Volume 3 Chapter 5 The Great Spider Hunt Of The Level 99 Heroes
Mr. Lucian, riding Fafnir, returns to us with Sir Stefan.
When Sir Stefan is lowered from Fafnir, he is limp and unresponsive.
His beautiful golden hair and nice clothes are covered in spider silk, and his body is full of wounds.
"Sir Stefan, are you okay, Sir Stefan...!"
I rushed to Sir Stefan, who has his eyes tightly closed.
I kneel beside him as Mr. Lucian lays him down on the ground.
Mr. Lucian gently strokes my cheek and says, "I leave His Highness to you. I will go now," and immediately jumps back onto Fafnir, flying off toward Sir Rail.
"After being under the witch's control for so long and using so much power from the holy sword, he has lost a lot of strength and magic. The holy sword, given by the goddess to the ancestor in ancient times, is meant to be passed down to the heir to the throne──but it is also a power that cannot be controlled by humans."
"Father... Sir Stefan, he's bleeding..."
Father Feldur kneels beside me and holds his hand over Sir Stefan.
His side is stained red, likely from being slashed by the giant spider, spreading a red stain on the white stone floor.
Francois watches us from a little distance, saying nothing.
Dad Arjuna sits next to me, and Eir-Eir is perched on Dad Arjuna's head, looking worriedly at Sir Stefan.
"Healing wind, come forth."
The magic created by Father Feldur gently surrounds Sir Stefan's body with warmth.
But──his wounds do not heal, and Sir Stefan does not open his eyes.
"Famine is the witch of death by starvation. The wounds inflicted by Famine carry a curse of death."
Dad Arjuna looks up at me. Eir-Eir says in a serious tone, "Pudding."
"But Francois's wounds were healed by Sir Ciel..."
"Famine has some compassion for women."
Dad Arjuna tilts his head.
Eir-Eir also tilts her head and says solemnly, "Pudding..."
"Does that mean Famine is hiding among the spiders?"
Sir Roxas approaches and speaks calmly.
"Or perhaps, she is hiding somewhere, pretending to be someone else. Famine can change her appearance."
"How troublesome."
Sir Roxas crosses his arms, irritated by Dad Arjuna's response.
Above the temple, Sir Rail laughs loudly, saying, "Do you think mere spiders can defeat me, the Hero Fox Mask!" as he slashes at the incoming spider legs with his 2 swords.
Mr. Lucian, who jumped down from the high-flying Fafnir, lands on the back of a spider and stabs his sword into it.
The many spiders fall one after another, entangled with each other.
"Ciel, let's finish this quickly. It's hard for us to weaken them without killing them!"
"Ah. Killing is easy, but── not killing is hard. The good thing about monsters is that no one complains no matter how much you crush them, but today, that's not the case."
The motionless spiders, with their cut-off legs and bodies wrapped in tough skin, began to heal.
They slowly rose up and headed towards Sir Rail and the others again.
Sir Rail and Mr. Lucian were trying not to deal fatal blows to the spiders, avoiding attacks and crushing their legs and eyes to make them unable to move, but as long as the witch was somewhere around, it seemed like the spiders would keep rising infinitely.
"Let's weaken them all at once, Ciel. Once they're weak, I'll handle it somehow."
"...I'm not good at not breaking things either, but let's give it a try. You two, stay back."
A magic circle appeared at Sir Ciel's feet.
The magic circle made Sir Ciel's clothes and hair flutter gently.
Mr. Lucian called back Fafnir, who lifted Sir Rail and Mr. Lucian's bodies.
"Judgment of Gold."
As Sir Ciel chanted, dark clouds gathered in the sky.
Multiple lightning bolts rained down on the spiders, burning their bodies.
The intense flow of magical power caused debris to fly up, crashing into the barrier created by the priests.
From the people taking shelter, there were screams and gasps of awe.
When the widespread lightning stopped, Sir Rail raised his hand over the blackened, motionless spiders.
"I'll turn back time until before they were possessed by the witch. Time magic, Water of Youth."
With Sir Rail's words, the giant spiders, which were as big as small hills, blurred and vanished like a mirage.
After the big spiders disappeared, several priests were found collapsed on the rubble, overlapping each other.
"Everyone, take the injured to the princess. I'll repair the broken buildings. Hurry!"
"Brother, you're out of magic already. Leave the annoying debris to me and Ciel."
"Lucian and Sir Rail, please carry the injured."
In response to Sir Rail's instructions, Sir Roxas shook his head and said.
He headed towards the now unrecognizable, collapsed Great Temple with Sir Ciel.
I suddenly grabbed the small shoulder of my father, Arjuna, next to me.
Well, it was more like I grabbed his neck or body.
It was fuzzy, so I couldn't tell, but I grabbed it anyway.
"Father, I... I have things to do... I need to cook, to help everyone."
For Sir Stefan, the people who had been turned into spiders, and those left behind in the Great Temple.
"Just believe. Your power is within you."
"...But I don't know how to do it."
"For example, a spell is just a word to focus your mind and build magic. It's like self-suggestion. 'I am strong.' That phrase can truly make someone strong. It's a word spirit. It has no power, but it becomes power."
"It's difficult, Father."
"So, you probably need a chant."
"A chant...?"
"Feel free to chant as you like. To fulfill your wish, Lydia."
Spell. Incantation. ── Spell.
I, who have no magic power, watched the magic class from the corner of the academy, thinking that magic is great and incantations are cool.
(Like Sir Ciel, such a cool incantation...)
What should I do? I can't think of anything.
But I can't just say I can't think of anything. It's an emergency.
"──Okay. ...Come forth, Kitchen of the Goddess!"
I clasp my hands in front of my chest and chant as if I'm praying.
"Kitchen of the Goddess..."
"Kitchen of the Goddess."
"Pumpkin pudding!"
"Sister... so cute...!"
My father, Dad (Arjuna), Eir-Eir, and Francois each murmur their thoughts.
What should I do? I'm embarrassed.
Only Eir-Eir and Francois praised me. Good kids.
As if responding to my voice, the scenery in front of the Great Temple changes.
What appears is my familiar restaurant.
This is the second time in the summoned Lobelia Diner House's kitchen.
