Chapter 234 The Most Interesting Job

Sara rushed into Maiden's Tower and headed to the room where Alicia the Alchemist Girl was resting, just as Blaze had told her.

Alicia's room was filled with cute little items, even more than Sara had expected.

"Hello. Ms. Alicia, are you okay?"

"Oh, Miss Sara. I'm sorry for worrying you."

"No, it's fine. Don't worry about it."

Then, Teresa the Blacksmith Girl, who was taking care of Alicia, said quietly.

"Ms. Amelia (Pharmacist Girl) said that you're worrying too much. It's probably because of the alchemists who came to visit the tower..."

"I'm sorry, I must have stirred things up, putting a burden on you, Ms. Alicia. I should have done a better job preparing."

"No, if we keep researching at Maiden's Tower, this kind of thing would have happened sooner or later. Even if I didn't send the paper to the Academy, the alchemists who saw the Sophia Merchant Guild's products wouldn't just stay quiet. They would have come rushing in."

It must hurt. Alicia said firmly, even though she slightly frowned. But it would be stressful for a 17-year-old girl to have so many adults come to her like that...

 "Where is Ms. Amelia?"

"I think she's in the lab making medicine."

"I'll go talk to her. Just wait a little bit, okay?"

Sara hurried to the lab where Amelia was.

"Ms. Amelia, can you tell me how Ms. Alicia is doing?"

 "Oh, Miss Sara, you're here."

"I just got here. I'm sorry to hear it's been so tough."

"I'm fine, but Ms. Alicia's stomach is almost in serious trouble. We're giving her medicine for now, but it's hard to ease her stomach pain..."

"I'll use healing magic. So, I'd like you to help restore her strength."

"That should help for now. But if we don't deal with the root cause, it might come back."

"I had the alchemists who caused the commotion taken away by the knights. They should be getting a good talking-to at the knight headquarters right now. My grandfather will probably send a complaint to the academy, and the family of the professor who was leading them won't be spared either. Considering my grandfather's personality, he'll likely send a complaint to the royal family too."

"Will that be enough to settle things?"

Amelia the Pharmacist Girl's expression was dark.

"To be honest, I might not have high hopes. Ms. Alicia's discovery is a terrifying technology that could greatly change the value of magic stones."

 "Is it really that serious?"

"Yeah. I think it's at a level where countries could fight over it. I believe this information will probably spread widely around the world somewhere."

 "Ms. Alicia is amazing."

"You look like it's someone else's problem, but Ms. Amelia, it's going to be tough for you too, you know?"

 "Huh, me?"

"I think we shouldn't underestimate the desire for 'beauty,' whether it's women or maybe even men. Also, um... the products for men got complaints from the red-light district, so I have a feeling they might sell well through word of mouth."

"Oh, is that what you mean...?"

"That might be the reason, but..."

 "What happened?"

"I heard that there are a lot of inquiries coming into the Sophia Merchant Guild from customers, um, they're asking if there's anything to make the other person aggressive... Apparently, there's demand from both men and women."

 "Ah, well, that makes sense."

It feels a bit inappropriate for a conversation between an 8-year-old and a 19-year-old girl, but it's a pretty serious topic for product development in the merchant guild.

"However, I'm scared it might be used for criminal activities."

 "That's true."

"It seems like it could become a headache."

While Sara was raising concerns about the developed products, Amelia made a potion to restore Alicia's energy. Adding honey to make it slightly sweet is probably Amelia's kindness.

Sara and Amelia returned to Alicia's room together. Sara used her light magic to heal Alicia's stomach, and immediately, Amelia made Alicia drink a herbal medicine.

"Ms. Alicia, how are you feeling? Since my herbal medicine isn't instant, you might still feel tired for now, but I think you'll feel better by tomorrow. Miss Sara's magic should have healed your stomach, but just to be safe, let's have something gentle on your stomach for today's meal."

"Thank you very much. Miss Sara, Ms. Amelia. The pain is gone, and I feel much better, thanks to your skilled herbal remedies."

"I'm sorry you had to wait until it got this bad."

"It's okay, I knew you were really busy, Miss Sara."

Alicia suddenly smiled. Teresa, who was next to her, started laughing too.

"Hehehe. Did you see those silly alchemists?"

"Yes. The moment the magic was activated, the golems all changed their attitude and they turned pale, right?"

