Volume 2 Chapter 70 The Final Exams Are Over, So Except For A Few Things, It Already Feels Like Summer Vacation
Yesterday, I went to buy a yukata with Fumi-chan and participated in the Tanabata festival. We went around looking at the stalls and enjoyed eating snacks. The festival was really fun after all.
And now, the week has started and school has begun, but since the final tests are over, many of my classmates already feel like it's summer vacation.
Well, there are some people who are panicking with pale faces saying, "It's all over, it's hopeless," but they probably haven't been able to understand the content of the classes and have come this far.
In high school or university, there are actually quite a few cases where people were able to enter the school because they happened to get good grades on the entrance exams, but then they struggle to keep up with the classes and end up experiencing hardships.
However, even if you get failing grades in high school, you can take make-up exams or supplementary lessons, so it's not easy to repeat a year or get expelled. But if you get failing grades on the end-of-term tests for the first semester, it can be mentally tough because the make-up lessons are scheduled during summer vacation.
Well, it seems that in public advanced schools, there are quite a few schools that have compulsory supplementary lessons for everyone during the summer vacation, but our school not that strict, so it's a relief.
High schools in advanced schools seem to have the intention of appealing, "We focus on test preparation," and especially in rural areas, they want to emphasize that school is more important than cram school. Adults are dirty, aren't they?
As I think about this, Shinonome-san says with a smile.
"Well, before the midterm exams, I didn't understand the science and math subjects at all and it was quite dangerous, but thanks to Hata-pippi teaching me, I was saved. Hata-pippi is amazing. And once the final exams are over, we'll have only 4 hours of morning classes until summer vacation."
I respond with a wry smile.
"Well, basically, studying is about building a foundation, and if you're having trouble with the study material up until the first semester of high school, you should properly check where you're stumbling, including junior high school, and if you don't understand, you should redo your studying. You can manage it somehow. Until high school, you're basically just learning what you already know. It's not necessarily the case when you get to university. The classes after the end of the first semester's exams are usually the material for the second semester's midterm exams, so if the teachers progress the classes too much, there's a high chance that the students will forget, and the teachers also need time to grade the exams and finalize the grades for the report cards. There might be a reason why they want to have only morning classes during this time, especially in the hottest hours of the day."
I said that, and Shinonome-san made a displeased face and slumped on the desk.
"Oh, I have to study not only in high school but also in college. But then again, not going to college is a bit unusual."
I nodded in agreement.

Nowadays, even with just a high school diploma, you might end up as a temporary worker or a contract worker in a factory, or even as a regular employee, you might have a low salary. And in the first place, if it was the 60s, girls would usually become housewives after being apprentices in household chores with just a high school diploma, or if they got a junior college degree and found a job, they would end up serving tea for a few years and then retire to become a full-time housewife."
"I wish I was born in that era too. Well, on the other hand, I guess home appliances, private cars, and my own home would have been out of reach. That's a bit discouraging, isn't it? Things don't seem to go well."

And Kokonoe-san also said happily.
"Don't forget to campu with my family in the mountains, okay?"

And I'm going to the event with Shibata-san in Asakusabashi, and during the mid-August Obon, I'll also be visiting the graves and greeting my relatives at home, but I'm going to Comiket with Kashiyama-san.
I don't think Shibata-san will cosplay, but if she enjoys the doujinshi fair at the fan event, she might go to Comiket too.
In the latter half of August, there's also a trip to the pool with Nakagaito, a visit to the aquarium with Namiki-san, and TDR (Tokyo Disney Resort) with Yayoi-chan. Plus, there's also Shinonome-san's homework.
There are also plans to go to the beach with Fumi-chan's family, so it looks like it's going to be really busy.
