Volume 2 Chapter 28 Let's Talk About Going To The Beach With The Neighbors, And My Family
So, this year at Comispa, I went shopping for doujinshi with Kashiyama-san, and we're also thinking about cosplay during the Obon Festival.
I attended a small doujin event with Shibata-san, did some firefly watching with Saikachi-san, and have plans for a mountain camping trip with Kokonoe-san.
And, on top of that, I've decided to go to the beach with Fumi-chan and to Tokyo Disneyland Resort (TDR) with Yayoi-chan.
I think it's fine since I have dated Shinonome-san and Nakagaito, but I can't help but feel a bit left out for not inviting Namiki-san. I'm not sure if we've become that close yet.
Well, we did get along quite well after practicing volleyball together at the sports event.
Anyway, I think it's not worth worrying about right now. Let's first set the schedule and then maybe consider Namiki-san later. I should start by figuring out the dates and times for the most urgent plans.
Thinking about it, my plan is for Fumi-chan and me to go to the beach for two nights and three days, while Kokonoe-san and I will go camping in the mountains for three nights and four days.
Because we'll be staying overnight, it wouldn't be possible for just the two of us to go, so it's better to book accommodations in advance.
Regarding the schedule for the beach and mountains, I'm considering going to the beach on August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and then taking a day off before going to the mountains on August 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th.
By August, the rainy season should be over, and it will be the hottest time of the year, so it seems like the perfect time to go to the beach and mountains. This year, the rainy season should have ended around the end of July.
First, I want to talk to Fumi-chan's family and decide on the dates and places.
While thinking about these things, I came back home.
"I'm home!"
"Welcome back, Akihiro. Dinner is ready."
"Great, I'm hungry. Is Dad coming home early today?"
"Yes, it doesn't seem like he's too busy right now, so I think he'll be fine."
"Hey Mom, did you lose weight?"
I asked, and my mother smiled,
"Yes, since April, I've lost about 4 kilograms (8.82 pounds), and my waist got slimmer."
"After all, when you lose weight, it really shows."
And I hope losing weight not only makes her look better but also helps with her diabetes.
Just then, my father arrived home.
"Akihiro, I'm back."
"Welcome back, Dad. Is work still busy?"
"No, I have some free time now."
"In that case, could we plan a family trip in early August?"
I asked, and my father agreed,
"Sure, we can plan something. Some people even go overseas for about ten days."
"That sounds great. I was thinking it would be nice for us to go out together in early August. If we can go to the beach on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd of August, can we invite Fumi-chan's family over to discuss it?"
I told my mother about it, and she looked confused.
"Oh, are you and the neighbor planning to go to the sea together?"
"Yeah, Fumi-chan really wants to go to the sea. I'm also thinking about camping in the mountains for three nights and four days with another girl afterward."
When I said that, my mother laughed.
"It's a bit greedy to want both the sea and the mountains. Well then, should we invite the neighbor over here and have a chat?"
"Yeah."
I messaged Fumi-chan on social media.
[I want to discuss going to the sea with Fumi-chan's family. If your parents are available, can everyone come to my place for a talk?]
I quickly received a reply.
[Sure! We'll come over right away.]
So, Fumi-chan and her family came to my house.
I've met Fumi-chan's mother before, but is this the first time meeting her father?
"Welcome."
"Sorry to bother you."
While the mothers were happily talking and smiling, it seemed like there was a bit of awkwardness between the fathers.
"Um, so, Fumi-chan and I were talking about wanting to go to the beach for two nights and three days this summer. We're thinking of going around August 1st, 2nd, or 3rd if possible. My parents said it's okay on our end, but how about there?"

"Yes, it's fine. It's still more than a month away."
Fumi-chan's father nodded silently too. And I continued.
"As for the destination, we're thinking of using the train for transportation. Driving can be tiring for the driver, especially if we get stuck in traffic. Also, we're looking for a place where we can enjoy beach activities, the sea is in a clean air environment, local seafood is delicious, and there's even a volcanic hot spring. So, I'm thinking of Shizuoka's Shimoda. What do you think? Even if we take the train, it will take just over four hours from Funabashi to Shimoda, so we'll have about half a day to play on the first and last days. Oh, since it's a family trip, I want both our parents and Fumi-chan's parents to be able to relax and refresh both mentally and physically."
My mother is happy.
"So, we'll be traveling by train, right?"
"Yeah, it would be cool if Dad buys some beer on the train and enjoys it. You can't do that while driving a car, right?"
My father agrees, saying,
"I see, that's a great idea."
Fumi-chan's father also agrees with a nod.
Fumi-chan's mother, smiling, comments,
"You have really grown up, even though you used to seem unreliable."
Fumi-chan, also smiling, adds,
"Exactly, Atchan has become such a wonderful boy."
Hearing the praise, I feel a bit embarrassed and say,
"Hahaha, I still have a long way to go."
Then my mother reassures me, saying,
"That's okay, I think it's good."
Fumi-chan's mother nods and agrees,
"Yes, I'm looking forward to it."
Then, I suggest to my mother,
"Maybe it's a good idea to buy your swimsuit at the end of July, Mom? Let's swim together since we have the chance."
Fumi-chan heard that and gave a cold look.
"Does Atchan really love his mom so much? You have been the same since kindergarten."
"Hmm, you think so?"
Well, it's true that parents are important, but why the cold look, I wonder?
After that, everyone talked about whether to stay at a hot spring hotel with an open-air bath or a hot spring inn with an open-air bath. We decided on a plan for the sea for now.
I'm glad it turned out okay.
