Volume 11 Chapter 1 Sylsyl And The Festival Of The Dead

Volume 11 Chapter 1 Sylsyl And The Festival Of The Dead

With Mr. Leavis leading the way, everyone from the palace craft club put their heart and soul into making a cute outfit, and I was diligently dressing little SylSyl in it.

"I'd estimate her age to be about one year. Considering she's a monster's child, it feels pointless to think about age."

As I watched this scene unfold, Sir Ciel said.

Today, Sir Ciel had silver wolf ears on his head.

These were also made with great effort by the palace craft club, and even though they were fake, they looked like they were genuinely sprouting from his head.

At the end of autumn, just before winter.

In the Kingdom, the Festival of the Dead is held.

During the Festival of the Dead, everyone dresses up in costumes so that they won't notice if the dead have mingled among them.

The idea of the dead mingling isn't scary; it's more like welcoming our ancestors who passed away long ago, saying "Welcome," making it a festival with a scary name but a very gentle spirit.

At Lobelia, which was renovated from Sir Ciel's home in the back alleys of Arsubania, a special event for the Festival of the Dead was planned.

Since it's a wonderful festival, and Lobelia is now spacious, beautiful, and newly opened, I definitely wanted to participate in such an event.

When I discussed this with Sir Ciel, it got back to Mr. Leavis, and the palace craft club made costumes for us.

They said it would be better to dress up to enhance the atmosphere.

"SylSyl is one year old. The new Lobelia is also one year old."

 I smiled.

Both Lobelia and SylSyl are one year old.

 It's so easy to remember.

"Age doesn't really matter, does it? Tomorrow, she might suddenly grow up and surpass Lydia in height, turning into a beauty."

Mr. Lucian, who was busy dressing Eir-Eir in costumes, shrugged his shoulders as he said this.

Mr. Lucian was also in costume, hiding one eye with an eye patch and wearing a traditional outfit from the Land of the Rising Sun with a deep neckline.

It seemed he borrowed it from Mr. Tsukuyomi.

The costume concept was 'pirate of the ghost ship'.

Mr. Lucian has a good build, so the exotic kimono with a large open chest suits him well.

"What should we do? If she becomes a beauty, we have to send her off as a bride..."

"Who exactly do you plan to marry her off to, the former Witch?"

"In this case, what will happen? I don't think Sylphina remembers anything from her Witch days, but is it okay for her to pair up with someone...?"

Mr. Lucian said this with a troubled expression, and Sir Ciel began to think seriously.

We're in the Lobelia Room on the second floor of Lobelia, where everyone can hang out together.

Sir Ciel, Mr. Lucian, and I each have our own rooms (there's also Sir Rail's room, but he rarely stays there because Sir Roxas gets lonely), but most of the time, we all gather in the Lobelia Room.

Maybe it's just because I'm often in the Lobelia Room, but it feels that way.

 It's really cozy.

There are large sofas that are like beds, and fluffy cushions too.

There are tall potted plants, a fireplace, and cute lamps.

There's also a low, large table.

The rug is so soft that you just want to lie down on it.

There's a space where Eir-Eir and the others can relax, surrounded by fluffy rugs and cylindrical cushions.

 It's apparently to prevent injuries.

In that space, there are also memory foam cushions and squishy pancake cushions, among various other cushions, and recently, everyone tends to curl up and play around there.

 Ms. Famine doesn't play around.

 She's noble, after all.

My dad doesn't play around either.

He's a cute puppy, not a grandpa──but the cute mascot said that cute things don't get too excited.

Mr. Lucian calls that area the 'Kids' Space'.

I thought it was really nice, so I had them create a Kids' Space in the Lobelia store too.

With Sir Roxas's wealth, all kinds of children's toys were gathered in the Kids' Space, allowing mothers to enjoy their meals slowly while the kids play, which has made everyone very happy.

Also, sometimes Fox Mask playing with them is super popular, and being able to stretch Eir-Eir and the others is also a big hit.

"I have to attend SylSyl's wedding as her mother, right? I want to make a wedding cake for her. A 6-tiered one!"

 "That's huge."

"For a 6-tiered cake... we need to calculate the diameter from the bottom tier to the top tier so it doesn't collapse."

"Lydia. Shouldn't you be the one getting married first...? Ouch. Why does everyone get aggressive with me when this topic comes up?"

Mr. Lucian is diligently dressing the Eir-Eir and the others, and Eir-Eir and Med are gnawing at his hands.

Since both of them have no teeth, it doesn't seem too painful, but Mr. Lucian furrows his brow and waves his hands around.

Eir-Eir and Med, wearing orange shawls and pumpkin hats, are shaking back and forth.

 "Pudding."

 "Anmitsu."

As they get bounced into the kids' space, Eir-Eir and Med complain.

'After all, it's because I sense ulterior motives.'

Dad, wearing a bat ribbon on his head, says.

He's a male and a fully grown adult man, but he seems to have no resistance to wearing a ribbon.

Rather, he seems happy, thinking, 'The cute me has become even cuter'.

"Of course, there are ulterior motives. I like Lydia."

 "Oops."

"Ms. Lydia, did you hear something?"

"What's up, Sir Ciel? Hehe, that tickles."

Suddenly, my ears were covered from behind, so I tilted my head.

Sir Ciel let go of my hands and smiled gently.

"Mr. Lucian, did you say ulterior motives?"

"No, it's fine, Lydia. Never mind that. More importantly, is Sylphina's change of clothes done?"

"Yes! Look! She's the pumpkin princess from the fairy tale! So cute, the dress suits her, SylSyl is adorable, a genius, so cute!"

With her golden, curly hair adorned with a headdress, a fluffy lace cute dress, and big pumpkin pants, I picked up the endlessly cute SylSyl and felt all mushy inside.

When I rub my cheek against their face, she makes a cute sound like "ah-oo".

 Soft, squishy, adorable.

I──Lydia Rest──am currently in the thick of raising kids.

'Even though I'm single, my maternal instincts are growing, and as a dad, I can't help but feel a bit worried...'

 I can hear Dad's voice.

 I pretended not to hear.
