But Zethar level? That's normal.

"Hey, Laris. I barely read any books."

 "That's how legends are."
