Volume 6 Chapter 31 A Journey In The Sky By Airship
The Girard family mansion is huge, like a castle.
In the big, fancy building that connects to the courtyard of this castle-like mansion, there's a large airship, which is a kind of flying machine.
The power part, which has a Wind Magic Stone, is at the top, and it supports the body of the ship with a big, balloon-like shape, so it's called an airship.
It's too expensive for personal ownership, and it takes a lot of magic power to maintain the Wind Magic Stone, so it's not a common vehicle.
Only the Bernard royal family, some serious enthusiasts, and rich people use it.
"Wow, that's amazing. It's bigger than my Peach Bun, I think."
Elder Brother Chrisrain looked up at the airship and said it with admiration.
Peach Bun came over to Elder Brother in the courtyard and stood quietly next to him.
"I don't mind the maintenance costs, but it's hard to find a place to store it. We don't use it much."
"Is Sir Roxas going to pilot it?"
"Are you unhappy about that, Lucian?"
"Well, you know. Breaking a teacup and messing up the airship's controls are 2 different kinds of damage..."
"You make it sound like I mess up the airship controls every time I fly it."
"It's like mixing up the gas and brakes. Yeah, that happened. Remember when we were playing with the airship, and Roxas accidentally sped up instead of slowing down? I thought we were going to die!"
Sir Rail said this with a smile, even though it was scary.
I didn't feel scared when I rode Mr. Lucian's Fafnir or Elder Brother Chrisrain's Peach Bun, but Sir Roxas's airship is a different story...
"Roxas, should I pilot it? If you really want to pilot, we can share the controls. Don't worry, I'll be there with you."
"Your Highness, I'm not a child."
"...Oh, right. I trust you, Roxas."
"Stop looking at me with that sparkly, worried look."
"Aren't you going to pilot, Rail?"
"Me? A hero doesn't pilot. A hero's job is to fight when monsters attack in the sky."
"But I can't let your brother hold the controls. He talks about my flying, but he's way more... how should I say it? A speed freak."
"Anyway, Lucian your Fafnir is nice. I want one too."
"People who want speed and thrills shouldn't ride it. They'll die."
Sir Rail looked up at Mr. Lucian with envy, and Mr. Lucian shook his head.
Looking disappointed, Sir Rail quickly climbed onto the airship. There's a rope ladder coming down from the ship's body, and you climb up it.
"Sir Roxas, you can pilot the airship, right?"
"Yeah."
Since the airship belongs to the Girard family, it makes sense for Sir Roxas to pilot it. If we can't trust Sir Rail, we have to ask Sir Roxas.
I'm scared, but it would be rude to doubt him before we even get on.
I felt bad for being scared. I looked at Sir Roxas with a smile and said, "That's amazing," but he quickly looked away from me.
"Lydia, you should stop talking to Sir Roxas. It might make him nervous and excited, and he could mess up the controls."
Mr. Lucian came over to me and lightly placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Nervous and excited...?"
"Yeah. There are 2 types of guys. Like me, who can do better when someone talks to them, and those who lose their cool and mess up even simple things. Sir Roxas is the second type."
"So, I shouldn't compliment or cheer for Sir Roxas. I'll just stay quiet."
"You can compliment or cheer for me, Lydia. Just give me the praise meant for Sir Roxas too."
"Um... Thanks for scouting Edelstein. I appreciate you running away without fighting Sir Ciel... and trusting Sir Ciel, Mr. Lucian."
"Thanks, Lydia. You can pat my head if you want."
"Okay, sure."
"Lucian. Stop being so clingy with Lydia. Get on already. We're leaving. Or are you and Lord Chrisrain not coming?"
Mr. Lucian bent down, so I patted his golden hair gently.
Sir Roxas crossed his arms and glared at Mr. Lucian, looking annoyed.
"I'll ride on the airship, Sir Roxas. I want to be able to help right away if something happens."
"Wait Lydia. But I plan to go with Lord Chrisrain and Sir Marx to see Lord Galeon. He might listen to me. Even if he doesn't, it should buy us some time. It will delay the army from reaching Edelstein."
"Sir Stefan... but isn't that dangerous?"
"You don't want to start a rebellion, right? So they shouldn't attack me, Sir Marx, or Lord Chrisrain, the Crown Prince of the neighboring country. Plus, I'm the master of the holy sword, so I'll be fine if anything happens."
"Ms. Lydia, I will definitely protect you. You trust Ciel, right? Your words might reach Ciel. Just like you gave us a chance to make up for what we did to the children."
Sir Marx, who had been quietly watching us, said this.
Sir Stefan nodded strongly, and Elder Brother Chrisrain placed a hand on Peach Bun's body.
"Lydia, go ahead. If we can avoid fighting, that's the best. I was worried you might get into something dangerous, but... my sister is a kind person. You can't just stay quiet in a situation like this."
"...Thank you for worrying about me. I... I'm happy when everyone is around. I want every day to be like usual. So... I'm going to see Sir Ciel."
"Ah. Lydia. I'm counting on you with Ciel and Gem's People."
"Yes!"
After Sir Stefan said that, I nodded big.
I was happy that they trusted me.
"Lucian. I'm counting on you to take care of Lydia, Roxas, and Rail."
"Understood. I will protect them for sure."
Mr. Lucian said, "Since Lydia is in a dress, she probably can't climb the rope ladder," and picked me up.
With one hand holding me, Mr. Lucian easily climbed onto the airship, and Sir Roxas followed after us.
So we said goodbye to Sir Stefan and took off into the sky.
