Volume 8 Chapter 24 Blazing Wrath

Volume 8 Chapter 24 Blazing Wrath

 "...Are you joking me?"

Tsuchimikado keenly felt the cold sweat running down.

In modern Japan, Asura is a famous god, used in various idioms. Though known as a god of war with a fierce image, in reality, Asura was a god of justice. It is said that he quarreled with Taishakuten over his daughter and was expelled from the heavenly realm.

From origin to anecdotes, he is a god.

Without a shred of doubt, a god.

He is right in front of him. It's easy to dismiss him as just a doll, but there is an unyielding pressure from the current Asura.

It's a dimension beyond the reach of mere "Mystery" and humans.

Tsuchimikado, who has confronted various entities as an Anti-Demon Official, understands this. It is the divinity that the land god harbors, something beyond that.

 It can be understood logically.

God cannot manifest in the real world. It is an antiquated myth, a fictional existence. No one seriously imagines it appearing.

On the contrary, it can exist within fiction.

It can manifest within this domain, a limited existence. Like a hidden technique.

 "Well, that's just cheating."

 This is already a cheat.

Not from Asura, but the entire lobby resounded with a mechanical opportunity sound.

'Do you understand? This is the power of Spiritual Penetration Art (Shinrei), 'Fairy Game'. The world of the impossible. Good for you, encountering true gods is not something that happens often.'

"Maybe I could have been genuinely happy if it weren't for the current situation. I didn't expect Yuusuke-kun not to come, is this the reason?"

'Correct. I targeted Echidna over there. Even Yamamoto Yuusuke, once trapped in this world, has no chance of winning.'

 ――Echidna.

The Greek Mythology's most terrifying monster. It is a big name as formidable as Asura. If it were to appear in reality, it could bring about a calamity that could destroy not just a country, but a whole continent.

There is no hope for assistance. Tsuchimikado and Yuusuke are currently facing a boss that they can never defeat, as if assigned by the Game Master. There is no chance of winning once trapped in this world. Sakaki said so, and it was not wrong. If they were to defeat her, they had to strike before activating "Our Story" (Fairy Game).

Humans cannot defeat a true god. This is the truth, the absolute truth. It's not even a comparison between ants and lions. Characters drawn on paper cannot be killed.

In this case, the character is Tsuchimikado. Their very dimensions of existence are different. So, should I give up? Tsuchimikado thought so while wielding a nodachi.

"Bah, truly the fortune of a magician. It is rare to come across a human who clashes with the true gods and their blades, even in the vast world with its long history."

He has no intention of borrowing power. If he's to do it, he will sever that head.

As a respectable magician, Tsuchimikado's face lit up with genuine delight upon seeing Asura, who would make anyone faint just by looking at it.

* * *

When Tsukiko arrived at her childhood home, she immediately sensed that something was happening.

This was because the spacious mansion was engulfed in a brilliant and vivid light.

It didn't take long for her to realize that it was rising flames.

 "Uh...!"

Tsukiko rushed through the broken gate and ran towards the mansion.

The elegantly arranged garden had been reduced to a pitiful sight, scorched and the mansion was still burning while emitting black smoke.

"Is anyone there? Is there no one?"

She shouted as she jumped into the midst of the flames, but there was no response. The Isumi family was large. Many people, including the servants, always lived there.

Had they managed to evacuate, or...

The worst scenario crosses her mind, and her grip tightens around the spear.

While deflecting the falling debris with electrifying speed, Tsukiko advances further. The room is already shrouded in smoke, making it difficult to maintain clear visibility.

"Why? What are my big sister and brother doing?"

The magicians in the main house of the Isumi family are all skilled individuals. No matter how much they are under attack, they shouldn't easily be defeated.

This place should be a safe haven, second only to the Anti-Magic Special Forces Headquarters.

However, the reality before her eyes denies that belief.

As she watches the crumbling room, she can't help but feel a strange emotion.

This house doesn't hold beautiful memories. It is a place filled with harshness, hostility, and loneliness.

After vomiting blood from intense training and enduring harassment from the siblings in the main house, there have been countless moments when she wished for this house to crumble.

She never expected a hero to come and rescue them. Rather, she genuinely wished for a gigantic monster to come and crush everything.

But despite this being the expected state of this house, seeing it engulfed in flames like this tightens her chest.

Did she has some genuine human feelings left in her, or did she feel pity?

As she thought so, Tsukiko passed by her room. It was already engulfed in flames, with only red light visible inside.

 "..."

Without stopping, Tsukiko continued. The likely target of the assailant was Isumi Tengai, head of the Isumi family, always in the innermost room. Tengai, the former Anti-Demon Official of the first rank, was Tsukiko's magic mentor, and his prowess was well-known.

Regardless of the attacker, defeating Tengai wouldn't be easy. Tsukiko reached the room without encountering any foes or mansion residents. Just recently, she had spoken with Tengai in this very place. Flames surrounded them, dyeing the room in a deep red.

But there, Tsukiko witnessed two things.

There's a small something sinking in a pool of blood. It's covered in a kimono resembling a juunihitoe, but its contents cannot be seen. The vibrant kimono, which should be colorful, is a deep black even in the light.

And there are two figures. One man is gripping someone's neck.

The one being held is covered in fire and blood, showing no signs of resistance.

The one being held is Isumi Tengai.

The small something must be Isumi Kanra.

In the midst of this hellish flame, the lone attacker, still holding Tengai, looked this way.

He was a young man with slicked-back blond hair. The earrings dangling from his ears reflected the flickering light of the fire, shining brightly.

"Oh? There's still a survivor, huh?"

And he casually dropped Tengai onto the floor, as if throwing away garbage.

In that moment, something snapped inside Tsukiko.

 "You bastaaaarrrrddddd!!!"

Kinraishou (Golden Thunder Spear) spread its twin prongs like fangs, clashing with the thunder.

A blinding flash, as if extinguishing flames, roared in expression of Tsukiko's anger.
