Volume 11 Chapter 3 Happy Halloween
Sir Rail is lifting SylSyl and spinning her around.
It's really high for a "high-high" And intense.
SylSyl is happily saying, "Kyawa!".
I guess it's true what they say about her being a former Witch.
Maybe because she spent so long on the moon, she's good with heights.
I think being trapped on the moon is probably a bad memory for SylSyl, though.
"Princess, you look so cute! What's that outfit? A town girl who got kidnapped? A town girl kidnapped by Lucian!"
"I'm Little Red Riding Hood."
"Oh, so that's why you're gonna get eaten by a wolf. Ciel, you've suddenly gotten a bit shady, huh? Mysterious Demon King is a guy too, huh?"
After Sir Rail hands SylSyl over to Sir Roxas, he goes to poke Sir Ciel.
Sir Ciel, who's being poked a bit roughly with an elbow, furrows his brow in annoyance.
"It's not like I chose this, but Ms. Lydia, you look really cute."
"Hehe... thank you. But it's kinda embarrassing. Oh, and I know Sir Ciel won't eat me, so it's all good."
"If that makes you feel safe, I might have to be a bit more forceful, you know."
"Stop right there. You were at your best when you were worrying about your own origins."
"Sir Roxas, Sir Ciel was really, really troubled, you know. If I say something mean, there's no pumpkin pie for Sir Roxas."
"Eh?"
"That was quite a voice you let out, brother."
"Roxas, it's not good to dig into someone's wounds. You should fight fair over Lydia."
Sir Rail starts laughing while holding his stomach, and Sir Stefan gives him a serious look.
"Lydia. I... I plan to attend your wedding as your father. I will definitely be there. Let's walk down the virgin road together."
"Eh, ah, yes."
Since Sir Stefan grabbed my shoulder tightly, I nodded.
His eyes are serious, Sir Stefan.
Even though he has horns growing out of his head, he doesn't feel devilish at all.
He's so pure, Sir Stefan.
"Ah! I'm sorry, Lydia! I shouldn't have mentioned the virgin road...! Just forget I said that!"
"Uh, ah, okay..."
Sir Stefan was apologizing so fervently that I got swept up in it and apologized too.
What was wrong with mentioning the virgin road? It's just the path you walk down to the altar at a wedding, right?
"Your Majesty, please calm down. The virgin road isn't particularly scandalous."
"When Lucian says it, everything sounds like dirty talk."
"When Lucian says it, everything sounds suspicious."
"What kind of image do you two have of me...?"
"When I look at you, women faint. A machine for creating lovesick maidens."
"Walking adult content."
"No, I'm basically not doing anything. I'm living seriously, you know."
Sir Rail and Sir Roxas are both blaming Mr. Lucian.
It's so lively. Everyone's getting along. I'm happy.
SylSyl is tugging on Sir Roxas's bandages.
They're all tangled up.
It's a mess, so much that it looks like they can't get untangled.
"Um, what kind of costumes are you guys wearing?"
"Hehe, I'm glad you asked! This is a fox from the Land of Wakoku country. I heard it from Tsukuyomi. In Wakoku country, foxes are apparently gods. So, I'm a god."
"I'm, as you can see, a mummy. My brother wrapped me up in bandages. I can't get them off now. I'm thinking I'll have to cut them off in the end."
So he really can't get them off, huh, Sir Roxas? Sir Roxas only has 2 options left: to cut the bandages or to live on as the bandaged man.
"I'm told this is a devil. My sisters say I lack youth and wickedness... If I keep going like this, I'll lose my individuality to the other guys, so I need horns. Sorry for being such a plain guy."
"Ah, please don't apologize, Sir Stefan."
I think Sir Stefan is plenty unique, though.
The already decorated Lobelia is totally set up for the Day of the Dead.
Inside the pumpkin carved with a ghost face, the Flame Magic Stone is lit up.
Hanging from the ceiling are bat decorations, and besides that, there are swaying star ornaments, bright red candles, and skull figurines, all creating a really festive Day of the Dead vibe.
"Thanks for coming today! Alright, let's get started on the food!"
I got to work on the menu I had been planning for this day.
