Volume 1 Chapter 58-2 Genderbend Female Knight, Night Raid
Prince Louis took his position again and raised his shield.
"Did you defeat Godefroy?"
"His Highness, Lord Robin, also... to this woman..."
Including the reason why Ashreach soldiers were trampled and killed, it's clear that out of the 12 Sacred Blades brought, 3 were defeated by a single knight.
"I never thought it would come to this, Catherine. We'll finish her off here."
"Ha!"
"──Damn, if I had killed him with the first attack, this would've been easier."
Eleonora spat, then pointed her magic sword at the two.
"Eleonora di Kamitafira will face you."
Louis and Catherine clenched their right hands tightly around their swords.
"I must bring your head, or I can't face my sister!"
Catherine thrust her shield forward and charged, but Eleonora pushed both shield and sword away with her magic sword.
In that moment, Louis leaped to Eleonora's right and slashed, but Eleonora swung her left foot out, knocking him down.
"Your Highness! Outward!"
While Catherine lunged at Eleonora to hold her back again, Louis left the tent. Outside, the formation was broken, and the Loriengita main camp was being overrun by Huskarls and light infantry.
"Protect His Highness's main camp!"
A few hundred troops that had besieged the royal capital rushed in to help.
At that moment, Louis decided to restore order amidst the chaos.
The Loriengita soldiers rushing to reinforce were cut down by a gust of wind.
The wind carried stones and gravel, striking them at high speed, causing wounds, and some were hit in the head, bleeding.
"The first guard knight regiment of the Kingdom of Ashreach is here!"
As soon as he shouted, armored knights burst out, slaughtering Loriengita soldiers with single sword strokes.
"My name is Leonardo! Leonardo, the Tempest Gale!"
From behind, about 30 more knights arrived—the elite of the first guard knight regiment.
"Though few, we have come to support the brave warriors charging into the enemy's main camp!"
Fully armed knights are no match for lightly armed swordsmen who prioritize speed.
The hope that had finally sprouted was cut down right in front of Louis.
Catherine, blown away from the canopy, collided with him. The culprit was, of course, Eleonora.
"Gah!"
Normally, the battlefield ignores disrespect to a lord unless it's an insult, but Eleonora's magic sword pierced Catherine, who jumped up without apologizing.
Barely responding, her shield was more than halfway penetrated. Catherine dropped her sword, gripping the blade in her bleeding palm.
"Your Highness! Please run away! I'll hold this monster here with my life!"
Turning away from Catherine, Louis ran toward the reinforcements.
It was clear there were still soldiers ahead and other formations beyond.
Even in the darkness, if they kept running relentlessly, they could regain their footing.
(Did I get caught in a weird situation?)
Catherine held her head, trying to pull out the blade, but it was no use. Tottnok couldn't be pulled from the shield.
Given time, it might be possible, but was there really time to spare with the female knight resisting, her hair disheveled, right in front of her?
"I will avenge my sister here!"
"Who cares, die."
Watching Catherine, whose eyes were bloodshot and fixed only on her, and the shadows approaching behind her, Eleonora spat.
"Even Lord Godefroy isn't enough, now even Lord Robin!"
"If you don't want to die, don't come to the battlefield."
"You beast, who do you think you're talking to!"
"I'm acting as a knight proxy, so I'll do as I please. Kill him, grandfather."
The sound of wind cutting through the air was heard from behind Catherine, and Adalbert's spear pierced her left thigh.
Wincing from the severe pain, Catherine, now kneeling, grabbed the spear aimed at her throat and stopped it.
"Attacking me from behind!"
"There's no time, die quickly."
Eleonora kicked Catherine's back with all her might. As Catherine flew forward, the spear pierced her throat.
Adalbert twisted his wrist, pushed her to the ground, pulled back his spear, and finally thrust it into her eyeball.
The spear, reaching from the eye socket to the brain stem, caused Catherine to convulse once before falling silent.
Thus, the last hero of the Twelve Sacred Blades was slain by an old man with no name left in the world, and her corpse was left to lie in the mud.
Eleonora stepped on Catherine's corpse, pulled out the spear, and poured magic power into her arm to strengthen it.
Her aim was the same—Prince Louis, who was rushing by putting magic power into his legs.
And then, the spear was released.
He ran. Then sprinted. Then stumbled, gasping—still running.
Desperately fighting against the flowing scenery, or seeing soldiers panicking while fleeing.
The important thing was to survive, so Prince Louis ran.
Already, even the small stream of urine leaking out in terror felt like confirmation he was still alive and cherished.
However, the wind of death coming from behind cut off Prince Louis's right Achilles tendon.
Seeing his own foot pierced by the spear as he tumbled and rolled, Louis understood that Catherine was dead.
"I said I would take your head."
Raising his face with labored breathing, there stood that monster.
Eleonora di Kamitafira. The Grim Reaper come to harvest his life.
"W-wait! Are you interested in the status of Loriengita nobility?"
Words spilled out one after another, despite his thoughts not keeping up as he spoke unthinkingly.
"I have seen enough of your skill! I will recommend you for the Twelve Sacred Blades! At least to the rank of Count! If you let me go!"
"I'm not interested, go die."
However, such a last-ditch plea for life was meaningless.
Eleonora drew Catherine's elegant Falchion and slashed at Louis's throat.
"Eleonora di Kamitafira has slain Prince Loriengita! Loriengita soldiers, be sure to see this head!"
She snatched the axe from Erik, who caught up, cut off Louis's head from his corpse, and held it up amidst thunder.
"Your royal family has been defeated by me! When you return to your country, you will be decapitated regardless of nobility or commoner!"
The Loriengita army, which had been approaching closely, halted their march, hesitated briefly, and then began to retreat.
The direction was not toward Loriengita, but toward the Rorch region in the northern part of the country.
"Brave Ashreach soldiers! Look! The invaders have miserably retreated! Because you fought with your lives on the line! Let's raise a victory cry!"
"Long live the Kingdom of Ashreach!"
"Long live Eleonora!"
"Cheers for our heroes!"
"Hold your chests high! The time of triumphant return has come!"
