Volume 5 Chapter 37 ACT.168 Three Swords William Gradius (Ⅱ)

"Well then──what do you mean by double standards, Elder?"

In response to Belta's question, the Elder of Gradius tilted his head and said, "Huh?" with a puzzled look.

He then pointed to a chair across the table, inviting Belta to sit down.

Belta quietly took a seat, but one person was completely lost in the situation.

 "Uh, what?"

Suddenly, without knowing why, Alfonso found himself barging into the home of the town's owner, and now it seemed like they were having tea.

 He was confused.

 "Where's my chair?"

There were only 2 chairs, and he looked around nervously.

All he saw were the cold, piercing gazes of the people in the mansion.

Feeling sorry for them, Alfonso silently apologized, but then he noticed Belta pointing behind her with just her eyes.

Sighing at being a servant again, he stood behind Belta.

As they waited for Belta and the others to get ready, the Elder finally spoke.

"Double standards have a bad reputation. I just felt it was fine either way."

 "Either way?"

"Right now, we just need to remove the disease that is infesting Shaura."

With a deep, serious voice, the Elder placed his hands on the table.

 ──What matters is the result.

There was some truth to that.

Except for the fact that the Holy Church and the King's side were not getting along at all.

"You know about the conflict between us, the Holy Church, and the King's side. If we do that, it could lead to a clash just to *save face*."

They say the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but that's not always true.

Just because there's a common enemy doesn't mean cooperation is possible.

Especially in cases like this, where the results could be seen as *achievements*.

If the King's side were to defeat the Reincarnators──no, the Reincarnator faction──without relying on the Holy Church, it would cause a big problem.

As a result, Belta strongly suspects that the future holds a very high possibility of the return of that hell.

The elder of Gradius is hard to read, but to uncover the truth, Belta had no choice but to ask this.

"Do you know that the root cause of that *Aldra Rebellion* lies with the king's side, and you are saying this on purpose?"
