Volume 3 Chapter 41 Sewer Completion

Volume 3 Chapter 41 Sewer Completion

Since the sewer system began operating, Cain and his team have been busy. They were slowly connecting the town's existing toilets to the system, but no matter how many they connected, the work seemed endless. After all, with a population of about 5,000, even if there was one toilet for every 5 people, that's still 1,000 toilets. Plus, there were drainage openings on the roads, cafeteria drains, and more... In short, it was a lot of work.

"Ugh, I can't take it anymore. Every day, digging holes, drawing magic circles, digging holes, drawing magic circles... I'm so tired. I just want to go home."

Cain was unusually complaining about the work.

"Sir Cain, while it's understandable that you're venting, doesn't staying in the bath for too long just make your fatigue worse?"

Barvish pointed this out while washing himself at the washing area.

Cain and his team finished their work for the day, returned to the mansion, and headed straight to the first bath. Since it was still early, before dinner, only Cain, Barvish, and Gardy were in the bath.

"I know, but I'm still a 7-year-old child. Is it so bad to complain a little? I can't even drink alcohol yet."

Cain muttered this, then exhaled deeply and submerged himself in the bath.

"Indeed, it's easy to forget, but Sir Cain is still 7 years old. When you think about it, we should probably hire another Earth magic user besides Sir Cain."

Gardy replied to Cain's complaints as he entered the bath.

"I do think hiring another Earth magic user is necessary, but... it's not common to find someone who can do what Sir Cain does."

Barvish also washed himself and entered the bath.

"Ugh, I'll manage with the old town, but for the new town, I want to find an Earth magic user other than me. Hmm, I'll ask Grandpa about it."

Cain, who somehow revived, stood up with a splash.

When Cain and the others came out of the bath, Randolph was waiting for them.

"Sir Cain, I apologize for disturbing you when you're tired, but Sir Luke is calling for you."

"Huh, Father Luke? I wonder what it's about? I've finished the abacus calculations for this month..." Cain thought as Randolph led him to the office.

"Excuse me, it's Cain. I was told you were calling for me."

Cain knocked on the office door and waited for permission to enter.

 "Cain, come in."

A voice from beyond the door granted permission for Cain to enter.

When Cain opened the heavy office door, Luke, as usual, was waiting for him with a large pile of documents on his desk, working.

(Huh? He looks more tired than 2 or 3 days ago?)

"I was told you were calling for me?"

Cain asked the somewhat worn-out-looking Luke the reason for the summons.

"Cain, sorry to bother you when you're busy, but I have a favor to ask. You made a toilet seat in the mansion, right? The merchants coming and going have asked if they could buy it."

"What!? Why would they want something like that?"

"Hmm, it seems that the reason is that it was significantly easier to use than previous toilets. Well, I guess since Lydia also liked it, I can't really refuse."

Luke spoke while recalling his experience with the mansion's toilet.

"I see. Fine, but please tell me the deadline and the quantity. Recently, I've only been doing the same kind of work, so I'll make it as a change of pace."

After a moment of thought, Cain readily agreed to make the toilet.

"Sorry, please check the deadline and quantity with Randolph."

Randolph replied, "Yes," and immediately began talking with Barvish.

"Father Luke, you look tired. Are you okay?"

"Hmm, sorry. Recently, the work has doubled. But it's almost over, so I think I can manage. Also, once the new town's construction and relocation start, it'll get even busier, so compared to that, it's still not that bad."

"It doesn't really solve the fundamental issue, but I want to make things easier for you, so [Heal]."

Cain approached Luke and restored his stamina.

 "Oh, Cain. Thank you."

The [Heal] seemed to work, as Luke looked slightly more energetic.

"Father Luke, please take care of yourself."

Cain said this to Luke and then left the office.