"The guard's sword would break if it hit a golem."

 ""Hahahahaha!""

Alicia and Teresa began to laugh uncontrollably. Seeing this, Sara and Amelia, who had been watching in surprise, couldn't help but smile too.

"I always thought the Academy was just 'authoritarian' and looked down on it. So when I went to take the Academy's exam, I felt like, 'You guys are going to experience being beaten by a girl you look down on.' Looking back, I was such a brat."

"But it's crazy that Alicia is so talented, yet can't get in just because she's a girl!"

"That's the same for you, Ms. Amelia. And Teresa can't join the blacksmith guild either, right?"

"I was definitely frustrated. I can't officially register as a pharmacist in the guild. More than anything, I feel sorry for Sir Alexander who guided me."

"Mr. Alexander probably wanted Ms. Amelia to go to the Academy."

"I'm sure Mr. Fran feels the same way about Ms. Teresa not being able to officially register as a blacksmith in the guild."

 "Is that really true?"

 "Of course it is!"

Alicia smiled amusingly and turned to Sara.

"But Miss Sara, I realized that even without the title of 'Academy Graduate' or 'Guild Approved' after coming to Maiden's Tower, I can still do the most interesting work of alchemy. There's no other place that lets me use magic stones like a fool or create golems easily with magic!"

"There's no doubt about it! Making weapons for Miss Sara is the most fun thing ever. And I've even started making other products besides weapons. I never thought I'd be working on the metal processing of the magic circle drawn by Alicia."

"I'm surprised you can do such detailed work."

"Well, to me, both of you look like geniuses."

""Did Ms. Amelia just say that!?""

As Teresa and Alicia shouted at the same time, the 3 of them burst into laughter.

"In the end, I guess I was also stuck in the same authoritarian mindset tied to titles. Watching the academy people get caught by golems made me realize how silly I was for worrying about trivial things. Ahahaha."

"It really was funny, wasn't it? Plus, I was just thinking that I don't need to be a guild-certified pharmacist anymore."

 "Right!"

"Then, is your stomach feeling better now?"

 "Probably okay!"

"That's good. I was worried about what kind of medicine to make if Ms. Alicia's stomach got any worse."

Suddenly, Teresa became serious and looked at Amelia.

"Hey, I've been meaning to ask, can I call you Amelia? I want you to call me Teresa too. We're friends now, right?"

"Ah~ that's not fair. I want to call you Amelia too! You can call me Alicia!"

"Um, so it's Teresa and Alicia, right? Nice to meet you again?"

Amelia blushed a little, looking so cute that both Alicia and Teresa couldn't help but swoon at the same time.

"That expression is amazing! You don't look like an older sister at all!"

"If Mr. Alexander saw this, he'd totally fall for you, right?"

Sara felt a bit left out and lonely.

"That's nice. I want to join too..."

"Miss Sara, you're on a different level than us, and I heard you're really going to become a Viscount's daughter soon, right?"

 "But that's boring."

 Then Teresa smirked.

"But Miss Sara hasn't shared any secrets with us."

"Oh, that's not something friends do, right?"

"I'm feeling a little lonely too."

The maidens were grinning at Sara.

"Okay, okay. I get it, it's obvious. Just wait a moment."

Sara hid behind something and called Mike to transform into Sophia.

"With this look, we're about the same age, so you can call me Sophia, right?"

 "You finally said it."

Teresa replied with an exasperated tone.

 "Is it really that obvious?"

"That's right, but it's not like we can't name them. We're friends with the fairies, after all. We know about it pretty early, you know? Even though transforming takes a lot of magic, Sophia can change forms easily multiple times a day, which surprises the fairies."

"Oh, I forgot to tell the fairies to keep it a secret!"

"You're so careless about things like that, Miss Sara."

"I think it's typical of Sophia, but please be careful, okay?"

Alicia and Amelia both called her Sophia properly.

"Well, the women in the village said the same thing, so I'm sure Miss Cordelia the female educator thinks the same way."

"It's not just because you look alike; it's the way you act and what you talk about that gives it away. Plus, in a few years, there's no way to hide it, right?"

"Yeah, I know... What should I do? I feel like they might ask me to sit together soon."

 Just then, Mike suddenly appeared.

"Then why not just make a golem version of Sophia!"

 "Huh!?"
