Volume 8 Chapter 25 The Curse Of The Beast

Volume 8 Chapter 25 The Curse Of The Beast

The strongest fortress battling against the "mystery," the Anti-Demon Special Forces Headquarters, exploded from within.

Not only the lobby, but almost a third of it shattered from the impact, and sand dust and fragments were violently scattered around.

It was a miracle that it hadn't completely collapsed. Tsuchimikado jumped out from the midst of the sand smoke.

More than half of his HP bar had been depleted, and blood was dripping down from his forehead.

It had been about three minutes since his encounter with Asura.

Tsuchimikado, who was just an ordinary human, was still alive.

(This is beyond absurd. Are gods in the mythological system truly this insane?)

Thirty seconds after Asura's appearance, the first thing Asura did was raise a war cry.

Or perhaps, it was the cry of its birth.

Just from that alone, nearly a third of Tsuchimikado's HP bar vanished.

Despite having defended himself, he received a shock as if his head had been struck, and consciousness began to fade.

For Tsuchimikado, who sought to hold the title of the strongest in the First Rank, it was a shock after a long time.

Just by speaking, people die. Just by taking a step, a city crumbles.

That is what a god is.

Rarely does something known as knowledge become such a vivid experience etched into the brain.

Tsuchimikado, pondering over that unknown experience, readied his cracked field sword. Just by muttering, this situation occurs.

Aware that the vessel may break, he infused magic power and swung.

 "'Keppuuhane Uchiwa (Bloodstorm Feather Fan)'"

A crimson whirlwind whistled and tore through the sandstorm. As expected, the blade, unable to withstand the excessive magic power, completely shattered.

The reason for this was the excessive magic power. Despite the extraordinary capabilities of the compound armament created from the Great Tengu and Kamaitachi, allowing it to shred vampires into pieces without hesitation.

However, Asura, who appeared from within the sandstorm, was unscathed. Their HP bar floating above their head hasn't decreased even a bit.

They probably didn't defend or evade at all.

Simply put, the firepower of the "Bloodstorm Feather Fan" is not enough.

"It's as if I can't even cut through a single layer of skin."

It feels like being forced to fight the final boss at level one. In a game, you could accept it as a losing event and give up, but there are no such relief measures here.

Tsuchimikado, who was about to take out a new card, noticed that Asura was about to make a new move.

They had an arrow attached to a bow as tall as an electric pole. The contraction of their magic power was so intense that it couldn't be ignored. That arrow was emitting a light that was almost as bright as the sun.

And while preparing this, their three mouths opened.

"'Charaku Issha (One Arrow Victory Shot)'"

 The arrow was released.

 "‼︎"

When Tsuchimikado was hit with an arrow, he used magic to wear "Inaba's Shiro Getta."

He kicked the ground with all his strength and ran away from that spot.

He had to escape. He couldn't even entertain the thought of defending himself or counterattacking. Using anything as a foothold, he distanced himself without looking back.

 And then it came.

The wave of destruction he felt behind him.

After jumping for who knows how long, he somehow landed on the rooftop of a building and looked back.

There, an unimaginable scene unfolded before him.

Everything in the line of fire had vanished.

The end of it was nowhere in sight. It probably reached the edge of the Magic Domain.

 "...Hahaha."

Only dry laughter escaped his lips. As limited as his existence was in this space, it was too absurd.

"How sad, how sad, beloved one."

 "Meaningless, meaningless, you insignificant being."

"In this garden, there is no place of peace, oh child of human."

The voice could be heard from just above.

 "Huh!?"

Tsuchimikado immediately jumped back. But Asura did not attempt to chase after him.

——This can't be true. I didn't notice at all.

Despite having such an abnormal presence, they approached without giving any indication.

They are not just a formidable existence. As a renowned battle god, each technique is exceptional.

"I guess there's no other choice."

Originally, he intended to use this in a full-scale war against the Try Order, but the situation does not allow me to hold back.

 Tsuchimikado took out a card.

This one is different from the Shikigami he has used so far. Just by holding it, it drains his magic power and his fingers tremble.

This is not a Shikigami meant to kill gods but a clear Shikigami meant to kill humans.

However, with the cards Tsuchimikado can currently use, if there is an existence that can oppose Asura, this is the only option.

Now, the power that seeks to devour the card from within, Tsuchimikado manifested it, reins in hand.

Dripping, magic power heavy and sticky like blood overflows from his hand, crawling up his arm towards his heart.

"Don't rejoice just because it's been a while, you unruly horse."

But Tsuchimikado restrains and controls it with his own magic power.

A Shikigami that, with one wrong step, could curse even his life. Killing people for pleasure, destroying countries in ecstasy, selfishly cursing the world.

In Tsuchimikado's hand appears a beautiful sword. It doesn't look like something for battle, with its elegant blade.

A bona fide youkai sword that drags observers into the cycle of pleasure and despair, the true reincarnation.

 The inscription reads 'Sesshomaru.'

In various parts of the world, a sword was forged by gathering scattered stones and mixing them with heart iron. To create this, a total of seventeen individuals, including the Tsuchimikado family's magicians and swordsmiths of the time, are said to have perished.

The extraordinary tale can only be understood when one learns the name of the stone that served as the material.

The stone is called "Sesshouseki" (殺生石).

In the Heian period, a princess favored by Emperor Toba, Tamamo-no-Mae, or the wicked and unjust Daji who tilted the Chinese Yin dynasty.

The true identity is the most sinister enemy of humanity, the "nine-tailed fox youkai."

Sesshouseki is said to be a cursed stone left by the defeated Tamamo-no-Mae. In later years, it was shattered, and its fragments were said to be scattered throughout Japan.

The Tsuchimikado family sought to gather it and make it their own power.

The price paid by greed was excessively high, and most of the influential magicians of the time perished. Even in the long lineage of the Tsuchimikado family, no one capable of controlling this Shikigami has appeared to this day.

Yes, only Tsuchimikado Seirin can draw this sword. However, it's not fully controllable. Sesshomaru constantly spreads poison, and the moment it's drawn, those around are cursed to die.

Tsuchimikado himself is also slowly consumed by the curse. In fact, the HP bar had started decreasing gradually. Before his life expires, he will use this poison to kill Asura. Tsuchimikado gazes at the gods and quietly readies his sword.
