Chapter 166 Successful Infiltration, What'S Next?
"What brings you to our household?"
I had heard beforehand that there were merchants who supplied to shops and merchants who supplied to prestigious families. So, it wasn't surprising to have a merchant visit Geneus-san's mansion.
"I've come as a traveling medicine peddler."
"Yes, I understand. Please come this way."
A 'traveling medicine peddler'—it was like a predetermined code. Basically, it was a passphrase. When the gate opened, it revealed an entrance wide enough for a carriage to pass through. We were guided straight to the back door.
Stepping down from the carriage, we faced yet another door beyond the one opened for us. Wow, some noble houses even have double doors.
"I've come on behalf of the Lord. Please, everyone is gathering inside."
With a nod of acknowledgment, another door was opened. Inside was a typical mansion hall. A woman came around to lead us.
This must be the first floor, probably the dining hall or something.
'Wow, this place looks like a dining hall, huh?'
'You've seen it like that before, right?'
'Jackpot!'
She keeps appraising. It seems like it wasn't very useful unless you leveled up, but now, she won't tell me how useful it is.
'Ugh.'
'Yeah yeah, don't get sulky.'
Whispering quietly, me and Maya-chan are having this exchange.
The door opens. Yeah. I think we hit the mark, but there's a family drinking tea and chatting.
Huh? I feel like I'm getting some attention.
"Tatsuma-sama, Maya-sama. We've been waiting for you."
Oops. Everyone stands up right there, giving us a deep bow.
"Wow, seriously?"
"I totally get that feeling..."
Even though we're the firstborn son and daughter of the Duke family in Ensgard, they shouldn't know about that. Oh, maybe Jam-san told them. But that's okay.
Even though they're just a Baron and his family, all the way from the wife to the daughters and sons, they all bow to us.
"Yes, yes. So, Maya-chan."
"Yeah?"
"Do you need experience points?"
"Is it okay?"
"Yeah. It's not urgent here anyway."
"Alright then, let's begin. Um, could everyone please sit down since we're starting the healing?"
This time, Maya-chan is in charge of healing. I take out some mana tea from the inventory and hand it over, casting 'Mana Recover' on her.
Geneus-san is already done with the treatment, but the other family members are all wearing gloves. It must be painful if they get rubbed.

By the way, Maya-chan's current holy attribute level is 4. In my level terms, it's like she's surpassed level 40, right? Quite the jump. She was only at 2 when she was in Swiglefen, but now she's at 4. Maybe it's because she did a lot of healing at the Ensgard shrine?
This 'Holy Purification' is a level 4 magic. It's about 25% effective compared to my 'Dis Recover.' Still, being able to treat Oso (Dreadful element) poison is rare in this world, probably only a few steps behind me. She's a valuable asset.
But she doesn't feel like going up to level 5. The next experience point requirement seems insanely high. It feels like it would take years if she make a mistake. The 'purification magic' that I desperately wanted is now being used by Maya-chan. I never thought it was holy attribute magic. Seriously, I have no clue.
So, apparently, she can usually clear out regular Oso poison in about two or three tries. But, even after it's done, she end up getting a little bit of that Oso poison from the healing process. So...
"Sorry, big brother."
"It's okay. 'Dis Recover.' Is this good?"
"Yeah. Thanks for making the pain go away."
Maya-chan leans her cheek against mine, kind of like what she always does with Rena-san. It's her way of saying thanks, Rena-san explained.
So, if she's at level 4, does that make her intermediate? With this kind of holy magic, she just gotta layer it a few times to heal Oso poison. But, there's a knockback effect from the Oso poison.
Like a side effect or recoil, you could say. Holy magic, like sanctification or purification, sees stuff taken from water as poison and cleanses or purifies it. So, she end up taking in some Oso poison as recoil.
That's why Her Majesty Queen Myla collapsed and died, right here. It's like a double-edged sword, basically.
Maya-chan finally finished her solo treatment now. She used her magic five times to scatter the Oso poison. When Maya-chan treats, I just have to heal the Oso poison she sucks up with "Dis Recover."
I could heal directly, but Maya-chan wants to do it herself now, so I'm letting her. But this "Holy Purification" seems to take up 70% of Maya-chan's total mana. So maybe we wait for her to recover before loading the next shot?
Still, it's clear that there's a big difference from the previous magic right in front of us. Everyone's definitely surprised.

"Sorry, big brother. I'm mentally drained. Can you change the Healing Attribute doping? I don't like it."
"Yeah. I think you did great. At least, you're watching every time I finish one, right?"
"Yeah. Oso poison left is close to 0%."
"Then you did really well."
I gently patted Maya-chan's head.
"If you were a monster, I'd be giving you a good scratch behind the ears right about now."
"What are you talking about?"
Maya-chan treated five people. I think she treated about half, including little kids? Anyway, everyone, the progress was faster than we thought, but it was tough when Maya-chan's magic didn't cure everything at once.
"Um, Holy Lady, my sister and her assistant, reached their limit."
'Hey, big brother...'
'You should be called Holy Lady. Understand the struggle of being called Saint-sama like I do...'
"Aww..."
As usual, it took two rounds of magic per person, and before we knew it, I finished treating the rest of the families. At that moment, it seemed like the three who were on immigration duty came back. They're all hugging and rejoicing.
"Maya and the others did a good thing, huh?"
"Well, it's kinda deep when stuff like this happens."
So, I had Maya-chan check to see if the hot water helped with the pain, and she confirmed that it really did make it better. Maya-chan's pretty cautious, you know. She said it's important for people to really realize that it's healed and not just look like it's better on the outside.
