Volume 6 Chapter 35 In The Center Of The Airship, I Shout My Love

The Holy Capital and big towns are protected by magic barriers set up by the mages of Saintwise, so as long as people live in the town, they won't have to worry about monster attacks.

In busy streets and places where people come and go, the knights of Leonsroar are out there fighting monsters, keeping everyone safe, including travelers and merchants.

I'm from the south district of Arsubania in the Holy Capital, and I hardly ever go outside, so it's my first time seeing so many monsters.

There are way more winged monsters surrounding the airship than the corrupted ones I saw earlier.

Some of them look like giant birds with sharp beaks and claws, and there are also flying lizard-like creatures.

From the dark, creepy swarm filling the sky, Mr. Lucian, riding Fafnir, flies right in front of me.

Even though he's a bit far from the deck, I can see he's looking at me seriously.

 "Lydia, listen!"

 "Y-yes..."

Mr. Lucian called my name with a strong voice.

"The witch's daughter, Eirnelys, said that Ciel loves you."

"Uh, I-I heard that...! And, um, she said it's like I don't like Sir Ciel! But I do like Sir Ciel...!"

Sir Ciel loves me, but I don't know if I love him back.

I think I do like him. I'm not sure what kind of "like" it is yet, but I want to help him.

I want to support him. I want him to rely on me.

Sir Ciel's voice makes me feel safe. I want to touch his hand. I want to hug him and tell him it's okay, that he's not alone.

Just like someone did for me once.

"Ciel loves you as a friend! Just like we do, Lydia!"

 "Ah, um, thank you...!"

Mr. Lucian raises his voice, talking about something more important than the monsters in front of us.

 I hurriedly thanked him.

 Yeah, that's right. We're friends.

I was confused for a moment because I've been thinking about love and feelings lately, but we're friends.

I'm not the only one who wants to help Sir Ciel.

Mr. Lucian, Sir Rail, and Sir Roxas all came to help because they want to.

So, everyone loves Sir Ciel as a friend.

"I love Lydia. Just like Ciel. As a friend...!"

"Y-yes! I also like you as a friend, Mr. Lucian...!"

"Thank you, Lydia. I feel motivated."

As he said this, Mr. Lucian raised his sword high into the sky.

"Great wind, fierce storm that wipes everything away, take form in my sword!"

As he chanted, a blade of wind wrapped around Mr. Lucian's sword.

He charged through the sky on Fafnir, unleashing a powerful strike that created shockwaves, cutting down the many monsters attacking us.

The defeated monsters turned into beautiful particles and disappeared into the sky.

After watching Mr. Lucian skillfully wield his magic sword and take down the monsters, Sir Rail smiled happily at me.

He was holding me with one arm to keep me from falling off the airship, but he was also hugging me from behind.

"That's right, princess. I love you too, you know?"

 "Uh, um..."

 "As a friend. Right, Roxas?"

"Oh, oh! Right, right...! As friends, of course! Seriously, that witch's daughter sure knows how to confuse people. I guess since she's a monster, she doesn't really get what friendship love is."

Sir Roxas said this with a bit of a shaky voice when Sir Rail asked for his agreement.

He was spinning the controls around, making the airship wobble.

 "Pumpkin pudding..."

 "Tarte Tatin..."

Eir-Eir and Ms. Famine made sour faces, probably because of what Sir Roxas said.

"Don't be so mad, kids. I love Lydia and the kids too. My love is shared equally among them."

Dad, who had been quiet until now, said this seriously. I remembered that I had been hugging Dad, Ms. Famine, and Eir-Eir tightly because I was so desperate. I loosened my grip a bit.

"Princess, go to Roxas. Ciel will be fine, because your voice definitely reached Ciel."

 "Sir Rail... Yes! Thank you!"

"Yeah. Sir Ciel is such a fool! But it's nice, right? I also want to be insulted by the princess sometimes. I'm a perfect hero, so I don't get insulted much. Ciel is so lucky."

Sir Rail said this with a bit of dissatisfaction, then kicked off the deck and floated into the sky.

He jumped off a monster and swung his 2 swords, taking out monsters one after another.

 "Lydia, come to me! Hurry!"

But there were still a lot of monsters.

The ones that got away from Sir Rail and Mr. Lucian were trying to attack me.

I hugged Ms. Famine and Eir-Eir as they tried to jump out of my arms to face the monsters, and I ran towards Sir Roxas.

"Lydia, switch! Just hold the controls, that's all you need to do!"

"I-I can't, Sir Roxas! I've never held them before..."

 "I'll be right back!"

I pleaded with teary eyes as Sir Roxas ran past me, letting go of the controls.

He fell down right next to me but got up like nothing happened and raised one hand towards the incoming monsters.

 "──Soul Stealing (Dakkon)!"

The monsters flying towards us crumbled and disappeared in an instant because of Sir Roxas's magic.

Eir-Eir jumped out of my arms and landed on the controls.

Dad and Ms. Famine also slipped out of my grip and jumped onto the controls, clinging on.

The round control with the weight of the animals on it started to spin. The airship tilted.

"Y-You all wanted to control it, huh...!"

I took over the controls instead of Sir Roxas, who was protecting the airship from the monsters.

If I left it to Eir-Eir and the others, we would crash.

I couldn't just cry about not being able to do it.

I gripped the round control with the Magic Stone in the center.

Eir-Eir was on top of my head, and Ms.

Famine and Dad were on my shoulders.

 "Lydia's ship, take off!"

 "Dad, we're already taking off...!"

"I just wanted to say it."

"W-What do I do now? Oh, no...!"

Even though I was just holding the controls tightly, it felt like the airship was tilting and falling towards the ground.

"Sir Roxas, help... we're going to fall, this is bad...!"

"Wait a second, and be quiet! I can't concentrate!"

Sir Roxas spread his arms wide.

The Soul Stealing magic spread through the air, and a huge number of monsters surrounding the airship disappeared.

The battle was over in no time.

Mr. Lucian was coming back from the sky with Sir Rail.

Sir Roxas was running towards me to take over the controls. At that moment.

I asked Sir Roxas to take over the controls, but the airship suddenly tilted as if it was being pulled down with a strong force.

From the town of Edelstein, which was nestled among the mountains below, several white hands reached out toward the airship, wrapping around it.

Those hands were pulling us down, and the airship was getting closer and closer to the ground.

Mr. Lucian was trying to help us by chasing the airship with Fafnir.

But Many of those white hands grabbed onto Fafnir.

In the end, the airship we were on was dragged down and crashed right in front of the Wisteria army at the entrance of Edelstein.
