Volume 1 Chapter 15-2 The Villainous Guildmaster, Secretly Aiding Other Guilds
Is this what they mean by "a bee on a crying face"?
However, as she completely gives up, the Centaurs slip past her.
"We, the Centaurs, shall assist you in accordance with our pact!"
As the leader of the Centaurs says this, they all release their arrows at once.
The magic arrows pierce through Kirin's body as if it were paper.
Kirin, in anger, summons a small dragon of thunder, but the Centaurs shoot it down with arrows.
"W-whoa...! To think they could withstand Kirin's lightning!"
While the Centaurs corner Kirin, Milia is in a state of confusion.
They say they are high-ranking monsters that live in the forest.
But they are also beings that can never coexist with humans.
There's no reason for them to help Milia.
The Kirin, pierced by arrows, collapses on the spot.
"Whoa! We got it! It's a victory for our Lady Milia!"
The Guild Members cheer.
They had survived thanks to the healing they received during the battle.
"As expected of Lady Milia! To have the Centaurs under your command! Amazing!"
They all look at Milia with respect in their eyes.
"N-no... that's not..."
"Oh come on! Don't be so modest! Didn't the Centaurs just say they would assist Lady Milia in accordance with the pact?"
They did indeed say that.
But I have no memory of forming a pact with the Centaurs.
"So it was our job to weaken it, and the Centaurs would deliver the final blow!"
"Not telling us was part of the strategy to catch Kirin off guard!"
"To deceive the enemy, you must first deceive your allies! Lady Milia, the woman who leads the S-Rank 1 team is truly exceptional!"
Everyone seemed convinced that they had won against Kirin thanks to Milia's strategy.
However, the person in question realized it wasn't her achievement.
"Who on earth...?"
Then a Centaur appeared, holding a Communication Magic Item in its hand.
'The act is over.'
"Act...?"
The leader of the Centaurs indeed said that through the magical tool.
'That was some impressive leadership. As expected of you. Ah, what? It's the least I could do for you. Happy to lend a hand. Ah, well then, until next time.'
The leader notices Milia.
But after just a glance, she leads her companions back to the forest.
"This victory belongs to us, Blood Glory!"
"Hail to the goddess Lady Milia, who brought us victory!"
"Hail!"
While receiving praise from the guild members, she alone was thinking of him, the one who had saved them from this tight spot.

Later, in my (Guildmaster's) room.
Milia approaches me.
"...It was you, wasn't it? You're the one who sent the Centaur reinforcements?"
I unfold the newspaper I was holding.
There, in huge letters, it was written that Milia and Blood Glory had defeated the SS-Rank monster Kirin.
"What's this? You guys took it down. That's what the paper says. That's something else, isn't it?"
Milia glares at me and then bites her lower lip.
"...This time, it's my complete defeat. My inexperience almost got many of my subordinates killed. And I've caused you trouble too... I'm sorry."
I sigh and say,
"What are you talking about? I can't make heads or tails of what you're saying."
"Huh...?"
"The unit that took it down was under your command, wasn't it?"
Milia widens her eyes and lets out a deep sigh.
"...So, you were just planning to cut through the chase."
Snapping, Milia stares me down and speaks up loudly.
"I'll consider this a favor!"
"But what favor? I didn't do anything."
"But! My guild will become even stronger! So strong that you won't be able to catch up, so strong that we won't need your help, we'll reach the highest peaks!"
"Alright. I'm looking forward to it."
Hmph!
Turning away, Milia leaves the room.
"As expected, Master."
Frederica, who had been waiting in the background, says with admiration.
"To secretly protect the daughter of a friend, the guild, and its members, you are truly kind."
"Don't misunderstand me. I only wanted to make a deal with him. Blood Glory will become a bigger Guild. When that happens, I'll have him repay the favor."
"Huh? You're saying I'm not doing anything? Master, you haven't done anything this time, have you?"
I spread out the newspaper and pretend not to hear.
Frederica says in a gentle voice.
"Truly, our Guild's Villainous Guildmaster is utterly kind-hearted."
