Volume 3 Chapter 35 Cute Menu And Mr. Lucian Who Came To Visit

I felt kind of lazy for a few days, but taking a break from Lobelia helped me feel a bit better, even if not completely.

Tomorrow, I plan to go to the market, think about new menu items, and buy some new dishes. I also want to get a cute cat bowl that will make Ms. Famine happy.

While thinking about this, I grabbed my notebook and fountain pen, and spread my notebook out on the kitchen counter on the first floor, doodling around.

 "Cute menu, tough."

 "Pumpkin pudding."

 "Tarte Tatin."

Eir-Eir was swaying while peeking at my notebook, and Ms. Famine was sitting nearby, looking in too.

Sometimes, Ms. Famine would lightly hit Eir-Eir, and Eir-Eir would hit back.

I thought they were fighting, but it seemed like they were just playing.

In my notebook, I had words like winter, cute, fish, and warm written down like spells.

I also wrote down pumpkin pudding and Tarte Tatin.

"I'm thinking of having pumpkin pudding and Tarte Tatin for dessert."

 "Pumpkin!"

 "Tart!"

Eir-Eir flapped her wings, and Ms. Famine wagged her tail.

 They looked happy.

I was happy too. Apples and pumpkins are delicious in winter, so they're perfect for dessert.

A regular apple pie would be fine, but I think Ms. Famine would prefer Tarte Tatin.

 "Lydia, are you there?"

I've been focusing more on filling people up than on cute dishes, so maybe I'm not very creative.

Most of the people who come to my restaurant are big, muscular guys anyway.

While I was thinking about this, I heard a knock at the restaurant door and a voice.

 "Mr. Lucian, hello!"

When I opened the door, Mr. Lucian was standing there with a paper bag.

Today, he wasn't in his knight uniform but wearing regular clothes.

He had a black coat with gold buttons and a bright red scarf.

His golden hair was loosely tied back.

Mr. Lucian always looks stylish. Outside, the alley was covered in white snow.

It wasn't enough to block the door, but it hadn't melted yet.

The snowman I made for Eir-Eir yesterday was lined up in front of the entrance.

"What's up, Mr. Lucian? Are you off today?"

"Yeah. I was worried about you, so I came to check on you. I thought I'd make lunch too."

"Thank you! I'm feeling pretty good already. Sir Ciel told me to take a break until Sunday, though."

"Definitely do that. It's not good to push yourself."

"Right. But I feel like I'm getting too lazy, like I might melt away."

 "Like you're..."

 "Like an octopus."

 "Octopus..."

Mr. Lucian repeated my words slowly and then smiled gently.

"You always work hard, so it's okay to take a break and melt a little. If someone else is coming, I can leave, but is that okay?"

"It's fine. I don't have any plans. Thank you for coming, Mr. Lucian."

 "Can I cook?"

"Yes, ...is that okay? It's your day off, Mr. Lucian."

I led Mr. Lucian into the restaurant.

Once inside, he placed the paper bag on the counter.

Then, he lightly petted my dad, who was sleeping on a stool, patted Eir-Eir, and tried to pet Ms. Famine, but she swatted his hand away.

"Ms. Famine seems to dislike being petted. Sometimes, even when I try to pet her, she runs away."

"I see, sorry about that. I just can't help wanting to touch her."

"Do you like animals, Mr. Lucian?"

"Yeah. I like both dogs and cats. I think Eiris is cute, even if I can't tell if it's a bird or a rice cake."

"Super cute... yeah, it's cute. I'm thinking of a cute food menu right now."

I showed Mr. Lucian the notebook on the counter.

It was filled with doodles of Eir-Eir, doodles of Ms. Famine, and a doodle shaped like my dad, all mixed together.

"I thought if I made the food look like animals, it would be cuter. But I have no idea how to do that."

"I don't think you need to worry too much about it being cute. Lydia's food is tasty even if it's not cute."

"But I think if it's cute, girls and kids might like it more."

"That's true... but since there are a lot of guys around Lydia, it's hard for them to give opinions about cute things."

"I have more guy friends too. Mr. Lucian brings a lot of knights, so we usually have more male customers... but lately, thanks to the menu named after Mr. Lucian and the others, we've had more women come in."

"I wonder if those women are really coming because of that."

 "What do you mean?"

 "Well..."

When I tilted my head, Mr. Lucian hesitated to answer.

Then he took out potatoes, ground meat, carrots, bacon, and cheese from a paper bag.

"Lydia, do you think you can eat lunch?"

"Yeah, I just woke up and was sipping tea, so I can eat. I was actually thinking about making breakfast and lunch together soon."

 "I hope meat is okay."

"I like anything. Mr. Lucian, are you going to cook for me? That makes me happy!"

"Yeah... when I'm alone, I don't feel like cooking, but when it's for you, I get really motivated. I think I bought too much stuff."

"Thank you! Eir-Eir eats a lot, and my dad loves meat too."

 "Then I'll borrow the kitchen."

 "Sure, go ahead."

I was so happy that someone was going to cook for me, so I looked up at the tall Mr. Lucian and smiled.

Mr. Lucian lightly patted my hair.

Even though we were close, I felt like Mr. Lucian has always been like this.

I sat on the second stool he brought to the kitchen and watched his big hands and long fingers as he started preparing the ingredients.
