Volume 10 Chapter 8 A Temporary Daily Life
In the end, Mr. Lucian still couldn't hear Eir-Eir and the others's voice.
Sir Ciel, on the other hand, helped wash the dishes and clean up (he cleaned the plates in a flash and put them away in the cupboard). I played with the Fairy dragon, petting and holding it close.
The Fairy dragon, with its beautiful emerald green fur, looked like a mix between a fox and a squirrel. It just relaxed and slept, no matter how much I petted or held it.
It was all floppy and chill.
Eir-Eir and Nel-Nel poked the floppy Fairy dragon with their hands.
Ms. Famine also nudged it with her nose.
Maybe they were curious about the new little one.
"Sir Ciel, what does this little one eat?"
"Since it's a monster, if it eats anything, it would probably be magic energy, but for now, it just sleeps without eating."
"Is, is that okay?"
"I've never raised a monster, so I'm not really sure. But if it's like Gem's People, it might not need to eat anything."
"I see... I'm a bit worried."
The tables and chairs that were gathered in the center of the shop floated gently back to their original places.
That's Sir Ciel's magic.
He was making sure Mr. Lucian was safe by holding him and Eir-Eir to move them away.
Sir Rail lifted Nel-Nel, saying, "You're so big and cute!" and stretched her out.
Sir Stefan was worried that Sir Roxas might bump his head on the chair legs, and Sir Roxas was not having it.
"Ms. Lydia, can I lean on you?"
"Uh, oh, yes! Of course! Is something wrong? What do you want to do? Do you want a hug?"
Since Sir Ciel shyly asked to lean on me, I panicked a bit.
He always said it was wrong to rely on me, saying he might "end up leaning on me," so it made me kind of happy.
I wonder if something unpleasant or sad happened.
I don't know, but there are times when you just want to be pampered, right?
I spread my arms wide. I thought that wanting to be pampered meant wanting a hug.
"No... of course, that's appealing, but... could you take care of the Fairy dragon for a while?"
"Eh? Ah, sure! But, since you two are finally together, won't you feel lonely, Sir Ciel?"
"Ms. Eiris will eat your cooking, but this little one won't eat anything. I don't have any experience raising animals, so I'm not sure if this is okay. Plus, when work at Saintwise gets busy, I can't pay much attention. But I don't want to be a burden to you..."
"There's no burden at all! They're all really good kids, and I enjoy sleeping and taking baths with them. Oh, but my dad doesn't join for baths. He's my dad, after all."
"Dads are men, right? I'm not sure if the Fairy dragon has a gender."
"Well, it's a dragon. So, it's fine if the Fairy dragon has babies. I'll try making different foods to see what it likes!"
"...Thank you."
Sir Ciel said with a sigh of relief and smiled.
It didn't seem bad for the Fairy dragon to be near Sir Ciel, but I realized that Sir Ciel is busy with work and often goes far away, so taking care of an animal might be tough.
"If it was with Ms. Lydia, it'll be easier to talk when Lucian can hear the monster's voice... I'll make sure the ingredients are delivered so it won't be a burden to you."
"You don't have to worry so much. But thank you, Sir Ciel. Having plenty of ingredients is never a problem."
"That's good to hear."
"...I don't think I'll ever be able to hear the monster's voice, though."
Mr. Lucian said quietly, looking troubled.
Since he found out he was related to Sylphina and that he has the power to hear monsters' voices, Mr. Lucian seemed confused.
"Mr. Lucian... that's how I felt when I was told that my cooking has a mysterious power..."
"Ah, I see. That's true. I've really troubled Lydia a lot. I'm sorry."
"Mr. Lucian, do your best. If you can understand what Eir-Eir and the fairy dragon from the red moon are saying, we might find a way to go to the red moon."
"Well, that might be the case, but... I really don't know what to do. Even if they say I'm not trying to hear the monsters' voices, all I hear is pumpkin pudding, just pumpkin pudding."
"Princess, it's unfair that you only hug Ciel!"
"I'm not... ah, w-wait..."
Sir Rail hugged me while pushing Nel-Nel onto Sir Roxas.
It was a bit painful being squeezed. On top of that, my hair was being patted, and I felt like a little animal.
"Brother..."
"Rail, I know Lydia is cute enough that I want to keep her in my arms, but you shouldn't hug a woman without permission."
"Roxas and Stefan, you two are so stubborn. This is just like a greeting. More importantly, since the princess's cooking has mysterious powers, it might be able to awaken Lucian's hidden abilities."
"Mr. Lucian has eaten my food many times."
"Right. That's true. Well, there's no point in thinking too much about it. I learned a lot today, so that's good."
Everyone nodded at Sir Rail's cheerful voice.
"Princess, you're coming to Stefan's coronation, right? I wonder if I can dance with the princess all dressed up cutely. It'll definitely be fun."
"Sir Rail, I've never danced before..."
"Just leave everything to me, and you'll be fine. I'm really looking forward to it!"
Then the talk turned to Sir Stefan's coronation.
I was supposed to wear a dress and attend as a Saint.
I thought I'd have to make one since I didn't have a dress, while I watched everyone leave after the discussion.
Our new family member, the Fairy dragon, opened its eyes once when Sir Ciel was leaving, but it didn't seem particularly lonely and was peacefully sleeping in my arms.
