Volume 1 Chapter 8 The Brave Is Going To The Temple, But..
On the day I arrived in the royal capital, after experiencing a farewell, I headed towards the church in this city.
I wanted to avoid meeting with the king during the daytime, but since I had already taken up the role of a babysitter, I thought it wouldn't be right to disappear like that.
Even though I didn't want to meet the royals and aristocrats, it was only appropriate for me to be a conversation partner for Relix.
While Relix stays in the royal capital, he will be staying at the accommodation prepared by the church. The royal castle would be full of tension, and above all, the church is a religious organization that worships the god responsible for selecting the Brave. It was only natural for them to step up and take care of the Brave.
Anyway, the church that I headed to was unbelievably huge. It was so big that the church in the village would seem like a "horse stable" in comparison. The royal castle in the center with the king was also large, but this church was just as massive.
Alright, so here's the deal. As I walked into the Church, a carriage carrying Relix pulled into the yard at just the right time. I was wondering how I would meet up with Relix, but it was like a lucky break.
Relix and I were taken to a room inside the Church. It was where Relix would stay while in the royal capital.
Oh, it was fancy. A room that a commoner like me wouldn't even get into. It even had a bed with a ceiling on top.
But I decided to pass on it. I'd rather stay at a cheap inn in town than live in such a formal place.
"Great. That might just be perfect."
When I told Relix that, he had a surprising reaction. I thought he might scold me a little for jumping out of the carriage in the daytime, but it turned out he was planning to go on an expedition soon.
It's not too far, just two to three days' journey from the royal capital. It seems there's a temple there related to the Brave, and inside is the 'Holy Sword,' the weapon of the Brave.
The purpose is to obtain the 'Holy Sword.'
"But unfortunately, it seems that only the Brave and members of the royal family can enter the temple. So even if Yukina comes--"
"No, it's not a problem. I'll just kill time in the royal capital."
I casually replied to Relix, who seemed apologetic.
It seems that one member of the royal family will accompany him to the temple, but I really don't want such a formal atmosphere. Apparently, there are various customs even after arriving at the temple, which will take several more hours. In that case, it's better to stay in the royal capital and kill time.
"By the way, is it the king who will go with you?"

"So, it's the princess. Was she beautiful?"
When I hear the word princess, I first imagine a lovely beauty.
"Today, it seems like she had 'some business' to attend to, so I couldn't meet her, but I heard she's incredibly beautiful."
"Well...even if a princess's face is a bit worn out, there's no choice but to praise her beauty."
If I stay in the royal capital, there might be a chance to see her. Let's hope that the rumors are true.
--So, Relix set off for the temple.
As for me, I decided to rent a cheap inn in the town instead of staying in the room provided by the church. I would feel down if I lived in a room with excessive decorations.
Now, I did want to spend time with a beautiful big sister, but before that, I decided to take care of one thing.
So, there was this villager who asked me to take care of something for them.
They wanted me to go to the weapon shop in the royal capital and get a new sword.
The sword they were using to fight monsters wasn't really good quality to begin with, and they had been fixing it over and over again until it finally broke in half.
They asked me to get a good quality sword from the royal capital if I was going to buy a new one.
So, I headed to the weapon shop right away.
"...There are so many weapon shops here!"
I asked the innkeeper for the location of the weapon shop and went there, but I was amazed by how many shops there were.
The shops were crammed with weapons, and the weapon shops themselves were lined up tightly along the street.
"I wonder which shop I should choose."
I walked down the street of the weapon shop, looking at the storefronts while the sound of hammers filled the air.
There were so many people living here compared to my home village, and it made sense that there were so many shops. But for someone like me who doesn't know much about weapons, it was a difficult problem to solve.
--Boommmm!
As I was wondering what to do, I heard a loud sound that sounded like something was being destroyed. When I looked back, I saw someone collapsed in front of a shop I passed earlier. There wasn't anything like that when I passed by earlier.
Then, a man came bursting out of the shop, or maybe he was "blown out".
Oh, another one came flying out too.
While I was watching, a chubby old man with a bushy beard came out from the shop.
"Get out! I won't sell weapons to scoundrels like you! If I see your faces again, I'll smash you with my hammer!"
The angry old man shouted, and the men screamed and ran away from him. As they ran past me, I looked back at the shop where they came flying out from.
The old man was already back inside the store and couldn't be seen on the street.
It was like a mix of wanting to see something scary and wanting to see something new.
But I don't know what I was thinking, my feet were "heading" towards that store.
