Volume 2 Chapter 30 The Exiled Hero and Another Hero Party VI [Higami III]

The Hero Higami met Suigetsu again in the inn's dining room.

 "So, you were here, Suigetsu!"

"...It's been a while, Lady Higami."

 Suigetsu looked sad.

For her, Higami was a former party member who had kicked her out.

She couldn't shake her uncomfortable feelings.

"Good, I wanted to talk to you."

 "To me...?"

 Lawrence nodded at this.

"Looks like we're in the way! Suigetsu, let's step aside!"

 "Ah..."

Suigetsu didn't want Lawrence and the others to leave.

She didn't know why Higami wanted to talk, but she didn't want to be alone with her.

 "Hey, wait a minute!"

 Ulgar stopped them.

"Lady, what do you want with Suigetsu from my party?"

"Party members...? Wow, Suigetsu, you've joined a new party!"

"So what? People can't live alone. Don't you understand that simple rule, Hero?"

"Ugh...! Who do you think you are! OUTSIDERS should leave!"

Higami roughly pulled Suigetsu's hand and said,

"Suigetsu, come back. That's an order!"

 "Huh? Wait, come back...?"

"I mean it. I want you back in my party instead of this one!"

Suigetsu was shocked by Higami's suggestion.

Just days ago, she had been kicked out──why ask her to come back now?

She wasn't sure why, but the proud Higami was trying to bring her back.

This must mean something was going on.

 Still...

 "...No-degozaru."

"Huh...? What did you just say?"

 "N-No-degozaru. I... I want to stay here-degozaru..."

She hadn't spent that much time with Lawrence's group compared to the Far East Hero Party.

Even so, she wanted to be with them.

They were strong, kind to their friends, and most of all... warm.

She wanted to defeat the Demon King with this Golden Hero and his team.

But more than that, she wanted to repay Act... the one who saved her.

That's why Suigetsu didn't want to leave Lawrence and the others.

"Don't... you DARE get cocky with me...!"

Higami snapped when Suigetsu refused her offer.

"You're just Suigetsu! How DARE you turn down the great Lady Higami, the Fire Hero!? Don't get full of yourself, you ugly cow!"

 "L-Lady Higami... please, calm down..."

The Light Hero tried to stop her, but Higami just shouted louder.

"Fine! Then I'll drag you back by force!"

She drew her sword and stepped toward Suigetsu—then stopped.

 "Huh!? Wh-Where's my sword!?"

She definitely had it a second ago.

But now... it was gone. Sword and sheath, completely vanished.

 "Young lady!"

A big blond man stood in front of her.

"Blades are meant for evil! Isn't that right?"

In his hand was Higami's sword, still in its sheath.

 "No way... When did you...?"

"Here, I'll give it back. But waving swords around like this is dangerous, you know!"

 Higami froze in shock.

She didn't even notice her sword was taken—or that the sheath was pulled out.

Worse, she couldn't even see him move.

A man stronger than her, the mighty Fire Hero... made her chest twist with jealousy.

"Who the hell do you think you are!?"

 "Me? I'm—"

Before he could say "Lawrence," Higami cut him off.

"I don't care who you are! That girl belongs to me! Give her back!"

"I can't! She doesn't want to go! And people aren't things!"

 "Why you...! That's IT—!"

Higami lunged forward to punch him—

"You two, stop it, not here!"

 ""Mr. Act!""

The black-haired young man, Act, heard the noise and came to the cafeteria.

"You're the Hero from the East, right?"

 "Y-Yes... Who are you!?"

He glanced at Lawrence and quickly understood the situation.

"I'm like their manager. I was the one who scouted Suigetsu."

"You can't just do whatever you want!"

 She tried to punch him.

But Act's glare was strong, and she felt scared.

"How about this? Our parties fight, and the winning party gets Suigetsu."

 Higami grinned at Act's suggestion.

"Sure. Let's settle this with a fight."

 Act smiled back at her.

 "No second thoughts, right?"

"Of course. I could take on that blonde and all his friends by myself."

"Is that so? By the way, do you know this big guy's name?"

"Huh? No. He looks like an Adventurer."

Her problem was that she only cared about herself and her pride.

There was Lawrence's party, a group that got in her way.

She only knew that and didn't care about who they were.

 "Um, Act..."

 Suigetsu nervously spoke to Act.

"Don't worry. Just leave it to me. Or do you think your friends will lose?"

 "Suigetsu! Leave it to us!"

Lawrence and his Hero Party nodded confidently.

They knew how strong they were.

 Suigetsu nodded back.

"Okay. I will arrange the place. How about in 2 hours?"

 "Sounds good. We'll win anyway."

 "What if you lose?"

 "Hmph! No way we're losing!"

 "Such confidence."

"Of course! We're the strongest Hero Party!"

"So, you think you can't lose, no matter what?"

"Of course! If I lose... well, I might just become Suigetsu's little sidekick."

Act smirked and nodded, saying, "I see."
