Chapter 169 Because That Person Was There

Chapter 169 Because That Person Was There

Someone grabbed the Viscount's sleeve, their voice louder than a whisper.

 "What's up with that?"

Madam Viscount was the first to react, just as Geneus-san expected.

 'Hey, Maya-chan.'

 'Yeah?'

'Even though I was a bit of a loner, I'm gonna show off a bit of my power as the public relation guy for a big entertainment company.'

'Even though I was more of an indoor type, let's cheer on the entertainment company intern!'

I stepped forward. I took Geneus-san's hand to explain.

I pulled out a table stand from my inventory and placed a bucket on top, filled with water that was just a tad hotter than your usual bath.

Everyone seemed to know what was coming. I dragged Geneus-san's hand and dipped it into the water. There were little yelps of surprise here and there, but he had this really content expression on his face.

"Whew... It's getting cold this time of year, I didn't even dream I'd be able to soak in hot water like this. Of course, my family went a bit overboard enjoying it yesterday, ended up catching a cold. After that, my wife and I enjoyed some liquor. That's when it hit me. If I can live healthily with my family, I don't need anything else..."

That was quite a speech, huh? But I guess it must have been tough. I've actually heard words like that from people who've undergone treatment many times.

"The other day, he fell into my hands. Thanks to that, I managed to pass through the sweet scrutiny and enter this country."

Everyone looked at Geneus-san with blank expressions. I took advantage of that moment to approach Madam Viscount and cast a spell after taking her right hand.

 "'Dis Recover,' 'Full Recover'!"

I reached into my inventory and pulled out a thin white cloth, placing it delicately in the Madam's hand. With a flick, I made it dance like a magic trick, then stepped back just a tad. When I glanced at Maya-chan, she was grinning. Finally, I gave a magician-like bow.

"Here you go, take these gloves and see for yourself. Your fingertips, free from the Dreadful element's poison, untouched by any stain..."

 'Wow, pretty fancy, huh?'

The Madam Viscount, as if guided by me, removed her gloves, reaching up to her elbows. Her expression was initially surprised but gradually softened into a gentle smile.

"Would you look at this? It's a miracle. A miracle has happened..."

The Madam Viscount had some black spots on her fingers, but I can't tell how much anymore. Despite her age, she seemed pretty happy, almost like a young lady. The Viscount himself could only smile in return.

"Demon-dono, no, I don't care if you're the Demon King or Your Majesty. I'll give up everything, even my soul. Just please, save my family, my friends, their families. I know it sounds selfish, but please, I'm begging you."

The Viscount knelt before me, bowing his head. It was a desperate plea, no doubt about it.

'Wow, demon, demon king, Your Majesty.'

'Hey, cut it out with the demon talk, okay? I mean, I might have gone a bit overboard.'

"Please, stand up. I'm not really a demon or a demon king. I'm just upset to hear that everyone were cursed by the king of this country and went through tough times."

Viscount, Madam Viscount, and the other Baron—they all seemed to have a sense of who I am.

Mother says she's not too concerned outwardly, so I play it cool too. But the matter of the Great Trout is unacceptable, I can't let that slide.

"So, I basically made him and his vassal's families hostage. It's simple really. I just need to show them I can cure Oso poison. And there they fell, easy as pie."

I said, scanning the room. They all looked at me with anticipation rather than fear. Well, I was called 'Saint-sama' in both Watterhill and Swiglefen, after all. I hate it though.

"I intend to take everyone who believes in me away from this country. But I need Mother's approval first, of course. It might be tough to get them accepted back in the homeland. Still, I think Watterhill would be okay."

I reach out to the Viscount, casting 'Dis Recover' and 'Full Recover' spells as I go. I walk around the people and finish the treatment while shaking hands with everyone.

 "Maya-chan, anyone left?"

 "No, we're good, big brother."

I turn around to face everyone, meeting their eyes as I speak slowly.

"Selling me to this country? Fine. But when that happens, I'll crush them all. With me, her, and our family together, it won't take more than a night to deal with this country."

'But you wouldn't do that, right?'

Maya-chan rolls her eyes, like, seriously? No spoilers please.

"I'll visit here again in three days. Just like the Viscount and the Madam Viscount should be at Geneus-san's mansion. If you stay, that's your answer."

I've already figured out how to kidnap people from this country. Super simple steps, really. Well, partly thanks to Maya-chan getting Berberiguru-san from Jam-san.

"That night, I temporarily shut down the functions of the royal family and their entourage. The next morning, we let the townsfolk escape all at once. Persuasion is up to you guys. If you think staying is better than dying, that's fine. Otherwise, you can live to see another day.

I've asked Berberi-san to investigate the positional relationship between this country's royal family and the upper aristocrats through Maya-chan. After that, it should be smooth sailing.

From what I heard from Geneus-san, the Viscount believes in me rather than his superior, Count. He's dead sure about it. Both Geneus-san and Viscount must have been oppressed by the system. The black market is scary...

"Well done, big brother. That was impressive. I guess you have experience working in society, huh?"

"Thanks, yeah, you could say that. I've been through the ups and downs of life, after all."

We breezed through Wareels checkpoint like it was nothing. We had our passes, but even the guy checking them didn't recognize us, and it was all smooth sailing.

"I guess those low-level officials ain't got time to bother with us."

 "Yeah, probably not."
