Volume 4 Chapter 25 Ena Joins Us
At the entrance to the mine with the big hole.
Dwarf girl Ena has offered to come along with us.
"It's dangerous to go together. You're such a klutz, you might get hurt," Chippy warns worriedly.
"I'm, I'm fine, I promise. Ena, you're strong!"
Ena flexes her muscles.
Chippy silently pinches them.
"Stop it. It's better to wait here like adults for Mr. Zeke to return."
"But... but... Ena... I want to go look for my dad..."
Ena looks at me and whispers softly.
"Mr. Zeke, please take me with you. I'll try not to get in the way. So..."
"Ena..."
Chippy looks at me with a troubled expression.
"Big brother, what should we do?"
"Yeah... um..."
I understand how she feels.
She wants to find her father with her own eyes and feet.
"Ena, can you make a promise? You must never leave my side."
"Y-Yes...! Then..."
"Alright. I'll protect you on the way."
"Mr. Zeke...! Thank you so much!"
With a sob, Ena hugs my waist and cries.
"As expected, big brother. Protecting the weak is the duty of the strong. Very impressive."
"Is that right, Zeke?"
"Yeah. I'll protect everyone, not just Ena."
"Ugh... That's not cool to say... I understand. I'll protect you too, as much as I can. But we won't do anything dangerous, okay little one?"
And so, the 4 of us ventured into the depths of the big hole.
