Volume 4 Chapter 34 It's Like A Crazy Scene, But...

Several times, the bandits have attacked here, but each time Aina's magic explodes, holding them back. Eventually, perhaps fearing further damage, the bandits' assaults stopped.

 "First aid is done!"

Kyunei's voice echoed from the tent.

"Let's get out of here! Mikage, you lead the way!"

 I said, and Mikage nodded.

"Help those who can move! Those who complain will be left behind without mercy, so come along with determination!"

After receiving Mikage's rallying cry, the captives stood up. Their movements were somewhat shaky, but there was hope in their eyes that they could escape alive from this place.

 "Let's go!"

We left the tent with the captives in tow.

 'Partner, be careful!'

I pull Gram, the black spear.

Looking in that direction, from a distance, bandits were aiming their bows with arrows ready. Taking Aina's magic into consideration, they had switched from a forceful attack to long-range attacks.

Aina quickly pointed her staff at the bandits.

 "No, it's too late!"

The tip of the staff glowed as Aina tried to unleash a new magic at the bandits, but before her magic could be completed, the bandits shot their arrows.

If it's mercenary, we could have handled this situation at this distance with visuals. But the captives couldn't do the same. Everyone screamed in terror, holding their heads.

At least, Rudel and I tried to shield them, but Gaddis couldn't cover everyone.

 "Leave it to me!"

Mikage dashed ahead of us, and jumped in front of the arrow.

 "Hyaaah!!"

With determination, numerous silver flashes danced in the air. Several arrows caught in the midst were cut in half, losing momentum and scattering on the ground before reaching the captives.

 "Isn't that amazing?!"

"Hahaha, the nickname 'Silver Flash' is well-deserved!"

"And you, your character is a bit different, aren't you?!"

While I was amazed by Mikage's extraordinary skill, Rudel laughed heartily as if he didn't understand the situation. His initial gentlemanly demeanor seemed to have disappeared.

Meanwhile, the bandits were preparing to shoot arrows again.

 "Like heck I'll let them!"

I threw the Black Spear. It didn't break through the gate like before, but it still hit the ground with considerable force, sending up a cloud of dust and knocking back the bandits.

 "Yukina-kun?!"

"I'm okay! I can heal myself!"

Kyunei screamed as if scolding me, but the pain wasn't that bad, as I could heal myself with my own Healing magic.

"Hahaha! This is hilarious! How can a spear without magic pack such a punch?! Hahaha!!"

"So what's up with you? You're a bit too emotionally unstable, aren't you?"

I started to wonder if Rudel was on some weird potion or something.

Gaddis, who was holding up his shield, spoke up.

"Sorry for my partner's loudness. Rudel always gets like this when he sees a great warrior. But, even in this state, his fighting skills don't dull, so you can relax about that."

 "Oh, is that so?"

Although they said they were a team, Gaddis seemed to be acting more like Rudel's guardian.

'This is no time for comedy routines, partner.'

I'm not doing this because I want to.

 ――BOOM!

While reluctantly performing a comedy routine, Aina unleashed her magic. The explosion resounded, black smoke rose from the point where the bandits holding bows and arrows were, and all those who had been avoiding the impact of the thrown spears had fallen.

"Now, let's get everyone to a safe place!"

In response to Aina's voice, we began to move again, protecting the captives.

Because the advance party has attracted attention, the number of bandits coming to us is small. Even if they come, they seem hesitant to approach us aggressively, perhaps realizing that our strength is already known. They must value their lives to some extent, as they don't recklessly challenge us.

For now, if they don't take any action against us, we can ignore them. Above all, the safety of the prisoners is the top priority.

(Gram, how are things with the advance party?)

'It seems they can hold out a bit longer. They are indeed veterans, and seem to know about battles. However, they don't seem to have much time to relax... Huh?'

Suddenly, Gram's words are cut off.

'Oh man, partner. It's gotten a little bit dangerous'

From there, in a serious tone contrasting with his earlier light manner, he continues.

'It seems that the boss of the bandits has made contact with the advance party. And, the boss has taken the captives hostage. As a result, the advance party's actions have stopped'

Isn't that a really dangerous situation, more than just a little bit!?
