Volume 10 Chapter 44 Prison Of The Red Moon
Dad's glowing yakitori skewer pierced through the giant Sylphina's face, creating a hole.
Sylphina was clawing at her face with both hands, but soon, her face began to twist and contort.
"It'll open in an instant. The regeneration will start right away. Leave this to me, and go!"
When Dad raised his hand again lightly, countless shining, round orbs appeared.
Orbs──well, more like──.
"Dad, they kinda look like yakitori tsukune!"
"Tsukune is my favorite food!"
Countless tsukune rained down on Sylphina's face, and the center of her face opened wide.
I thought the giant woman was Sylphina's true form, but it seems that's not the case.
Mer-Mer flew toward the center of the opened face.
The torn face was trying to come back together, with countless hand-like things sprouting from the wound and connecting.
It looked like a giant forest, trying to ensnare us as we moved forward, but Mer-Mer dodged up and down to avoid it.
"Come forth, holy sword!"
Sir Stefan raised his hand high, and a shining sword appeared in it.
He cut through the swarm of ominous black flame-winged butterflies that were attacking us from the red forest.
The holy light of the holy sword easily slashed through the flame butterflies, tearing apart a large faceless figure with red wings made of countless blood vessels that appeared before us, scattering it into mist.
After passing through a long, cave-like space, we emerged into a vast, empty hall.
In the center of this hall, several awkward iron bars were sticking out.
On the other side of the bars sat a beautiful woman, her hands and feet shackled, sitting flat on the floor.
The ceiling of the hall was spread with red. Just red. That's all.
There was nothing else. The floor was lined with diamond-shaped tiles, alternating between red and black.
Even though the moon was descending, a giant woman was sprouting from the moon's outer shell, continuously giving birth to monsters──yet inside the moon, silence reigned.
Sylphina was mindlessly making a clattering noise, trying to pull off the handcuffs and shackles that were sprouting from the floor with her hands and feet.
She was a beautiful woman dressed in a black dress.
With golden hair and blue eyes──a doll-like beauty──she looked up as if she had just noticed us for the first time when we took a step forward.
"Alexandria, Sir Theobart..."
A cool, yet weary voice echoed.
Hatred flickered in her wide-open eyes.
"I hate you, I hate you...! I want to kill you, kill you, die, die!"
She must have repeated those words countless times.
I remember them too.
That emotion is strongly etched in Sylphina's memory.
Red tears spilled from Sylphina's eyes.
Her blue irises darkened from the white of her eyeballs, and her once-blue pupils turned red.
Long nails extended from her delicate white hands.
Her golden hair spread across the floor as Sylphina swayed and stood up.
"Sylphina, I came to talk!"
"Shut up, Alexandria! You arrogant goddess...! The seal will be broken. I-I will kill you."
"I'm not Alexandria. Goddess Alexandria and God Theobart are no longer here. They disappeared a long time ago...!"
"Shut up!"
As I tried to rush towards Sylphina, Sir Stefan stopped me.
With Sylphina's fury, the ceiling of the vast space began to swell with blood droplets, as if countless fingertips had been cut with knives, plumping up and falling down.
They curled on the floor, transforming into countless awkward human shapes.
Those monster-like figures lunged at us all at once.
Sir Stefan's holy sword shone, slicing through the multitude of monsters.
However, he was barely managing to fend off the endless waves of monsters, leaving a distance between him and Sylphina.
I wanted to talk to her──yet, I was being rejected. And that's understandable.
Sylphina had been all alone. Betrayed by the one she loved, she had been all alone.
In a lonely place, all by myself, I was trapped in a prison of sadness and hatred.
I can't say I'm the same as Sylphina.
But I was the same.
At first, when I was asked for help by Sir Ciel, I ran away, reluctant, and spat out my resentments.
I kept complaining that I couldn't trust men.
I couldn't realize that my rejecting attitude was hurting Sir Ciel.
──Even if I'm rejected, hated, or despised, I have to reach out to Sylphina.
It's for Eir-Eir and the others.
To fulfill Goddess Alexandria's wish.
But it's not just that.
I want to help Sylphina.
I want to rescue that cute girl who wrote the diary from a sad and scary place.
"Sylphina! I want to talk to you! I came here to help you! I'm Lydia Rest! I'm the cook at Lobelia Diner House!"
I might be a Saint.
But being a Saint isn't that important.
I want to feed a girl who's lonely, suffering, and can't eat anything.
I want to give her a delicious meal.
As a cook from Lobelia.
"Even though you're a goddess who's always being protected. You don't even have the power to fight."
Sylphina said that quietly.
"Lydia!"
At almost the same moment that Sir Stefan called my name, a pitch-black hole opened up at my feet, and I slipped right into it.
