Volume 1 Chapter 22 [Noble SIDE] Throughout History and Around the World, 'despair' Is Probably Proof of Pettiness
They held a world conference, but this time, the 'main event' was the press conference.
What do the kings do when they gather? Well, you could say it's about 'adjusting' things.
The nobles kept throwing 'filthy curses' at the hero, so there's no way this would make it into the papers.
Every single day, it's like a parade of messengers coming to apologize at the hero's mansion.
But saying those mean things is a fact, and taking them back would be wrong.
Valzeil had apologized on the spot, but it was for what he'd done to Horace.
He wasn't bowing his head to the foolishness of the nobles there, just saying 'what he really thought'.
The kings might think, 'He should've apologized for the nobles' stupidity right there,' but Valzeil made it clear he has no intention of protecting his own country's nobles──he said, 'If they act up, I'll throw them in a dungeon.'
So, what to do about the mess after all those curses were spilled?
What kind of punishment for the ones who cursed?
At the world conference, those are the main things to talk about.
Rangella had gathered the world's nobles for the conference, and just used the 'press conference room' on the side, since she's not a 'king' herself──she can attend the meeting, but she can't vote.
Being in such a place would not be interesting for the not-so-intelligent Rangella, so it was decided that 'please decide for yourselves'.
So, the meeting goes on... and at the same time, the seeds of 'giving up' were starting to sprout.

"Damn it! We're the ones getting punished? This is wrong. This is so unfair!"
The nobles in the room now were 'waiting for their sentence,' locked up in a room at the world conference facility.
"His Majesty got so close to being equal with the hero. So, for me, the Margrave of Diamante Kingdom, to get punished? No way! Throwing me in a dungeon? Absolutely not!"
"Yeah! Do you even know how much I, from the Duke family close to the Mereride Kingdom, have done for our kingdom? Even a hero's getting way too cocky!"
Like you can tell from what they're saying, these people are nobles from Diamante Kingdom, and nobles from a kingdom close to it.
Also, there were 6 Duke families in the kingdom.
Besides 'Duke Rygisok,' led by Zayte, and 'Duke Lecoitenides,' led by Ashton, there are 4 more Duke families.
All of them are involved in the government, and honestly, unlike useless Zayte and Ashton, they're pretty 'normal,' so they never got the chance to get cocky because they were busy with work.
That's why they didn't come here... to begin with, if you knew anything about scheming, you'd use Zayte and Ashton as pawns to wait and watch how the hero moves──that's just strategy.
Well, when they started thinking stuff like, 'If they're weak to pressure, maybe we can try this,' it escalated to a world conference, which made them realize, 'These guys are dangerous.'
Also, most nobles here originally belonged to the Duke Rygisok or Duke Lecoitenides factions... well, birds of a feather flock together, right?
"His Majesty doesn't understand how precious our blood is. This means you're no longer the wise king you once were. Acting to show His Majesty the right path is justice!"
"Right! To turn King Valzeil His Majesty into the proper king... we'll use 'that.'"
"Is there anyone who can use communication magic?"
"Of course."
When someone raised their hand, a magic circle appeared right there.
They're asking for some communication magic, so we can probably use this to get our voice through.
"Orders! Summon the 'Astral Dragon Gai Gigant' to the capital of the Diamante Kingdom! The summoning stone is kept in the basement of Duke Lecoitenides' mansion! Hurry up and summon it, take control of the capital!"
Communication ended.
"Heh heh heh, with the summoning stone, controlling the monster that appears should be a breeze."
"To guide the king who doesn't appreciate us in the right direction, the people of the capital must make sacrifices."
And there are the nobles, laughing.
...A few seconds later, the door opened.
"Just now, there was a reaction from the communication magic! The intercepted message was about summoning the 'Astral Dragon Gai Gigant' and taking control of the capital!"
"""!?"""
A man dressed as a knight burst in and shouted.
The nobles trembled at his words.
"I didn't think anyone would do something so foolish at the world conference headquarters! They must want to be international criminals. Prepare yourselves!"

"...People are foolish, Master."
"They're not interested in the 'profits' the nobles create. That's why His Majesty showed 'virtue'. But... seeing that, some can't understand 'shame'. There are people who can't be accepted. It's a matter of character."
"After experiencing that pressure from me and my master, to do such... "
"No, their target now isn't us, it's His Majesty. It's true that the nobles, when united, have influence equal to the king. So, since we easily defeated His Majesty, the nobles are underestimating him."
"...Well, let's put His Majesty's face out there for now."
"Do that. By now, the cold sweat is for something ridiculous. Even at the press conference, the hand sweat was intense."
That's why there was no request for a handshake at the press conference.
