Volume 3 Chapter 27 Sewer Construction III
Barvish was shocked by the scene that suddenly appeared in front of him. Until now, Cain had done things that were very unusual, but this was different. If Cain used his power in a war, he could dig underground from a hidden place and move forward without being noticed. He could create a space like the one they were seeing under the enemy's city or fortress and easily destroy it.
(I wonder how much Sir Cain knows about his own power?)
Barvish, sweating, stared at Cain, who was hitting a column.
"Sir Cain, this is amazing! I've never seen such a big space or building before!"
Gardy, excited, pointed at the space with a slightly louder voice.
"Gardy, calm down, your voice is echoing a lot."
Cain covered his ears to block the loud echoing sound.
"S-sorry!"
Gardy, looking smaller than his big body, apologized in a quiet voice.
"It's okay, it was just a bit loud. But I used too much energy at once, so I'd like to rest. Can we have lunch early?"
Cain, rubbing his stomach, looked up at Gardy.
"I'll prepare it right away. Barvish! Don't just stand there, help me!"
Cain called out to Barvish, who was watching from a short distance away.
Gardy took out a thick mat and a basket with lunch from his backpack and set them down. Barvish took out a set of tea that smelled nice.
"Sir Cain, sorry, but can you pour hot water into this pot?"
Cain, sitting on the mat Gardy laid out, said "Alright" and filled the pot with water.
"Ah, this is delicious. Barvish, your tea is getting better, isn't it?"
After drinking the tea, Cain shared his thoughts.
"Thank you. Today's lunch is ham sandwiches and egg sandwiches."
Gardy opened the basket and placed a box of sandwiches in front of Cain.
"I did it! I love egg sandwiches because they're so tasty. I'm going to eat now!"
Cain took an egg sandwich and took a bite.
"It's delicious! Today's egg sandwich has a strong flavor and goes well with the tea."
Cain smiled widely while eating the sandwich.
(Looking at him, he seems like a normal kid...)
Barvish sighed quietly while watching Cain eat.
"What? Barvish?"
Feeling embarrassed for being watched while eating, Cain asked Barvish a question.
"No, I was just thinking about what you'll do after the break."
Barvish tried hard to stay calm.
"Well, if I just put water here, it will soak in because the ground is rough. So I want to use [Earth Press] to make it smooth and stop the water from soaking in."
"Stop water? Huh?"
Barvish, not quite understanding, replied vaguely.
"When he says [Earth Press], I mean the magic we used when making the bath to send water through the pipes. It might stop the water from soaking in."
Gardy murmured, maybe remembering the water pipes from the bath they made before.
"Yes, I was thinking of using [Earth Press] on the whole area here."
""Eh, the whole area?!""
Again, their voices matched. Surprised, they both looked around.
"It's fine. For some reason, I can picture it perfectly. As long as the energy flow doesn't stop, I think it will work all at once."
Cain replied, acting like he didn't understand why they were surprised.
After lunch, Cain focused his mind and started using his energy. As he thought about the space, it felt like watching a clear video, and he could see the area in his mind. Cain spread the energy from his hand on the ground, making it grow little by little. Once the energy covered the space, Cain said the magic words.
"[Earth Press]"
Cain said the spell, and the whole space glowed softly. When the light faded, the space turned into a smooth surface like marble.
