Chapter 47 I'M Giant
"By the way, Miss Rebecca, can you teach me how to sing?"
"Ms. Sara... it's hard to say, but... I'm tone deaf..."
"Ah, I see... That's, um, very impolite of me..."
A subtle atmosphere flows through the room.
'Hey, maybe Miss Rebecca is just really bad at music...?'
Juliette comes to the rescue.
"Milady Sara, why don't you try singing?"
"I don't know much about singing. Before I was taken in by the Grandchester family, I used to sing with my friends in the neighborhood, but as a noble lady, I can't sing about certain things..."
"Indeed, folk songs are fun. I can understand the feeling of children singing. Although some of the content might be problematic. Milady Rebecca, would it be okay if I sang a few songs for Milady Sara?"
"Oh, that would be a great help. We might have to sing in the salon, so I was worried about what to do..."
"Then I'll prepare the sheet music."
Juliette takes out several sheets of music, places them on the piano's music stand, and adjusts the height of the stand to fit Sara's height. She then puts the singing sheet music on it.
'Ah, this is a good 5-line score. I can understand this.'
Sara stands in front of the music stand, grateful for the instruments and sheet music, probably thanks to the achievements of past reincarnators or transmigrators. Juliette takes off her assistant pedal, sits down on a chair, and begins to play the piano and sing.
Juliette's voice is a soft mezzo-soprano, like a lullaby.
"Sleep, sleep, dear child, don't let the gods' hands touch you, don't fall into the unknown stars
Sleep, sleep, dear child, don't let the gods' power touch you, don't leave my side
Sleep, sleep, dear child, don't let the gods' glory touch you, never become a sage"
'Huh? Is this about running away from the gods? It seems like it would be okay to become a sage...'
In her past life, Sara thought that lullabies often had strange or resentful lyrics, but "this is a weird song, too..."
After Juliette finished singing, Sara also sang the same song. As expected, her angelic voice was reminiscent of a choir or a sacred hymn group. Juliette shed tears of joy again, and even Rebecca and Maria were captivated by Sara's singing voice.
'Yeah, yeah. It's only natural for a noble lady to have such a talent.'
Sara thought to herself, feeling relieved by the reactions around her.
"Miss Rebecca, are there any noble ladies who enjoy playing instruments or singing as a hobby?"
"Yes, there are many. But..."
Rebecca's expression didn't look good.
"Is my playing or singing not good enough?"
"It's too amazing, and it's not something you can call a hobby. If you show it off carelessly, it might cause trouble."
'What's that supposed to mean?!'
Maria and Juliette also nodded in agreement with this statement. Rebecca let out a sigh and said, "Let's talk about that during lunch," and stopped the conversation.
After that, Juliette taught Sara a few more songs, and the morning classes came to an end. Sara promised Juliette that she would come to play the piano again and left the music room.
As Sara walked away, she thought to herself.
'Juliette didn't teach me the hymn-like song that I expected her to teach first. Was it just a coincidence? Or did she intentionally avoid religious connotations? I don't know anything about the religion of this country. Maybe the god of this world is the one who reincarnated me...'
