Volume 1 Chapter 41 Mean Villainess, Quietly Furious
"Elena, it's already your third year, huh? You're going to be busy from here on out."
My mother said at the breakfast table.
That's right, I'm entering my third year as a student starting today.
And it's probably true that things are going to get busy; looking at the schedule for the year, it's packed with all sorts of events.
Apparently, during the first 2 years, we learn the basics of magic, so there aren't many events until we hammer that into our heads. But once we finish learning the basics in the third year, it seems that various events start to increase.
"There will be events where parents can attend, so I'm looking forward to it, Mother."
Well, of course, it must be exciting to infiltrate a school where characters from a game you love are gathered.
If I had been born into the world of my favorite game, I would have wanted to see the characters at least once, even if just for a moment.
Maybe.
The reason I can't say that for sure is that I've played games with ghosts, zombies, and being chased by murderers, so in that game world, "seeing the characters = death."
As I was thinking about such things, my mother started to unfold a newspaper.
'But there's still no heroine, huh?'
That's true.
'The heroine will transfer in when the classmates are in their fifth year, so it's still a ways off...'
I still have a long way to go.
This school basically requires 6 years to graduate, so if you transfer in the fifth year, you will graduate in one year.
The heroine's school life is short.
Well, in the dating games that game enthusiasts used to play, you had to get a girl in a year, so maybe this is common in this kind of game.
It would be a hassle if it took 2 or 3 years to get it down.
I don't know.
I've never done it before.
'The heroine is suddenly adopted by the Baron family and begins attending school. Through unexpected events, the heroine meets many handsome men and slowly falls in love with them...'
What kind of heroine is this?
Please tell me more about that part.
The heroine.
"Lady, it's almost time"
"Oh, yes"
Brought back to reality by Rolus's words, I hurriedly prepared and climbed into the carriage.
The first person I encountered about the academy was Mr. Paul, the knight assigned to the prince.
"Good morning, Mr. Paul."
"Good morning, Ellie."
Ever since he helped me out when there was a dispute between me, Rolus, and his brother, I had started talking to him like this from time to time.
Apparently, the prince mentioned that it might be less conspicuous with Mr. Paul acting as an intermediary than if he came to my place directly.
What remarkable growth.
So whenever the prince lends me a book, it's Mr. Paul who brings it, and he also takes it back when it's time to return it.
Upon further inquiry, I found out that Mr. Paul is the 4th son of the Marquis family, and after digging a little deeper, I discovered that this Marquis family is a distinguished lineage known for having risen to the rank of Marquis due to martial achievements long ago. I felt a bit guilty using someone like that as a lackey, but he said that it was definitely better to be treated as a lackey than to have troublesome rumors spread about the prince.
He must have had his struggles, Mr. Paul.
"I'm sorry, thank you as always."
As I returned the borrowed book and expressed my gratitude while borrowing a new one, Mr. Paul let out a slight wry smile.
"This is a piece of cake for me. I was thinking I should make amends someday."
"Make amends?"
"About the day you and the prince first met."
"The first... ah, the melon bread incident. Well, looking back, it's more of a funny story now, so please don't worry about it too much."
That day, I was certainly angry from the bottom of my heart, but because of that incident I was able to tell Rolus not to harm him, so it's not something I should hold a grudge against.
"I'm glad Ellie is a kind girl"
"No, I'm not that nice, so I was angry."
"Oh, yes, sorry"
I ended up hitting him with even more force.

When I entered the classroom, everyone was looking down.
I wondered what they were doing, and it seemed like they were all looking at their annual schedule.
"Good morning Elena. Look, we're so busy"
The one who called out like that was Leve.
"It's true, it's completely different from last year."
"It seems like we'll have less time to play games..."
"No way..."
I'm looking forward to having more classes and events where we can use magic, but it's sad that my game time with Leve is getting cut.
I know it's inevitable, though.
"By the way, Elena, are you free after school today?"
"Yeah."
"If you want, do you want to play a little before heading home?"
"But Leve, isn't today the day the tutor comes?"
"Yeah, so it'll have to be just for a little bit."
"If Leve is okay with it, then I'm okay too!"
So, after school, I decided to abduct Rolus with Leve and play for a little before going home.
Up until that point, it had been a perfectly good day as usual.
After school, while I was heading to meet Rolus with Leve...
I spotted someone who shouldn't be in the academy.
As I approached, wondering if it was a mistake, it was no mistake at all; our family maid was there.
"What are you doing in a place like this?"
When I called out to the maid, she said she came because she had business with Rolus.
I have many questions, such as why now after school, or why not after I get home, but we're heading to the same destination, so I guess we should go together.
"Is Lady going to Rolus too?"
"Yeah, that's right"
"Is the lady going? Is she not going to meet someone or wait for Rolus to pick her up?"
...Well, it's weird that I'm going to pick up the Attendant.
I know it's a little late, but.
"Yeah. My plans have changed a bit today, so I'm going to sneak up and grab him."
"Grab him..."
"Well, that's why, let's go to Rolus together."
Saying that, I stood next to the maid.
"I'll go and get him, Lady, you can wait here."
"There's a chance he'll escape, so I have to catch him with my own hands."
"Yeah..."
At this point, I had a bad feeling.
There's a maid here who shouldn't be here, and I feel like she's somehow preventing me from going to Rolus.
To avoid being persuaded by the maid and remaining here, I boldly walked toward Rolus.
Then, I began to hear voices leaking out from a room that was usually quiet.
The closer I got, the more different it felt from usual.
It wasn't just a simple conversation; it sounded somewhat like an argument.
