Volume 3 Chapter 15 Warm Salmon Stew And Sir Stefan's Objection
I wore a white dress with fluffy lace bloomers underneath.
I had on round, woolly socks that looked like sheep, and I draped a red shawl over my shoulders.
I also put a small shawl on Eir-Eir, who was dried off with a towel.
Eir-Eir, wrapped in a matching red shawl around her neck──it's hard to see her shoulders because she's so round──happily said, "Pumpkin!".
Eir-Eir's little accessories were made by the 'Saintwise Craft Club,' which includes Mr.
Leavis and a few others from Saintwise.
Shawls, hats, and scarves have been steadily increasing lately.
Since my hair was still wet, I went downstairs with a towel wrapped around my head.
Eir-Eir was perched on my shoulder.
The voices coming from downstairs sounded quite lively.
As I carefully walked down the stairs, I could smell something delicious coming from the kitchen.
"Princess, welcome back! Did you take a bath? You smell nice, and so does Eiris!"
Sir Rail came over to me and poked Eir-Eir, who was all fluffy and white.
Eir-Eir proudly shook her body and said, "Pumpkin pudding!" while flapping her wings.
"Lydia... um, that outfit..."
Sir Roxas, who was sitting on a chair in the kitchen with Arjuna on his lap, stood up with a clatter.
Arjuna fell to the floor with a thud.
It seemed like he had been completely asleep, and he shook his body in annoyance on the floor.
"Outfit...?"
"N-no, it's nothing."
It was definitely something.
His reaction was not just nothing.
Was there something wrong with my outfit? I checked my appearance.
I used to wear only black clothes, but lately, I've started wearing cute and pretty things.
I realized that I liked cute and pretty things, and wearing them made me feel cheerful.
But maybe it didn't suit me.
"Roxas, I think it's only acceptable for a guy to get flustered in front of a woman who just got out of the bath until he's 15 years old."
"That's not it, brother, it's not like that."
Sir Roxas cleared his throat and picked up the still-sleeping Arjuna from the floor, quietly returning to his chair.
"Ms. Lydia, your hair is wet. Let's dry it."
"Wait, Ciel, the conversation isn't over yet."
"Your Highness, please wait a moment."
Sir Stefan scolded Sir Ciel in a serious tone.
I wondered what was going on, so I walked closer, and Sir Ciel lightly touched my head.
A gentle breeze wrapped around my hair, quickly drying it.
Thanks to magic, my hair dried to a shiny, smooth finish.
Eir-Eir, still a bit damp, was also dried by Sir Ciel's magic, making her body shiny and fluffy.
"Wow, thank you! Magic is so convenient. I wish I could do the same things as Sir Ciel since I have magic too..."
I smiled as I stroked my shiny hair.
Sir Ciel is definitely a friend to women. It's probably why Sir Ciel's hair is always shiny and beautiful──because he dries it with magic.
"That might be difficult. It's rare to find someone who can skillfully control their magic like Ciel does. In fact, it's probably just Ciel."
"I see..."
Since Sir Rail has been adventuring and has seen many mages, I guess he knows what he's talking about.
"If you ever need it, just call me. My house is close to yours, Ms. Lydia, so I can come every day to help dry your hair."
"Ciel."
"Yes?"
"Is it really okay for a young man to visit a young woman's house alone?"
Sir Stefan crossed his arms and warned Sir Ciel.
Sir Ciel tilted his head and said, "I think it's fine if we're friends.".
"Ciel, Lucian, Roxas."
Sir Stefan lightly tapped the kitchen counter.
There was a menu from Lobelia Diner House placed there.
Why is there a menu?.
I went over to Mr. Lucian, who was stirring a big pot on the stove.
Inside the pot, there was a white soup.
It had onions, parsley, and mushrooms. The reddish meat was probably salmon.
Salmon stew, it looks delicious.
When I looked up at Mr. Lucian, he smiled gently at me.
He has a nice face.
Just stirring the salmon stew, Mr. Lucian looks impressive.
I admired him for a moment, then thought again.
Mr. Lucian is used to cooking because of his work with the Holy Knights and cooking for events.
Sir Ciel said he can't cook, and Sir Roxas is busy taking care of Arjuna's dad's bed, while Sir Rail started playing with Eir-Eir in his palm.
I don't think Sir Stefan can cook either.
If that's the case, then Mr. Lucian is the one who made the salmon stew.
Mr. Lucian is a great cook.
(Still, I wonder why Sir Stefan is angry.)
Speaking of which, Sir Stefan was kind when we first got engaged, but he was also quite angry back then.
"You guys, what is going on here? While I can't be by Lydia's side, what have you done to her?"
"Sir Stefan, I haven't really been done anything to... I was kidnapped when we first met, but other than that..."
"Kidnapped!?"
"Calm down, Sir Stefan. That story is over."
"But, Lydia. What is this menu...! Why do the sausages have names?"
"Well, it's a long story..."
The menu lists sausages named after Mr. Lucian, Sir Ciel, and the Girard family, which have become quite popular recently.
Only Sir Rail said, "I don't have much to do with this," while playing with Eir-Eir.
"When I made the sausages in the sizes you all like, that's how it turned out..."
I looked up at Sir Stefan, wondering why he was angry, and saw him glaring at Mr. Lucian with half-closed eyes.
"Is that true, Lucian?"
"Uh, well, it's more like it just happened without us noticing..."
"Ciel."
"I thought it was a battle to have sausages represent our existence."
"Roxas."
"Your Highness... there are battles that men cannot lose."
"You guys, taking advantage of the fact that Lydia is a pure and innocent angel, what are you making her do?"
Everyone was getting scolded by Sir Stefan.
Why?.
Sir Stefan should have come back to his senses and be kind again, so why is he angry?.
"Is it bad, the sausages?"
"It's not that the sausages are bad... Lydia, please don't make that sad face. You're cute, it's been 5 years since I've seen you... but no, from now on, we will sell them as regular sausages."
"They're quite popular, and it's easier to understand when they have names."
"Lydia hasn't done anything wrong. You all are adults, so stop teasing a child."
"Sir Stefan, I might seem like I'm 13 to you, but I'm already 18!"
I'm not a child.
Still──.
"Putting sausages aside, I'm hungry, Mr. Lucian. The salmon stew looks delicious."
"Ah. It's ready. Shall we eat, Lydia?"
"Yes!"
Mr. Lucian patted my head, and I smiled.
I wonder if Sir Stefan wants sausages too.
Does he remember the mean comment about them being the size of my thumb?.
If so, I'm sorry.
Even though Sir Stefan didn't seem satisfied, we happily ate the salmon stew together.
Eir-Eir stuck her face into the bowl of salmon stew, making her nicely cleaned body all messy with stew.
Arjuna's dad had been curled up and sleeping the whole time.
I wonder if he's not going to eat. Since he's a dog, what does he eat? I really need to think about that.
