Volume 2 Chapter 26 Summer Plans Are Coming In Fast
It seems like I will be going to Comispa with Kashiyama-san during the Obon festival this year. We will buy doujinshi and do some cosplay together.
"Come to think of it, if Mayu-chan wants to go to Comispa, maybe we can go together."
I agreed with what Kashiyama-san said.
"Well, Shibata-san, if you are interested in 'swords,' you might want to join us on the first day."
Comispa lasts for three days. The first day is mostly focused on games, especially for men. However, there are also doujinshi for games that women like. The second day has more content that appeals to women, while the third day is mainly for men.
Most people think that Comispa is all about adult doujinshi on the third day. Anyway, I went to Shibata-san's place with Kashiyama-san.
"Hey, Shibata-san. Kashiyama-san and I are planning to go to Comispa on the first and second days during the Obon festival. Would you like to come with us?"
After hearing what I said, Shibata-san nodded and then apologized with a little bit of sadness.
"Um, sorry. It's a bit scary to suddenly join Comispa."
Kashiyama-san, who was listening, also nodded and said,
"Certainly, joining Comispa directly in the summer might be difficult. How about trying a smaller doujin event with Hata-kun first? Once you get a sense of the atmosphere, you can decide if you want to participate in Comispa again."
"Oh, Kashiyama-san? I don't think it's right for you to bring up my name without asking me. Well, for smaller events, they are held at places like Tokyo Wholesale Center in Asakusabashi, Tokyo bungukyowa Hall, also Tokyo Ryutsu Center in Heiwajima, and Sunshine City in Ikebukuro. Exploring these places and experiencing the atmosphere might be a good idea. You might even find Sword Love-themed events."
When I said that, Shibata-san's eyes started to shine, and she responded with excitement.
"Oh, so does that mean the main story is about the female judge, me (the player), and the swordman?"
"Yes, that's correct."
Even though it's a game made by fans for girls, it's not all about romantic relationships between men, or rather, I think there's probably more of this type of game.
"T-then, I'd like to attend."
Yeah, Shibata-san seems to be very likable after all.
Maybe Kashiyama-san is suggesting that I go with her instead of herself because their preferences, especially her strong liking for romantic stories between men, don't match.
"Well then, I'll try to find an event that seems good for us. If I find one, let's talk about the date on social media."
"Yes, thank you."
Kashiyama-san responds to my conversation with Shibata-san with a big thumbs up and a nice smile.
For now, I take out my planner and note down the event focused on sword love with Shibata-san.
Well, this Sunday, I'm going shopping with Fumi-chan, and next Saturday, I'm planning to go to Fumi-chan's school cultural festival, so it'll have to be next Sunday at the earliest.
While we were talking about it, Saikachi-san shyly came up to me.
"Um, I, I also want to go out with Hata-kun."
It was a bit surprising to hear that from her now, but Saikachi-san has helped me in different ways, so I couldn't say no, of course.
"Um, yeah, it's fine to go out with Saikachi-san, but do you have any ideas about what you want to do or where you want to go?"
Saikachi-san can handle things well, so it's not easy to tell if she has strong preferences.
"Um... I want to try watching the light of fireflies together."
"Firefly watching, huh. Yeah, sure, but I wonder if we'll make it to the Genji firefly viewing event at Funabashi Athletic Park... the time for watching there is really short. If not, the Heike fireflies at Omachi Park in Ichikawa might be a better option?"
Saikachi-san tilted her head at what I said.
"It's surprising that there are places nearby where you can see fireflies. But, can you see the Heike fireflies for a long time?"
"Yeah, with Genji fireflies, it's from late May to early June, but the viewing period at Funabashi Athletic Park is around four days in mid-June. On the other hand, the Heike fireflies at Omachi Park in Ichikawa can be seen from late July to early August, so it's definitely fine even after the summer break. By the way, you can also leisurely enjoy cute animals like red pandas, guinea pigs, and small-clawed otters at the nearby Ichikawa City Zoo, as well as plants like roses."
When I mentioned that, Saikachi-san nodded with a smile.
"Oh, I think that's great."
"Got it. I'll check the period when firefly viewing is possible and then let you know the day we'll go. Since you can't see the firefly light if it's raining, it might be better to wait until the rainy season is over."
"I see, understood."
I took out my planner again and wrote down "Firefly Viewing at Ichikawa Zoo with Saikachi-san."
"You guys, so much lucky! I wanna join in the fun too, you know!"
That's Kokonoe-san for you.
"Um, yeah, it's not a problem for me, but what does Kokonoe-san want to do?"
"When it comes to summer vacashun, it's all about camping, right?"
"Camping, huh? In the case of America, they have things like school-sponsored baseball, American football, soccer, cheerleading, marching bands, dancing, musicals, orchestras, and intensive camps (boot camps) or university open houses. But I guess it's not like that, right?"
When I ask that, Kokonoe-san nods.
"Oh no no, not like that at all. In the cool mountains, we set up tents and do fishing, kayaking, river rafting, tennis, and cooking."
"Oh, in America, they also do regular camping like that. They seem to have more activities, though, and over there, it takes about two weeks to a month."
I think maybe I had a biased view of American camping, but the general definition of camping in Japan is narrow.
"Yeah, like totally! It's going to be mega fun."
"But when it comes to staying overnight, I have to ask my parents. And in Japan, even two weeks is too long, so it will probably be around three nights and four days."
"Really, desuka?"
"In Japan, summer vacation is about 40 days, and parents only have time off during Obon. Well, I think I have enough paid time off, so I think I'll manage somehow."
"That's good, desu."
"Oh, in that case, can we exchange social media addresses so we can stay in touch?"
"Of courseee!"
With that, I exchanged addresses with Kokonoe-san and wrote it down in my planner.

In my previous high school life, there was nothing special during summer vacation, but this time, I already have various plans. Yayoi-chan and Fumi-chan are likely to say they want to go somewhere together.
It's a happy thing, but this summer seems like it will be quite busy.
