Volume 2 Chapter 64 The Farmer's Meals Are Often Planned, But There Is No Doubt That They Are Delicious
Now, when I was learning about sewing at Aunt Satsuki's house, it became late.
"It's getting late, so how about having dinner at our place?"
Aunt Satsuki said that, and Yayoi-chan also said the same.
"If that's the case, I'll help too."
And when I looked at my mother, she smiled and said,
"Well then, let's take you up on your offer."

"Well then, I'll take you up on your offer and start eating."

I say that, and Yayoi-chan laughs while responding.
"We used to eat it together a lot in the past. The seasoning is basically the same as the one from the stalls, so it's delicious, right?"
"Yeah, it's really delicious. I think I could eat it every day."
I say that, and Yayoi-chan smiles wryly while responding.
"Oh, but if our everyday meals become full of corn, it might become a bit too much, you know."

"Oh, I see. Since there's limited space to place products in supermarkets and grocery stores, there are restrictions on the amount that can be shipped. So, the remaining corn is what we end up eating ourselves, right?"
"Yeah, sometimes there's a surplus when you share with neighbors and stuff. Well, corn lasts longer than leafy vegetables like komatsuna or lettuce, or even fruits, so if you harvest too much, you don't really have to throw it away."
"Indeed, the discounted corner at the supermarket mostly has leafy vegetables, bananas, and strawberries. I hardly see beans or corn."
"That's why the crops we've been growing at home lately are beans, corn, and potatoes. We also grow rice a little, but it doesn't make much money, so our main focus now is pears."

"Hmm, they all look delicious. Itadakimasu."

"Most of them are from our garden. Although the pork, tomatoes, and enoki mushrooms are not."
"It's nice to have this kind of menu, too."

Then, my mom says.
"Hey, don't say unnecessary things like that. Your mom has been working hard lately, you know."
"Oops, sorry."
Well, with that, we finished our meal and decided to go home.
And as we were leaving, my mom handed an envelope to Aunt Satsuki.
"Sister, thank you for today. It's just a small token, but please accept it."
"Oh, you don't have to be so considerate. But I'll gratefully accept it."
Hmm, I guess even in close relationships, there's still etiquette.
I should have prepared a thank-you gift as well, maybe.
