Volume 6 Chapter 36 Galleon Wisteria
At the entrance of Edelstein, in front of the mountains where the town is built, an airship crashed and sank into the ground. Just before it fell, Mr. Lucian flew in on Fafnir and picked me up to save me.
Sir Rail also landed easily with Sir Roxas in his arms and set him down on the ground.
"Lydia, are you hurt?"
"I'm fine, thank you. Oh, um, I'm okay, so please put me down."
"Just a little longer..."
"Mr. Lucian."
Mr. Lucian reluctantly let me down.
In my hands, Eir-Eir, Ms. Famine, and my dad were all huddled together tightly.
I was glad everyone was safe.
The white hand that pulled down the airship was gone now, and the sturdy airship was sticking out of the ground, pointing up into the sky.
"Princess, are you okay? Roxas is safe too. This airship might not be able to fly anymore."
"Everything that exists will break someday. If it breaks, we just need to fix it."
"Roxas breaks things a lot, you know."
"Yeah."
"I could fix it with my magic, but it wouldn't help to fix the airship right now. More importantly──."
Sir Rail looked at the army lined up in the flat grassland in front of the mountains.
In front of the neatly arranged cavalry, there were Sir Stefan, Sir Marx, Elder Brother Chrisrain, and Peach Bun.
We ran over to them, surprised to see the fallen airship and us.
In front of Sir Stefan and the others, there were 2 magnificent horses.
On one horse was a man who looked a bit like Mr. Wilshark, and next to him was an older man with a very scary face
Both were dressed in impressive military uniforms and were glaring down at Sir Stefan from their horses.
"Lydia! Everyone! Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine... Sir Stefan, are you safe too?"
"I'm so happy you're worried about me instead of crying."
"I'm glad you're safe."
I smiled at Sir Stefan, who looked really touched.
The cavalry lined up in front of us were probably from Wisteria.
Facing Sir Stefan were Lord WisteriaClifford and Sir Galeon, who is Sir Ciel's grandfather.
They hadn't stepped into Edelstein yet, but it looked like their conversation wasn't going well.
"Lord Galeon! You saw it too, right? The swarm of monsters filling the sky! Something strange is happening in Edelstein. This is not the time to start a war and fight among the Kingdom's people!"
Sir Stefan's face relaxed for a moment, but then he became serious again.
He raised his voice towards the silent Sir Galeon.
Mr. Lucian stepped forward to protect Sir Stefan, while Sir Roxas and Sir Rail stood next to Sir Marx.
I looked up at Sir Galeon from beside Sir Stefan.
This is Lord Galeon Wisteria.
He is Sir Ciel's father and the man who crushed Mr. Safiro from Gem's People.
He did terrible things to Sir Ciel too, a cruel person.
He looked old, but he stood tall and had a strong build.
Just being there gave off an overwhelming presence.
He didn't look like Sir Ciel at all.
"What nonsense are you talking about, Your Highness? It seems you've been confused by monsters and women, and can't think straight. The one controlling the swarm of monsters is Ciel from Gem's People. Gem's People are indeed monsters. They manipulate monsters at will and are trying to destroy this country."
Sir Galeon spat out, then sounded genuinely annoyed.
I don't think it's right to talk to Sir Stefan without getting off his horse.
Besides, Sir Ciel is his grandson, but he treat him like a stranger - he called him 'Gem's People' with obvious disgust.
"Galeon. I inherited the throne of the Holy King from my father Zeere. Please take my words as Zeer's. Monsters manipulate people's minds. I have been in their hands for a long time, so I know that well. I certainly saw Ciel among the swarm of monsters. But that's because he was being controlled by a monster."
"That's right...! Sir Ciel was safe. Sir Stefan, Sir Ciel was being controlled by Eirnelys, the witch's daughter... and Eirnelys spread the White Moon disease... Sir Ciel disappeared along with Eirnelys, and I have to go and help him...!"
"I see! That's a good thing to know, Saint. Thank you. As I thought, the Gem's People kept monsters. And the Witch's daughter. It's the same one that appeared in Deusvia and the Great Temple of the Holy Capital recently!"
When I explained to Sir Stefan, Sir Galeon said it with a happy voice so that everyone could hear.
"It's just as I thought. The Gem's People got the Witch's daughter. They're trying to spread the White Moon disease to this country and reduce the population of the Kingdom. They're going to invade when we're weak and take over this country. As I thought, they're monsters. The fact that they have some intelligence makes them even more evil. Ciel is on the side of the Gem's People. How much more will he tarnishes the name of Wisteria before he's satisfied!"
"No, that's not true...! Sir Ciel is just being controlled by the Witch's daughter..."
"I don't know. Those are the Gem's People. He turned his fangs on us of his own volition. Saint, it's good that you're kind, but there's no need to side with a monster like that."
"Sir Ciel is no monster...!"
"Just like Saint. You're kind to both the Kirschteins and the Gem's People. You're a philanthropist. But you can't live on pretty words alone. We'll eradicate the Gem's People. They're like pests that build nests in this country. If we don't get rid of them, their numbers will increase and they'll turn on the people of the Kingdom like this time."
"Galeon. King Zeere made a law that says we shouldn't harm the Gem's People. They're people of the Kingdom, just like us."
"Have you grown old and faint-hearted, Marx? You used to be like me. You said the Kirschteins and the Gem's People should be driven out of this country."
"I've changed my mind. I am a loyal servant of Zeere and Sir Stefan. It is the right thing for a servant to do to obey his orders."
Sir Galeon looked at Sir Marx with pity.
"Don't worry about your successor being a failure, Marx. Your sons are puppets who have no will to fight for their country. What do you think, Clifford?"
"I'm sure that when it's all over, everyone will realize that Sir Galeon was right. Saint, Ciel is a monster. It is a dubious thing that he is being manipulated by the daughter of the Witch. He is trying to avenge this country with Gem's People by his own will."
"“"No, sir! You don't know anything about Sir Ciel!"
Sir Galeon's words and Sir Clifford's words do not show any kindness to Sir Ciel.
They're his family, and yet...
It makes me very, very angry. It makes me angry, as if I'm being mocked.
"Then what do you know about it, Saint? The monster."
Sir Galeon said with a laugh.
I know Sir Ciel way better than those 2 who are his family.
Even though we've only known each other for less than a year.
What matters isn't just how long you spend together.
"I know. Sir Ciel is kind. He works for the country. He puts himself last. He even puts others before himself...! I'm Sir Ciel's friend!"
"So, Ciel has managed to get close to you, Saint. If he earns the trust of the king and you, things will go smoothly. Honestly, it's ridiculous that you all are being fooled by Gem's People. You must be under the control of that witch's daughter too."
I heard Sir Roxas click his tongue in annoyance next to me.
Sir Rail was shaking his head while holding his forehead.
Mr. Lucian quietly watched the situation, and Sir Marx looked troubled.
Sir Stefan was staring straight at Sir Galeon, challenging him.
"I can't allow a war to start. Galeon, take your army back to Wisteria."
"I can't do that. I have a duty to protect the country instead of being misled like you all. That's the Margrave's responsibility."
"...Stefan, that's not going to work. He's not listening."
Elder Brother Chrisrain said with a sigh and patted the Peach Bun, saying, "Ah, this is comforting, Peach Bun."
