Volume 10 Chapter 39 Invitation To The Moon
──I have to respond to Sir Ciel's voice.
I'm not able to use the magic called telepathy, but I guess it's fine if I just answer normally.
I'm not sure if I should speak out loud, but for now, I have no choice but to give it a try.
"Mr. Lucian, Sir Ciel is calling... something bad might have happened."
"Ciel? ...At this timing, huh?"
Mr. Lucian says while being tugged by Eir-Eir and the others with his long golden hair.
Feeling a bit uneasy, I hugged Med, Nel-Nel, and my dad tightly in my arms.
"Lucian, Lydia's panic means something happened. Relationships should start with a shared diary, you know."
"I'm not against the idea of a shared diary, Dad. Lydia, how about we try a shared diary? Between us."
"Uh... that sounds a bit fun... but wait, this isn't the time for that!"
Shaking off the temptation of a shared diary, I decided to respond to Sir Ciel.
Since I'm being called, I think it must be an emergency.
Sir Ciel wouldn't call me unless it was something serious.
Of course, it's better if nothing is wrong.
I'd be happier if he said something like, "I just wanted to hear Ms. Lydia's voice."
(Am I... maybe a bit of a flirt? What should I do? I don't know...)
I can't help but think that a shared diary with Mr. Lucian sounds fun, and even now, I'm a little excited.
But when Sir Ciel's voice echoes in my head, I feel anxious yet a bit happy.
This is really not good.
"...Ugh."
"Lydia. Put your love troubles aside for now and quickly respond to Ciel. I have a bad feeling about this."
"Y-You're right, Dad! Um, uh... Sir Ciel! Sir Ciel! I'm here, in the Kirschtein underground, in the treasure vault!"
As I called out, the gem on the necklace hanging around my neck glimmered slightly.
This is a gem processed from the same stone that Sir Ciel gave me once.
When I was attacked by FraFra, who was being controlled by Ms. Famine, Sir Ciel's jewel broke to protect my life.
So, I received a new one, this time as a necklace. I wore it all the time just in case something happened──.
"──Ms. Lydia, Lucian, Dad, everyone."
The floor in front of us glowed red, and in an instant, Sir Ciel appeared.
When I saw Sir Ciel's face, I felt like I was doing something bad alone with Mr. Lucian, so I averted my gaze.
"I'm glad you told me the location. I can sense the presence, but pinpointing it is difficult. ...Ms. Lydia, Lucian, and something."
"N-no, no, nothing."
I wanted to wave my hands around, but they were occupied with Med, and Dad, so instead of waving my hands, I waved everyone around.
Nel-Nel and the others were spinning in my arms, murmuring in small voices, "fried horse mackerel..." "shiratama...".
"Is something happened?"
"Let's talk about that later. ──It seems we don't have much time. Tears of the Rose has occurred."
"Isn't that usual?"
"No, this time is different. It's as if a red moon is falling, with a massive number of monsters, and that's probably the Witch's form. Why now? Has the seal been broken? I don't know, but it seems we don't have time to think."
"A lot of monsters..."
"Ms. Lydia. I used to think I could handle it alone── but not anymore. I'm going to protect you. Please come with me."
"Yes, of course, Sir Ciel! I was researching to help Sylphina."
"Did you find anything?"
"Absolutely!"
"I see, I can count on you."
"Feel free to rely on me, I will fulfill my role. That's what my power is for."
Since Sir Ciel praised me, I smiled brightly.
I look up at Mr. Lucian, who is sitting next to me.
"Mr. Lucian."
"What is it?"
"Please don't say things like 'last time.' If something happens to you, I'll stuff jam-covered meatballs in your mouth, you know."
"...Ah, right. Please do that. I'd prefer it if you fed me like you did with Ciel."
"Well, that's, you know, only if the situation calls for it."
Mr. Lucian chuckled and placed his hand on my head.
Eir-Eir moved to sit on Sir Ciel's head, and Ms. Famine also hopped onto his shoulder, patting Sir Ciel's face playfully.
"Pumpkin pudding."
"Tarte Tatin."
"They are asking if Mom fell?"
"...Yeah. Probably. It's okay, I'm sure Ms. Lydia will save your mom. Our job is to protect the people and keep Ms. Lydia safe."
Mer-Mer also gracefully jumped onto Sir Ciel's shoulder and rubbed their head against his cheek.
"──Alright, let's go. Sir Stefan and the others are surely waiting in the Holy Capital. First, we'll protect everyone from the monsters falling in the Holy Capital, and then we'll rise to the moon."
I nodded.
I thought about the young girl Sylphina.
Surely, there's still a girl filled with happiness and joy inside her.
──I hope that's the case.
The teleportation magic circle created by Sir Ciel enveloped us.
In an instant, we moved from the underground of Kirschtein to the front of the Great Temple in the Holy Capital.
