Volume 5 Chapter 35 ACT.166 Ripple (IV)
A soft breeze blew through the afternoon in Shaura.
Belta sat on the large window frame, feeling the lively sounds of the trading city below mix with the exotic scents carried by the wind into his room.
He surprisingly preferred this scene over the dull royal capital or the artificial feel of Benetonash.
Even though he had given up his claim to the throne, he was still a royal by blood.
"The privileges of royalty should be used for the people, huh?"
The words of the late king slipped from his lips, bringing a soft smile to his face.
With his noble spirit, he couldn't feel anything but good watching the lively townsfolk.
As he played with a gold coin in his hand, a colleague who had just woken up appeared at that moment.
"Hey."
Alfonso scratched his messy bedhead, realizing the sun's position, and gave a half-hearted greeting.
"Looks like you slept well, at least."
"Yeah, whatever."
Belta's honest comment didn't seem to sit well with Alfonso.
"You said you'd be busy from the afternoon tomorrow, so it's not too bad."
"I didn't say you should sleep in all day."
He was in Shaura for work, not on vacation.
Belta's words made Alfonso reflect that he shouldn't let his guard down too much.
"So, why the afternoon?"
After a pause since last night's fierce battle, Alfonso flopped into a chair with luxurious decorations in the room.
The comfortable seat reminded him of the hard chairs at the Holy Church headquarters, and he thought they should spend more on chairs.
Just then, Belta spoke up.
"I wanted to give enough time for the information to spread properly."
In other words, it was the time needed for *last night's events* to reach the right ears.
He set that time to half a day.
"Spread to whom?"
"The *third party*."
As soon as she said that, Belta sat down on the window frame and quickly got up without hesitation, walking out of the room.
Belta di Zeguel is from a royal family.
His true belief was to serve the common people with the rights and power she had.
That's why she and some others don't see eye to eye.
"Geez, the king really knows how to rub me the wrong way."
He stood up so suddenly he nearly fell out of his chair, missing Belta's inner thoughts.
"Wait, no, explain properly?!"
Alfonso hurriedly followed his always-briefing colleague's back, trying to catch up.
