Side Story - Side Brave Vi, Part One

We're nearing the end of my training in the royal capital, and the day of the departure is getting closer and closer.

My "friend" from the Mercenary Guild introduced me to a 1st rank swordman from the Mercenary Guild, who will be taking Mikage-san's place.

This swordman is a seasoned veteran who has been a mercenary for many years. In their younger days, they took on dangerous missions and became quite skilled. Recently, it seems they have shifted their focus to training the next generation, and they are an excellent instructor. They fit perfectly with what Aina-sama had in mind.

They are a friendly person, and we hit it off right away when we met. Of course, their experience plays a role in that, but it's always a good thing to have good chemistry when traveling together.

Now, the only thing left is to find a magician and a healer.

There were a couple of candidates for the position of magician.

One of them is Aina-sama herself. Aina-sama joined me on this journey to obtain the Holy Sword (Leiva), partly because her royal bloodline is required, but also to test her own abilities.

When I ask in detail, Aina-sama's talent as a magician is excellent. Although she still has some immature parts now, it is even said that she may leave her name in history as a great magician in the future.

And there's another person, a magician working in the royal palace. A genius who earned the title of court magician at a young age. It's said that this person also possesses an incomparable talent for magic just like Aina-sama.

I was surprised when I first met her. I had heard she was young, but she turned out to be a girl of my age.

She was dressed as a magician, with a big robe and a pointed hat, looking like a "typical young girl".

No, it's rude to compare her to Aina-sama. Yeah, it's not good to compare specific parts of women.

"Nice to meet you, Brave-sama! I'm looking forward to working with you!"

When we met for the first time, she greeted me cheerfully and cheerfully. She was the kind of girl who made you feel energetic just by being around her.

I can't really say anything about others, but I'm worried if a girl like this can safely accompany the Demon King subjugation journey. However, as a court magician, she has already contributed to the subjugation of many vicious monsters, and it seems that she has much more combat experience than a clumsy mercenary.

It's not exactly decided who will accompany the journey. However, it was probably told that it would be the court magician. Aina-sama is a member of the royal family of this country, so it's only natural. Aina-sama was merely a 'candidate' in case of an emergency.

But let's get back to the story. What remains is the healer.

Strictly speaking, there are still other reassuring personnel (positions) available, but the Demon King subjugation journey is expected to be unimaginably difficult. Considering the level of anticipated danger, in terms of ability, this is the limit of what can be assembled in the royal capital at present.

However, the presence or absence of a healer is directly linked to the survival rate of the party, so it is absolutely necessary. This much was certain.

However, the most challenging task was to secure the healer.

Healing magicians are individuals who are devout followers of the Brave, and they are all part of the Church. It was initially planned to find suitable candidates from within this group.

However, skilled healing magicians held important positions within the Church, and they were not people who could easily be replaced once they set off on a journey.

Furthermore, most of them had led lives free from conflict and did not possess the necessary abilities to embark on a quest to defeat the Demon King, which involved accompanying the group on their journey and required a certain level of self-defense capability.

Although the Church is supposedly still searching for personnel to undertake the task of defeating the Demon King, there seems to be little progress.

Therefore, I needed to find the healer through my own efforts.

 But there are three conditions.

They must have the ability to use healing magic.

They must have a certain level of freedom to move around.

They must have a certain level of self-defense ability.

'It's hard to believe that there's someone out there who meets all of these conditions.'

Leiva said with a wry smile, inwardly agreeing when she heard these conditions.

Learning healing magic is difficult. Those with talent start training under a mentor from a young age, and it takes a lot of effort to master it. Most people with talent are usually entrusted to the Church for training, and it's not something that ordinary people can easily learn on their own.

Even if the person we intend to recruit can't meet all of my wishes, it might be necessary to make some compromises.

One day, as we were struggling to secure healer, we received some information.

It was about a skilled healer who was treating residents as a doctor using healing magic. The source of the information was the recent spread of rumors about this doctor among mercenaries.

At this moment, without any particular destination in mind, I made my way to the doctor's office. Of course, I wasn't alone. Previously, Aina-sama had accompanied me to negotiate for recruiting personnel, but due to official duties, this time I was accompanied by a court magician.

"──So, this is the clinic where the doctor is, right?"

 "Yes, Brave-sama."

The voice that answered me in response to my murmuring was that of a young magician girl named── Mayuri.

Just like when we first met, she was a slender girl with a relaxed robe and a pointed hat. Her appearance was exactly what one would expect from a magician, but no one would ever think that such a girl is one of the most skilled magicians in the royal capital.

"I hope it's not too much trouble to come here without making an appointment."

"Based on my research, this time of day is when the clinic is least busy. If it's not convenient, we can reschedule."

"That's true. I'm the one inconveniencing the owner after all."

I mean, it's like suddenly, the Brave comes and asks, 'Please go on a journey with me.' Isn't that a crazy request? For now, let's just meet briefly and discuss it further another day.

But seriously, I can't believe the destination is this clinic. It feels too perfect to be a coincidence.

After a quick discussion with Mayuri, I knocked on the door of the clinic.

Soon, I heard footsteps approaching from behind the door. I took a step back and waited for the door to open.

 "Hello, may I help you?"

The person who appeared was an incredibly beautiful woman, to the point it sent shivers down my spine. Aina-sama and Mayuri are both beautiful women, but this woman had a mature charm that neither of them possessed. Above all, my eyes were unintentionally drawn to the two mountains that were prominently pushed up by her clothing, although I felt it was impolite to do so.

 "...What a...difference in...strength (breasts)."

 "...Um, Mayuri, what's wrong?"

As soon as she saw the figure of a woman in a white robe, Mayuri fell to her knees and crawled on all fours, her head hanging low as if she had lost all strength.

She weakly lifted her face, and upon seeing the woman in the white robe, her gaze fell to her own chest.

She lowered her face again and cried softly.

"I'm sorry, Brave-sama. I can't possibly win no matter what."

 "What?!"

"Damn it, is this what they call a breast disparity?! God is so unfair!"

As Mayuri sobbed and pounded the ground with clenched fists, the woman in the white robe looked troubled and gave a wry smile.
