Volume 3 Chapter 51 Let's Look At The Magic Tool House
After finishing the inspection of the main road, Cain and the others moved on to the next location: the market street. As expected, signs of repairs were visible in several places there as well.
"Sir Cain! Welcome back. Please take this, it's delicious."
A street vendor handed Cain an apple.
As Cain walked further down the market street, several citizens called out to him and offered him fruits for sale.
"Sir Cain, you're quite popular, aren't you?"
Doughton smiled cheerfully as he approached.
"Is that so? I hope so."
Cain answered bashfully.
"Well then, let's head to the magic tool shop now."
Doughton guided Cain by pointing toward their destination. After following Doughton for a while, they turned a couple of times, and the food shops gave way to stores selling daily necessities and other goods.
Among them, Cain spotted a store with all sorts of strange tools lined up outside. This seemed to be the magic tool shop Doughton had mentioned.
"This is the magic tool shop 'Cradle of the Stars' that I'd like to introduce to you."
"Oh, is this it? I wonder what kind of things they have?"
Cain opened the door and entered the store. The shop was quite spacious but a little dim. Various tools overflowed from shelves and boxes, and despite the large interior, there was barely any space to walk except for the direct path to the counter.
"Oh, Doughton, is that you? It's been a while. What brings you here today? Oh, you have a guest with you. Welcome!"
A kind-looking elderly woman with purple hair, sitting behind the counter, greeted them.
"Ms. Merida, it's been a long time. Today, I brought a special guest. This is Sir Shamrock."
After greeting the elderly woman Ms. Merida, Doughton proudly introduced Cain.
"Oh, my, Sir Shamrock, welcome! I'm very sorry for the small space of the shop. I hope you find something to your liking."
Ms. Merida came out from behind the counter and bowed slowly to Cain.
"Hello, Ms. Merida. Today I heard Mr. Doughton mention various magic tools, so I came to see. Please let me look at them. Also, please call me Cain."
Cain responded with a gentle smile and greeted Ms. Merida.
"I've heard about you before, but someone of your age becoming a knight is remarkable. I want my grandchildren to learn from you. Well then, what kind of magic tools are you looking for today?"
"Well, there are various, but first, I'd like to buy some magic tools to boil water. Also, if there's a magic tool to make ice, I'd like to purchase it."
Cain explained the purpose of his visit.
"Hmm... There are several magic tools to boil water, but only one to make ice. I'll go look for it, so please give me some time."
Ms. Merida looked up at the ceiling thoughtfully and then went inside the shop to search for the tools.
"Sir Cain, Sir Cain. This is a quite impressive magic tool shop. Please look at this──it's a magic tool that creates wind, which was popular in my hometown. This one, if I remember correctly, is a magic tool that sharpens blades in one go. There are various magic tools made in different countries."
The usually calm Barvish explained the magic tools he found, somewhat excited.
"Huh, since there are so many, I thought there might be some treasure among them, but this is an even more amazing magic tool shop than I expected."
Cain looked over the tightly arranged magic tools on display or stored somewhere, replying.
"Thank you for waiting, Sir Cain. How about these magic tools?"
Ms. Merida, holding four magic tools in both hands, appeared from inside the shop and placed them on a table beside the counter.
She explained that three of the tools were for heating water, and one could make ice. The three heating tools were: a cassette stove-shaped 'magic stove' powered by moving a magic stone, a 'magic pot' with water inside that boils when Mana flows through it, and a 'magic rod' that directly produces hot water. The ice-making tool was similar to the 'magic rod,' called an 'Ice Rod,' which is a magic staff.
"Wow, there are so many different kinds. Hmm, I want to buy them all, but they seem expensive..."
Cain muttered while looking toward Barvish. Barvish quietly averted his gaze.
