"Can't [magic] usually do things like make stuff bigger or smaller?"
"No, you can."
Benjamin said, brushing off the denial like it was nothing.
'What's that about?'
Cain pouted a little.
"Sorry, sorry, I'll explain properly. When you want to make stuff bigger or smaller, usually you mix those words into the 'spell'. Like for 'Ice Wall,' there's a lot going on, so the part that says '...following the will...' gets changed to '...following the greater will...' or '...gather and appear...' changes to '...come closer and gather to appear...' But that gets long, and if the image isn't clear, it wastes MP without actually making it bigger."
Benjamin took a sip of tea,.
"So, I found a way to increase the MP used by 'Circulation' to make it bigger. When you use 'Circulation,' the MP cost is like one and a half times, but the effect is about twice as big. Well, some say it's all about your [magic] image, so it's not always the same."
'Hmm, hmm, gotta try different ways then.'
Cain listened while thinking about the future.
"Also, the more you use [skills], the easier it is to level them up, so keep training every day."
"Yes, I'll do my best."
"──One thing I forgot. You'll do the 'meditation' I'm about to teach every day too. It helps MP recover faster and it's super useful. It's simple: sit cross-legged, use 'Circulation,' but instead of gathering your own My 'Mana' like in 'Concentration,' gather the 'Mana' around you and circulate that. Sadly, it's kinda hard to teach, so you gotta practice and figure it out yourself."
Benjamin kinda gave up explaining at the end.
"Y-yeah, I'll try hard."
'Yep, Benjamin's still a ruthless demon.'

Two days after the New Year, Benjamin left.
'Training was tough as hell, but when I finally used [magic] for the first time, the feeling was crazy good.'
Watching Benjamin's carriage go, Cain thought back on all the rough training days.
"Alright, alright, time to burn all my MP on magic till it's gone──"
After saying bye to Benjamin, he moved straight to the yard where he'd been training and started leveling up his Earth magic.
"Ah, gotta take this off or my MP's gonna drain super fast."
He tooks off the "MP sucker" thing he wore during training.
"But MP doesn't come back unless I rest... What now? Eh, whatever. If I run out, I'll just rest and keep going."
Like usual, Cain did "Circulation" and cast Stone Bullet.
Three little stones shot out.
And hit the outside wall.
"Ah, no ice wall today... Without a target, Stone Bullet's kinda risky. Also, I can only use 'Stone' or 'Hole.' Stone just makes rocks. I'll go with Hole."
Cain cast the "Hole" spell.
"By my will, open──Hole."
A hole the size of a manhole, about 10 cm deep, opened right in front of Cain.
"So plain... Ugh, already out of MP? MP 20 is no good."
Cain staggered back into the room and flopped onto the bed.
