Volume 1 Chapter 30 Lydia, Entangled, And Entangled Again

After saying goodbye to Mx. Margaret, I placed the frozen octopus on the restaurant's work table.

When I finally set down the carrying basket, I let out a deep sigh of relief.

"It was heavy... I'm grateful for the octopus, but it was heavy..."

Since I'm opening a restaurant, transporting ingredients is a job I can't avoid.

"The carrying basket is really useful. I should bake some cookies to thank the lady at the vegetable shop next time."

I generally like meals that fill me up, but that doesn't mean I can't make sweets.

 Sweets are nice too.

Eating something sweet makes me feel calm.

When I was in the priest's family, I never had the chance to eat sweets.

"...The chiffon cake I had at the tea party His Highness invited me to was delicious..."

It was the first cake I ever tasted, and it was so good.

And His Highness was kind back then.

"...I need to forget, I shouldn't keep taking my anger out on cooking. It's sad for the ingredients... I've reflected on that."

I don't like His Highness anymore, but when I think about cookies, memories of the chiffon cake come back.

That chiffon cake had tea leaves in it, with lightly sweetened cream and raspberry jam on top. It was delicious.

"I guess... to attract children and cute girls, I should extend the opening hours until afternoon tea time and serve delicious sweets and tea..."

I sat on the round stool next to the work table, mumbling to myself.

 Just a little break.

I came back from the market carrying stuff, so I got tired.

"...Sweets aren't so bad, right? Of course, meals are important, but sweets are like a comfort for the heart... I won't get angry anymore, I won't dwell on past loves..."

 Yeah, yeah.

 That's true.

 It's important.

According to my research, men don't like sweets.

Sir Stefan was sitting at the table set up in the castle courtyard, smiling as he watched me eat chiffon cake for the first time.

He said he doesn't eat sweets because he doesn't like them.

So, Mr. Lucian, the Leonsroar guys, and also Sir Ciel and the Saintwise people probably feel the same way, and the mercenaries and adventurers must be the same too.

"Sir Ciel said he likes spicy food, so I don't think he would eat them."

Sir Ciel is a friend, so he can come over for a meal.

Anyway, to fill my cute little shop with cute customers, I need sweets.

"For now, octopus, right? Octopus. But before that, I need to take a bath and change."

I stood up from the stool to deal with my hair and clothes wet from seawater.

 There's still time until noon.

I have enough time to take a bath, prepare lunch, and reopen the shop.

 "Alright!"

I pumped myself up and stood up.

But then, something slimy wrapped around my feet as I stood up with determination.

 "Aah!"

 I was surprised and screamed.

 "W-What, wh-what, what is this...?"

 Scary. Scary.

 I'm scared.

Something slimy is crawling up my body.

The giant octopus, which should have been frozen on the workbench, is wrapping around me.

 Why?

It was frozen... it was stiff just a moment ago...!

"Eek... Mr. Octopus, please don't be mad, I'll cook you deliciously, so please don't be angry, waah, don't be so slimy...!"

 Mr. Octopus is angry.

Well, I can't really tell if it's angry. After all, it's an octopus.

Anyway, Mr. Octopus has wrapped its tentacle, as thick as my leg, around my leg hiding under my skirt, squeezing my waist tightly with its tentacle, and touching my face with the tips of its suction-cup-covered arms.

"Don't eat me... I can't be eaten, I'm not food...!"

I try to pull away by grabbing the slimy tentacle, but because of the strong suction cups, Mr. Octopus doesn't seem to want to let go, and my hands slip on its slimy body, making it hard to grab it properly.

"Ugh, Sir Ciel, help me, Sir Ciel...!"

When my life is in danger, wasn't Sir Ciel's gem supposed to help me?

The gem in my pocket isn't making a sound at all.

So, does that mean this isn't really a life-threatening situation?

I'm just tangled up with an octopus, after all.

"The ice magic must have melted... I should have cooked it right after I got back..."

It's impressive how the octopus can still be alive even when frozen.

 I guess it's because it's so big.

Big things tend to have strong life forces.

His Highness's sausage is not as impressive as Sir Ciel's sausage, right?

It's all about the size of a person's character.

Hyomon is more gentlemanly than the giant octopus because he's bigger...!

 "Aahhh!"

I ended up thinking about confusing things because I was so flustered.

Meanwhile, the octopus keeps wrapping around my body.

Is today just one of those days where I get wrapped by an octopus multiple times? Could this octopus be the one that Mx. Margaret mentioned, the one from the Death Card?

"...What are you doing this afternoon? Do you have such a hobby?"

What kind of hobby is that!

What kind of hobby involves getting wrapped by an octopus!

 And who is it!

"Lydia, just because your engagement was broken off, you shouldn't play around with an octopus..."

Speaking to me in a cold voice while opening the restaurant door and coming toward me is a man I know.

It's Sir Roxas, the second son of the Duke Girard family, who was Francois's former fiancé.
