Volume 3 Chapter 10 The Useless Dog Maid Supports Me as Guildmaster
Frederica, the maid of the Villainous Guildmaster.
While her master is in the Royal Capital, she is in charge of the Guild.
At first, she tried to handle everything alone.
But now, things are different.
"Till, you are fired as of today. Thank you for your hard work."
In the Guildmaster's room, the beautiful silver-haired Frederica tells Till, a Guild member, this.
"What! Why...!"
"I have no more words for you as you leave the Guild."
Frederica says coldly, and Till's eyes fill with tears.
"Um... Please don't be sad, Till!"
"Yui-Yui..."
Yui, the apprentice, hands a clipboard to Till with a smile.
"Here's your new job!"
"Huh? A new... job?"
Yui explains to the confused Till.
"Yes! Ms. Frederica... I mean, the Guildmaster thought seriously about your skills and found you a better workplace!"
"Sister... for me...?"
Till looks at Frederica, who still has her usual cold expression.
"See! Guildmaster, smile! Smile!"
Yui says, and Frederica gives a stiff smile.
"You worked hard. Use your skills at your new job."
"Yes! I understand! Sister... thank you!"
With a bright smile, Till leaves the room.
Frederica lets out a sigh.
"You did well kicking her out!"
Yui hugs Frederica.
"Just a kind word would help! The Guild members will be happy! Just like earlier!"
"Haa... Was that really okay?"
Her previous girlfriend just got fired and handed over a file for a new job.
"It's fine! If you do it like that, she will understand that Ms. Frederica is looking out for her. If you don't say it, your feelings won't get through, right?"
...This girl was right.
No matter how much she wished for it in her heart, it wouldn't reach the other person at all.
Even if she pushed them away, just stating the facts wouldn't convey her thoughts.
"...I couldn't even do something this simple, huh, I'm."
She thought she was doing her best as the Act in charge of the Guild.
She felt ashamed of herself for overlooking such a simple fact... Frederica did.
"It's okay!"
Yui grabbed Frederica's hand and smiled brightly.
"If you couldn't do it until now, you can just start doing it from now on! Right?"
Looking at her smile, Frederica's stiff mouth relaxed.
"...You're right."
"That's right! Let's do our best! I'll support you as your assistant!"
Thud!
Yui patted her own chest.
A girl much weaker and smaller than Frederica.
But her presence felt somehow reassuring.
...The words of Katrina and Act echoed in Frederica's mind.
To follow her own path as a Guildmaster.
"...Yui."
"What is it?"
She had never relied on anyone before.
But with Yui by her side, she managed to push Till away successfully.
It's natural that she has things she lacks.
She is not Act, after all.
"I'm not good at smiling. Can you spread smiles for me instead?"
Paa!
Yui nodded with a big smile like a blooming rose.
"Yes!"
---
Frederica went to the Adventurers Guild Association in the Royal Capital with the head receptionist, Katrina.
They attended a meeting where Guildmasters from various places gathered to report on their recent activities and share challenges.
"Haa... I'm tired."
After the meeting, Frederica and the others walked down the night road.
"Hey, wanna hang out somewhere?"
"Yeah... sure."
To be honest, she wants to ask about Act's whereabouts in the Royal Capital.
But she shakes her head and says it's a no-go.
"How about we grab a bite to eat at a restaurant before heading back?"
"Three cheers!"
Frederica and the others visit a restaurant near the castle.
"Quite a mix of people here, huh?"
Not just Humans, but Beastmen and Elves too, other races were enjoying their conversations.
"Big sisters! Aren't you Frederica and Katrina's sisters?"
As Frederica and the others sit down, a young man wearing a cook's hat approaches them.
"Jeff, it's been a while."
He used to belong to the Gem of Heavenly Gift.
After Act was exiled, he re-started his career here.
"Ah, right. Jeff's the head chef here, isn't he?"
"Yes! Thanks to you, I'm enjoying my work!"
Jeff says with a bright smile.
There seemed to be no deceit in it.
"Oh? Where's Act?"
"He's out on a trip right now."
She briefly updates him on the current state of the Gem of Heavenly Gift.
"Heh! A branch in the Royal Capital! So Act is here in the Royal Capital now. He should have just told me!"
"He's too shy, you know. He's such a bashful guy."
They all laugh together in agreement.
"I'll do my best to cook for you sisters!"
Jeff bows and returns to the kitchen.
"Seeing him happy and doing well makes me glad."
Frederica mutters these words softly, almost without thinking.
They were words that genuinely slipped out.
"You've changed, you know."
"What do you mean, popping out of nowhere?"
"I think you've become much cuter than before."
"Enough with the flattery."
Frederica says, but secretly wags her dog tail from her bottom, fluffily and happily.
Before long, their dinner is served.
After savoring the delicious meal, they enjoy the restaurant's pride, a glass of wine.
"Today... um, thanks, Katrina. You really helped me out."
Frederica said with slightly flushed cheeks from the wine.
"If I were my usual grumpy self, I wouldn't have done well in talks with the other Guilds. Um... you really helped me a lot... what's with that face?"
Katrina looked as if she had just been hit by a surprise.
"Oh, no... I'm just surprised that you're actually complimenting someone."
"Hmph. Yui taught me. Those little words are surprisingly important."
Katrina's eyes widened, but then she smiled softly.
"Really, you've changed."
"Is that so?"
"Yes. It's a very good sign. Let's keep it up!"
"...Hmph. You sound so proud."
But indeed, Frederica felt like her work had become much easier than before.
She used to think relying on others was out of the question.
But now... even if it feels awkward, she's started to depend on people.
"I feel like I've become weaker."
"You silly. There's no such thing as a strong Human in this world."
"...I see. That's true."
Even a perfect person like Act has their flaws.
"No one is a perfect Human, huh?"
"What's that?"
"It's something my old boss used to say at my last job. ...It's really true."
Frederica murmured softly, remembering the Transcendent man.
