Volume 6 Chapter 18 Christy Flask' Temporary Return
Horace looked shocked.
After they beat the God of Provisions, Arzent, they gave ten medals to Horace. Then, they sat in the audience seats.
He didn't think he'd meet him here. Sid probably felt the same.
"I never thought we'd meet like this."
"Me neither."
Sid let out a long sigh.
"The new leader, Cain—he's amazing. He was hiding in a space people can't see. But we found him."
"How is that even possible?"
"Can't you do the same?"
"Maybe, with the right items. But it felt... normal?"
"Yeah, I think so too."
"Hah..."
Horace turned to Valzeil.
"That boy. Where did you find him?"
"We needed a new leader. So, we looked for one. We searched a village far away."
"A village?"
"It was a quiet place in the kingdom. Monsters had been showing up. People were hurt, but no one asked for potions. That felt strange."
"So you thought, 'Someone strong is there.'"
"Yes. We sent scouts. That's how we met Cain and Abel. We tested them. Their skills were amazing. Cain became the leader. Abel is his second."
It made sense now. Cain and Abel had been hiding in a remote place, so no one knew much about them. But Valzeil had noticed something off. And that small clue led them here.
"But I didn't expect such a pretty boy... Sure, there are handsome guys in the world. But he's special."
"Yeah. He looks more like an actor than a fighter."
Horace only looked at Cain, not Abel. Even one glance showed Cain was beautiful.
Cain was just 14. He was young, cheerful, and full of charm. He had the kind of face that could light up a whole stage. But he also had the skill to become the new leader.
Now, Cain had been chosen by Valzeil to enter the Blood Duel Cup.
And it was strange. A boy like that, appearing out of nowhere...
"The king said he can scare monsters on the 65th floor... But Cain?"
"He went to the 75th floor. He said it was fun."
"Fun...?"
He wasn't just strong. He was very strong.
"Horace could beat the final boss, though."
"Of course."
"...So this is the hero's teacher."
"Still, I won't hold back. What about you, Sid?"
"If I give it everything, I can beat him too. But Cain is no joke. Did you see his fights?"
"No, but the early rounds don't mean much."
"True."
Sid smiled a little.
"...So, is this what you want to borrow?"
Sid pulled ten medals from his pocket. The 'Christy Flask.'
"Yes. Only for the Blood Duel Cup. I can still fight without it. But not using it would be rude."
The 'Key of Pharos'—Sid's creation—was built with two others a hundred years ago.
If he went all-out, he'd need this tool.
He had skill and age. But this fight wasn't just for fun. It was serious.
Horace now used the power of the Flask as his own. If he gave it up, he'd better learn from Sid's way of using it.
Adventurers grow from battle.
After all, Sid and his team had made these medals through trial and error.
And if you don't understand why it was made, you can't use it well.
"Of course. But... don't lose too soon."
"Naturally."
Horace handed Sid the ten medals.
"Even with this power, there are tough fighters waiting. But I'll give it my best."
Horace wasn't alone.
Ivan had the magic sword Dark Matter and the sacred sword Yggdrasil.
Rivela held the Great Flame Sword Surtr.
Rangella carried the Dragon Silver Sword Tel Agatha.
And Sumeragi, the God of Iron-Cutting, stood ready.
Some fighters are too strong to beat just by memories. But that's no reason to give up.
"The Blood Duel Cup is near. There's no time for foul curses. Fight with all you've got."
"Are you... planning something, Your Majesty?"
"What do you think?"
"Heh..."
Horace smiled.
"So the next one's the real thing, Sid?"
"Yes. I still need to finish my training."
"Let's make it a good fight."
"This time won't be like the last."
"I know."
Deep in the Great Mine of the Gold World, Sid and Horace would fight again.
Last time, they didn't go all-out. They were preparing to fight Calamityshade Dragon Terra Disas.
But this time, it would be different.
And that made it all the more fun.
