Volume 6 Chapter 74 The Bonds We've Made Weren't in Vain

"...Seriously. All this flirting in broad daylight, 'flirting'..."

Sitting back on the sofa and turning away, Catherine ignored Leon, who sighed.

 "It's fine, isn't it?"

 "No, it's not!"

 "Why?"

 "Just because!"

Turning away again, Catherine, Leon, and the others looked confused, shrugging.

Randy and the others, who had joined Catherine, were being led to the headmaster's office.

They were supposed to have an important talk with Lucius, but...

 Catherine pouted her lips.

 Leon looked exasperated.

Randy furrowed his brow, saying, "We're not flirting."

Liz lowered her face, blushing red.

Watching over the young people was Lucius.

So far, it doesn't seem like any serious talk will happen just yet.

Lucius, holding the handle, watched with a smile, enjoying the scene.

As soon as they moved to the headmaster's office, Lucius's first words were a complaint from Catherine, but his relaxed and free-spirited way of living, driven by natural emotion, was probably enviable to Lucius.

Even now, Catherine mutters "I'm not jealous" while scoffing, and Leon, looking tired, says "Whatever." Lucius, sitting in a personal chair, watches them with a gentle smile.

 Randy gives Lucius a side-eye.

"Stop grinning like that," Randy mutters, feeling annoyed.

They were called for an important talk, but now Catherine is complaining to them.

Even though they're to blame, it's understandable that Randy might want to tell Lucius to cut it out.

But Lucius, just smiling at Randy's gaze, dismisses him, and Randy gives up and looks away.

After a while... waiting for Catherine to calm down from her complaints, Randy sighed loudly.

"Why the hell are you here?"

Catherine scrunched her brows in annoyance at his tired, unimpressed voice.

"It's not 'why the hell are you here?'! You came because you need my brain, obviously."

Catherine raised her eyebrows and, shifting from her imitation of Randy's voice, exclaimed, "You should thank me!"

Randy, honestly confused, replied with a casual, "Sure, thanks."

 It was a bit dismissive.

Nevertheless, Catherine, who had lost the energy in her raised fist, slumped deeply back into the sofa, muttering, "Just understand, please."

"So, what's the point of your brain?"

 "The eclipse."

Catherine puffed up her cheeks and handed Randy a notebook.

It was a record of events and various details she had immediately written down after being born into this world and waking up to consciousness.

As Randy cautiously opened the notebook, his eyes were drawn to...

"Oh... when you don't want people to see, your writing gets sort of... casual?"

It was a Japanese that was, to put it kindly, not very beautiful.

"Ugh, it's terrible. It was hard to write like a child's hand."

Blushing furiously, Catherine tried to explain how difficult it had been, but Randy mostly ignored her and kept scrolling through the notebook.

It started with Liz's exile abroad and a vacation on a small island.

It detailed the management of flags for each romance target, even their personalities... the writing had its quirks, but the well-organized notebook was convincingly a guidebook.

What caught Randy and Liz's attention in the notebook was...

 "This..."

 "...the Braubelg Rebellion, right?"

Catherine let out an "Ah" and showed a guilty face, then apologized with a bow of her head.

Liz had forgotten that she could read ancient Japanese, as it was called.

"It's fine. We managed to avoid it..."

Liz laughed, but the content written in the guidebook was about a reckless rebellion against the kingdom by Braubelg.

Since they had managed to avoid it, there was no issue as Liz said.

But if there was a problem...

 Braubelg against the kingdom.

The situation remained the same, only now the opponent had switched to an empire, and it was ongoing.

Even if they avoided the kingdom, the empire would come attacking... it was like a huge tide wanting to destroy Braubelg.

"But this time, we have Victor, Hartfield, and Waldner with us."

...Liz's eyes had no more hesitation.

"I was going to say that too."

 "Saintly Lady, you shouldn't lie."

Catherine pouted at Leon's surprised face, "It's true!"

"Anyway. Forget about what's already happened, and winning battles..."

Catherine flipped the page and pointed at a sentence that said, "found it."

What was written there was a short but important sentence.

'Three days after the start of the third year... Eleonora will revive with the solar eclipse.'

Randy and Liz looked at each other after reading it.

 "In other words..."

"Yes. The solar eclipse is in 2 days."

Catherine's words made Randy finally understand.

The feeling of getting Ellie's body back and going to school with the two of them.

"Get ready. I'll go with the headmaster on that day."

 "...Why?"

Catherine sighed at Randy's voice, which sounded so puzzled, "You know..."

"'Why?' is not the question! From what you guys said, it's definitely the second? First? Oh, whatever, the prince is after you guys, right?"

Catherine frowned and puffed out her cheeks, saying there would be someone to stop them if something happened.

Randy was surprised and frozen by the unexpected proposal.

 "You're in danger?"

"I know. If it gets dangerous, I'll run away with the headmaster, so don't expect too much."

Catherine shrugged, but Randy and Liz bowed their heads in gratitude for her kindness.

 "We owe you."

"Lady Catherine, thank you very much."

Catherine froze this time at the unexpected sight of the two of them bowing their heads.

"I, I'm not doing it for you guys... But, such a dangerous thing, Lady Annabelle and Cory... Now that I think about it, where's Cory?"

Cory told Catherine that he would be returning by going up the river by boat.

It seems that he had time because the opening ceremony was extended, so he would return while doing field work, which had been his dream, using the techniques he learned in Victor.

From the town along the great river to the capital, it's only about a day's walk.

Moreover, the beasts that appear aren't too strong.

It's a perfect environment for someone's first solo field work.

They're probably on their way back by now.
