Chapter 174 What'S With This Silence
Yesterday, even though we worked hard all day, only about 400 people were the limit. So, after breakfast, Maya-chan and I came to the temporary housing area of the Dog-Human race who fled. Of course, it's for Oso's poison treatment.
Both Maya-chan and I were feeling a bit restless. It's like, we were waiting anxiously for Berberiguru-san's report.
"Hey big brother. Oh, yes, next person, please."
"What's up, Maya-chan? Yes, next, please."
Maya-chan is treating a person with symptoms that are as light as a darkening as small as a fingernail. Mine are a bit heavier. People are waiting in line for treatment.
Lately, Maya-chan has been called the "Holy Lady" in Ensgard. I get teased sometimes because of the "Saint-sama" thing. So, I make fun of her sometimes.
"Is he here yet?"
"He said around noon, right?"
"So dejected..."
While having this kind of conversation, we continue with the treatment. Until just the other day, we were treating at the shrine, so it doesn't feel quite like our usual routine, but... Oh, maybe that's the reason for this strange feeling. Maybe Maya-chan doesn't seem eager for a cuddle.
In front of us are the Dog-Human race people. Even though they have ears and tails like animals, Maya-chan doesn't seem interested. She's always said she's a cat person, but I didn't think she'd be this firm about it. It doesn't look like she's forcing herself, though.
Kumeiriana-san is still bustling around today, helping out the Dog-Human tribe who have sought refuge here. She often works alongside Histozeira-san, so I guess they're really good friends.
I thought Rosalier-san and Kumeiriana-san wouldn't get along because they don't seem to have good chemistry, but it seems like they're able to avoid each other pretty well. Maybe because they never really cross paths.
Today, I'm taking a proper lunch break. Rosalier-san and Mom (Danna) usually handle the basic seasoning, but Her Majesty Queen Myla helps with the presentation. Everything looks so stunning that I honestly can't tell who did what.
"Tatsuma-sama"
"Yes?"
"Would you like to return to the mansion for lunch tomorrow?"
"Why again?"
"It's because Her Majesty Queen Myla insists on delivering lunch herself..."
"Oh, okay. Is that all right, Maya-chan?"
"Yeah, it's typical of Her Majesty Queen Myla. Maya is okay with it."
Rosalier-san is like an older sister figure, and Her Majesty Queen Myla feels a bit like an older sister too, Maya-chan mentioned that before, right? From our perspective, even though age-wise, they are about the same.
"Alright, so starting tomorrow, lunch will be at the mansion."
"Yes, thank you."
Even if we finish here and go back to the shrine for treatment, Centrena and Alesion will probably come and go like taking a stroll.
Oh yeah, there was an update from the Watterhill group via Jam-san. Thanks to the Magic Tool made by Corbett-san, the damage from the Oso poison has been minimized.
From Swiglefen, Maya-chan got a similar report from Mahiru-chan. They have multiple healers there, so it's not as serious as Watterhill.
I'm thinking I might have to stay for about a week. But just because they're out of the worst situation doesn't mean Oso itself is gone.

After dinner, while having tea and relaxing,
"Maya-sama."
"Hey, Ber-san, I've been waiting."
I wonder if Maya-chan's naming could be changed somehow? She calls Diemirena-san 'Mii-cchan', so she's calling Berberiguru-san 'Ber-san'.
"Yeah, I've been waiting too."
"Yes, I apologize for keeping you waiting."
"It's okay, it's okay."
"It's okay, it's okay."
"Even though you're not blood-related, you two really look alike, don't you?"
Rosalier seems annoyed. I can tell by her voice.
"Is that so?"
"Well, I don't mind being told that we look alike."
"You really are like me, big brother."
"Maya-sama, Tatsuma-sama, may I make a report?"
"Sure, go ahead."
"Please do."
Doesn't Berberi-san seem to have the skill of ignoring things?
"So, I took a leisurely stroll around the town."
So, he was just wandering around.
"Were you just wandering around?"
I was trying to hold it in, but Maya-chan's voice came out.
"Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed myself."
"I didn't really can't find you."
"Well, I mostly observed from the rooftops."
"Oh, I see."
"Then, the town was mostly like a neatly arranged ruin. I could only sense the distinct scent of the Wolf-Human race from certain directions."
"I see, so almost everyone had fled."
"Regilade-san is really kind. Geneus-san must be famous too."
"As I was walking around the town, several carriages with people who looked like Wolf-Human beings came out from the royal castle."
"Ah, they must be nobles, right?"
"Yeah, probably related to that."
I asked Geneus-san, and it turns out the royal family, the Duke family, and the Marquis family are all apparently Wolf-Human beings. Even the Count family, who are known for being money-grubbers, are also Wolf-Human beings. I asked if there's some sort of hierarchy based on race, and it seems like there is.
Of course, there's just one royal family and one Duke family. There are two Marquis families and two Count families. Anything below Viscount is Dog-Human, and there are no records of anyone rising above that.
"That guy Koitsuji seems to be in a panic too."
Mother is holding her stomach, trying not to burst out laughing. She must be close to having a six-pack by now.
"Who's that, Koitsuji? Koitsujii?"
"Oh, that's Koitsuji Wareels. He's the current king over there. But in reality, it's Queen Ginedetta Wareels who holds the reins."
"Anyway, Tatsuma-kun, Maya-kun."
Mother comes around behind us and gives us a tight hug. It might be rare for her to kiss us on the cheek. Of course, she does the same for Maya-chan.
"Wow. I love you, Mother!"
Maya-chan is enjoying it. Even though our parents aren't here right now. Unlike me, she doesn't know what her mother looks like. So, essentially, Mother is Maya-chan's mom. Of course, Mom (Danna) is too. Oh, she sneakily looks over from the kitchen, with a somewhat complicated expression.
Oh, Maya-chan dashes away. She clings to Mom.
"I love you too, Mom."
"Maya-chan, I love you too..."
Wow, Mom is acting strange today, lightly leaning against a travel bag. Maya is swinging her legs back and forth. They have quite a height difference.