SylSyl and Eir-Eir were playing with Sir Rail and Sir Roxas in the kids' area.
SylSyl seemed really interested in Sir Roxas's glasses, snatching them multiple times, using her magic to break them, then getting Sir Rail to fix them, all while squealing with delight.
Sir Stefan watched this with a look of admiration, muttering, "She really is a Witch, huh?"
"So far, things are calm, but it's safe to say that Sylphina has immense magical power hidden within her. If she gets angry or upset, there's a chance her magic could go out of control. We need to be careful."
"Yeah, I'll be careful! I gotta make sure she doesn't feel lonely or scared."
As I mashed the boiled pumpkin, I nodded at Sir Ciel's words while he brewed some apple tea.
I want her to have lots of fun experiences.
The tough times are over now.
"Yeah. I'm here with you. Don't push yourself too hard, Ms. Lydia."
"Thanks, Sir Ciel."
"I'm here too, Lydia. Always by your side."
"Thank you too, Mr. Lucian."
Maybe our voices in the kitchen reached him, because Sir Rail chimed in, "Me too!" I glanced over, and Sir Roxas and Sir Stefan waved lightly at me.
I have──so many reliable people around me.
And it's not just Sir Stefan and the others, but even more.
"Elder Sister, I came to play! It's your FraFra!"
"Lydia, oh, oh, oh, your father's just worried sick about you living with a guy, ahhh, and today Lyd-Lyd is so cute too...! My daughter, so adorable!"
"Dear, calm down. Lydia's looking pale."
"I'm sorry, I just got a bit too excited..."
"Milady, we, your maids, have come to engrave your lovely figure in our memories. This is going to be quite the event, indeed!"
With cat-eared FraFra pushing past Sir Stefan and Sir Roxas, she enters the room.
Following her is an overly excited father, who's threatening Sir Ciel and Mr. Lucian indiscriminately, only to be calmed down by mom like a dog.
Then the maids from the Rest Priest Family arrive, all sticking to the wall.
I wonder why they're sticking to the wall.
Are they being polite...?
"HeySister, we're here! Dad's with us too. I heard you married Sir Ciel, so we brought a little celebration..."
"Ms. Lydia, congratulations!"
"N-no, not yet, um, not yet..."
Olive, dressed in a fluffy Eir-Eir costume, and Doctor Michael, with realistic-looking wounds painted on his body, come in.
"Lyd-Lyd, it's my grand entrance to this festive celebration! Can I drink today? I'm gonna drink, Dad! All night long!"
"That's the spirit!"
Mx. Margaret, dressed in a black sister's outfit, comes in and lifts Dad up, saying.
When I say, "Dad can't drink because he's a puppy," he grumbles, "I may be a cute puppy, but I'm an adult man inside".
"Oh, little lady, it's lively in here, huh? I brought a little something."
Following Mx. Margaret, Mr. Tsukuyomi shows up with octopus as usual, even though it's a festival for the dead.
"Ms. Lydia, I've come to celebrate your marriage to the captain."
"What are you talking about, Noctis? The one who truly suits our fairy Ms. Lydia is Sir Ciel."
"Shall we settle this, Leavis?"
"I'll sink you in a second!"
As soon as they showed their faces, the folks from Leonsroar and Saintwise started glaring at each other.
Lobelia got lively all at once, but since it's bigger than before, there are still plenty of seats available.
I'm glad we expanded the shop.
I mean──our customers have really increased!.
"Hey everyone, it's ready! The special menu for the Festival of the Dead, featuring adorable pumpkin-themed dishes!"
We made pumpkin pie shaped like jack-o'-lanterns.
Eir-Eir's favorite pumpkin pudding is made by hollowing out a whole pumpkin.
There's pumpkin soup and octopus sausage pie.
Mr. Lucian's special big meatloaf, along with apple cinnamon tea that Sir Ciel made.
I still wanna make a bunch of other stuff, but for now, this is it.
"Welcome to Lobelia! Please eat a lot and have fun today!"
Greeting everyone with a smile is the owner's duty.
Today, the new Lobelia is filled with everyone's cheerful voices.
