Volume 5 Chapter 50 [('Sealing God')]

The audience hall was filled with clashing swords—Duran, the magic sword, against Shrinke, the divine sword.

Horace and Shildress fought fiercely, their skill pure sword technique.

They moved like flying sparks, danced like flames.

They fought like wild storms, raged like hurricanes.

"They call you a Sealing God, but your swordsmanship is impressive. Who taught you?"

"For me, sealing is the rules themselves. I copy other people's sword moves into 'chains' and bind them to myself. My body moves by those rules."

"Is that all? Not very exciting. Too bad."

 "You don't like it?"

"I don't mind gaining power from outside. My golem is like that."

"Someone who toys with a golem inside their skin says that?"

"The one who made your sword was rough too. But I think tools from outside should only have 'functions.'"

Horace held his gun-shaped golem tightly.

He didn't want the trigger controlled by something outside. The skill to aim and pull the trigger had to come from inside his own body.

No matter what happened before, he felt that truth clearly now.

"So, fighting with outside power is useless?"

 "!"

"Want me to show you the power of the Sealing God?"

Shrinking the divine sword's tip into the ground, Shildress called forth chains. They shot toward Horace.

Chains powered by the Sealed God.

Normally, just touching them was dangerous.

But Duran, the magic sword, roared silently at Horace, "Go!"

 "Ha!"

Horace swung Duran at the chains.

The chains broke apart on contact, falling in pieces.

"You attack my chains without fear... I see. We can talk."

"Talk? I feel like you're just barking orders."

 "Communication counts, right?"

 "Absolutely."

Horace cut down the chains one by one, keeping them away.

"If you touch a chain linked to this sword, you lose. I'll kick you out of this room. Try your best."

 "Heh, simple enough."

"But the chains' power is absolute. Once you touch, you can't move. And..."

More chains burst from the floor.

"The chains aren't all. My power creates the chains and turns them against you. It's specialized for that."

"So you seal an enemy's sword moves in chains and use them yourself. Playing around with tough steps, huh?"

"Exactly. I just turn the chains of sealing. That's all. Whether you beat it is up to you."

Chains surged toward Horace—a tsunami of iron rings.

Each ring had power to suppress Horace.

He swung Duran, cutting through them all.

"Not yet... there's something about Duran."

It wasn't just a function. Horace knew all of this, and the magic sword's power was always on.

It strengthened weapons from allies and copied their techniques constantly.

No new tricks left to use now.

 But the real question was—

How did he get magic sword Duran?

Horace felt this battle was tied to that question.

"Have you noticed? The origin of Duran—it's time to ask."

 "!"

"The Order of the Sealed Dragon used part of my power to seal a dragon."

 Shildress spoke calmly.

"Have you ever seen a warrior use 'the dragon's power'?"

"No, they fought with weapons made by the Order and sealing magic. Sealing also weakens enemies, making battles easier for gold and items."

Sealing magic kept the dragon locked.

Because of that, humans—weak in claws, poison, fangs—gained influence in demon lands.

They never killed dragons, only sealed them. When undone, dragons revived.

That's why no one faced the true power of the dragons.

"Where did you get magic sword Duran? Or rather, its power?"

"I see... A little more... just a little more."

 Shildress smiled.

 Horace understood.

"I know! It's power drawn out properly. This sword was made by the Order, but it's modeled after your divine sword, Shrinke."

 He swung Duran hard.

 Chains near shattered instantly.

"Weapons made by the Order came from sealed dragons, after all."

"Well, I gave them the power to seal and release dragons. No other great powers. They had to use that well. That's how magic sword Duran was made."

"Absorbing other weapons is sealing. Using the owner's power is releasing. I see, that was interpreted quite a bit."

"Such bold acts only work when gods are involved."

 "..."

"One dragon per weapon. If you use release on a weapon, it revives as a dragon."

 "..."

Now, Horace faced the real question.

What is this? How to beat it? That was the important thing.
