Volume 5 Chapter 12 Let's Go To Pick You Up III

When Cain and the others appeared through teleportation, Zain walked over. Behind Zain, several elves stood waiting, with a few carriages lined up behind them.

"Sir Cain, long time no see. As expected... but it's still a little unexpected to see John with you."

Zain greeted Cain with a smile.

"Sorry, it's hard to stay silent... but I suppose it's expected from your side as well."

"That's right. The incident from the other day spread around, so... since it's a bit impolite to talk here, would you mind coming to the chief's mansion? My father—no, the chief—wants to speak with you again."

"Understood. Please lead the way. I'll go explain to Margrave Shield."

"No, John... no, I'll handle the explanation to Margrave Shield. So, Sir Cain, could you please ride in a different carriage with the others?"

Zain said this as he pointed to a carriage. Cain, Luke, and Lydia boarded the same carriage. Once everyone was aboard, the carriage slowly began to move.

"Cain? Was the elf we were talking about earlier Mr. Zain?"

Luke asked, as though he had been waiting for the carriage to start moving.

"Yes. That person is from the chief's family of the World Tree Forest. Mr. Zain, a high elf."

Cain responded to Luke's question with a nod.

"I met him once before marrying Luke, but as expected, elves really don't change at all."

Lydia murmured quietly, echoing Cain's answer.

"Then why? Why are we riding in a carriage to move? According to Cain, we were supposed to return quickly. Well, we do have things to talk about with Mr. Zain, so I guess it's fortunate."

Luke scratched his chin and tilted his head.

"Father, it's probably because I injected Mana into the World Tree."

Luke muttered, "Ah, that incident..." as if remembering something.

"So, does that mean Cain will be rewarded for this?"

"I think so, Lydia. Maybe they'll offer Cain some position and ask him to stay."

 Luke replied to Lydia's prediction.

"But I'm already a noble of the Floral Kingdom, so I should be able to avoid that. If it turns into a difficult discussion, let's ask Grandfather."

"That's right. Cain hasn't even reached adulthood yet, so I won't allow you to live in another country. It's already hard enough not being together lately."

Lydia agreed in a slightly firm tone. The latter part held her personal feelings, but both Luke and Cain listened silently.

After a while, the carriage carrying Cain and the others passed through the mist barrier and entered the town of the World Tree Forest. Luke and Lydia were surprised by the scenery outside the carriage window and the elves walking through the town. Cain, too, had been just as surprised when he first visited, so he muttered to himself, "It's normal to be surprised, right..."

After advancing through the village for a while, the carriage stopped in front of the chieftain's treehouse. The door opened, and they stepped out. An elf in a butler's outfit appeared and said, "I will guide you inside," then gestured the way forward. It seemed that the carriage carrying Margrave Shield and the others had arrived earlier and was already out of sight.

Cain and the others were led into a reception room that resembled a conference room. No one else was inside yet, and the elf butler said, "Please wait here for a moment," before leaving the room. A large table stood in the center, with eight elegant, comfortable chairs placed neatly on one side.

Luke, Lydia, and Cain took their seats, leaving two spots open at the head of the table. An elf maid soon arrived and served them Aromatic Tea. While they waited and sipped the tea, Mr. Zain arrived, leading in Margrave Shield, Aisha, and then the chieftain, Mr. Dadana, along with Ms. Salina.

Margrave Shield and Aisha sat at the head of the table, while Mr. Dadana and the others sat across from them. Then, a moment later, an elf woman wearing the same robes as the Third High Jurist Gagana from the World Tree Shrine entered and quietly took her seat.

Cain, feeling a growing unease, sipped the Aromatic Tea while glancing around at the people in the reception room. "What will be demanded of us now..." he wondered.
