Chapter 257 Resuming Combat Part 2️⃣

Chapter 257 Resuming Combat Part 2️⃣

Centrena probably has resentment towards them, so it's no surprise she's under stress.

She's a kind girl, after all... even if she's likely older than me.

If that's the case, she must think of herself like an older sister.

"It's fine. Do as you please."

 'Kuu!'

"Yeah, yeah, have a good one──whoa, that's a body slam. And in mid-air, too. There's nowhere to escape now!"

Centrena is plowing through the Celestial Race at quite a speed.

The fallen Celestial Race are being trampled by other red-running dragons to finish them off.

 What remarkable teamwork.

Jillietta-san and Failroud-san both seem to be having a great time.

They're not holding back and are flying with their wings on their backs.

The Celestial Race is being chased around by spears and swords, running for their lives.

There's no need to hide anymore.

If anyone gets hurt, Jag-san is ready in the back.

And if they die, I'll be here.

I've given them permission to push themselves as much as they want.

This is a classic example of what happens when you anger a usually docile species.

Even the Dragonkin, who mostly focus on farming, can be scary when they're angry.

Up until now, they had been holding back because they were taking hostages, but now there's no need for that restraint.

And look, the Celestial Race stepped on the tiger's tail.

 I mean a real one.

"Ahahaha. Is this all you've got? I need you to take responsibility for abducting my cute son. So come on, bring it on."

My mother seems to have turned into a bit of a demon lord....

The Celestial Race is shooting and throwing arrows and spears at us, but it doesn't feel like they can hit our running dragons at all.

This is probably the first time the Celestial Race has witnessed the terror of the running dragons up close.

Even Centrena and Alesion, not to mention Wilshion and Mr. Danjeon.

If they came at me seriously, I definitely wouldn't win.

Mother moves as if she's returned to her prime.

She hasn't been splattered with the blood of the Celestial Race at all.

That's why she's not wearing that white dress.

Maybe it means they're not worth that kind of fuss?

 She must be really angry....

But it could also be that she just didn't feel like putting it on because it's chilly.

Since everyone is doing whatever they want, there's no chance for me to step in.

So I just keep poking at the corpses with my toes and storing them away.

Taking them out, packing them, and storing them again.

 It's just a repeated cycle.

Well, there were quite a few barrels, so it's fine.

There are almost a thousand of them, you know.

Having overlapping items in my inventory is nice.

It means I don't have to worry about taking up space.

Even a simple task tires me out, you know?

But I'm okay because I sometimes hit 'Recover.'

With one burst of energy, I won't feel tired.

It's convenient, isn't it? The healing attribute magic is.

And it feels like the Celestial Race, which swarmed out like a disturbed beehive, is gradually losing their momentum.

In fact, those that flew out are becoming easy targets for the Centrena, who are slamming into them and knocking them down.

They're slow at flying, after all.

Then, they'll get completely taken out by Maya-chan and my Mother.

Some of them don't even have their original shape left, as if they forgot to hold back.

Well, whether they mix or not, once they're stored away, they become separate, thanks to the inventory system.

 It's really convenient.

The ground battle is just a ground battle plus an air battle, but the way the Celestial Race is being overwhelmed is exactly like the situation with the Beastmen that Wareels messed up.

There is a difference in the numbers being several times, no, tens of times greater, but that makes our fighting power even more formidable than back then.

Back when it was Wareels, it was almost just Maya-chan and Mother.

Ah, they must have been really stressed out.

Our cat person, Berberiguru-san, and Dorchuneta-san are also cutting through them fiercely.

 There's no need to hide; it's a search-and-destroy situation.

With 4 attackers plus Centrena and Alesion, no matter how many Celestial Race show up, they just can't hold a candle to us.

It doesn't matter how many Celestial Race swarm out; they're no match for us.

* * *

 The sun has fully risen.

I went around and collected a bunch.

The minced-up Celestial Race guys, you know.

When I looked at the number in my inventory, it was way more than a hundred.

There's probably enough to make counting a hassle.

Maybe it's over 2 hundred, right?

What are we supposed to do about this?

Ah, but I can't see any Celestial Race flying around at all.

Well, in the first place, it was a mistake to think they could fight back with spears and bows without knowing the endurance of the running dragon.

On top of that, with Maya-chan totally furious and Mother acting like a demon lord, even I don't want to deal with them, yet they still came at us.

 I won't say I'm impressed, but I was surprised.

 Not knowing is really scary.

It looks like we've advanced quite a bit into the area beyond the outer walls.

Mother is glaring at what seems to be a castle-like building in the center, arms crossed.

"Without a doubt, there are still quite a number of them 'inside' there. The smell says so."

Since Mother is a Tigerman (Kojinzoku), her sense of smell is probably the best among those here.

Mother's glare is a stern one, saying 'I haven't forgiven them yet.'

The information we have says that there are about 2 thousand people from the 'kidnaper Bergalide.'

However, according to what Berberi-san and the others investigated, it's highly likely that there aren't that many.

 So then, right?

If we assume it's half of that, then there should be about a thousand.

I've read in some book that if an army loses about 30 percent of its personnel, it's considered a complete defeat.

 What does that mean?

Anyway, it seems like Maya-chan has stuffed in quite a bit too, but when combined with the barrels in my inventory, I feel like we've easily exceeded that.

Now, what would I do if I were the commander?

Even if I called it a complete defeat, I'd probably just retreat temporarily and keep casting 'Resurrect' non-stop.

Because an opponent who doesn't know the fear of a zombie attack wouldn't understand what's happening.

Even if we're outnumbered, they would surely mistake us for a significant force.

 ...No, wait, yeah.

Either way, I would probably regroup and keep at it until we win, right?

Maya-chan and Mother would do the same, after all.

 They wouldn't even consider losing.

They're definitely not that kind of women.
