Volume 3 Chapter 11 The Useless Dog Maid, Slowly Becoming More Familiar
Since being put in charge of the Guild from Act, more days have passed.
Maid Frederica heads to the Guild Hall in the morning.
"""Big sis, good morning!"""
Early-rising Guild members are already at work and greet Frederica.
Before, their greetings were cold and simple...
"Good morning, Zali, Uva, Gamel."
Calling out each Guild member's name and then smiling.
Guild members are flustered by Frederica's rarely-seen smile.
"Y-You look so pretty today too-ssu!"
"Thanks a lot. Even if it's just a compliment, it makes me happy."
"No! It's not just a compliment-ssu! Right?"
""Yeah, it is!""
Frederica casually talks with the Guild members, outside of work.
"You all are doing guard duty first thing in the morning, huh? I hear pirates have been spotted lately. Be careful out there."
""Got it-ssu!""
Frederica turns around and heads into the Guildmaster's room.
"Wow~... I was so surprised. People really change."
Zali looks at the two and speaks.
"Yeah. Big sis, she was super cold before, but lately she's been talking to us a lot more."
"Exactly! I feel way more close to her now!"
"Hey, don't go too far! Big sis is Act's girl, so you better not fall for her."
""That's right... Sigh...""
Meanwhile, Frederica sits at her desk, going through the piles of papers.
"Yes, Frederica." "Good morning!"
Receptionist chief Katrina and Act's disciple Yui enter Frederica's room.
"Good morning! The weather's nice today too."
"Yes! Perfect for laundry! Frederica, did you hang the sheets?"
Yui casually chatted with Frederica.
"Of course. A top-tier maid always irons sheets, even if the master doesn't use them."
"I see! No wonder you're Ms. Frederica!"
Yui and Frederica smiled as they chatted about everyday things.
Katrina looked on happily, her eyes narrowing.
"What is it?"
"Oh, nothing. Let's just start the meeting, shall we?"
Frederica is currently sharing the duties of Guildmaster with 2 others.
Katrina mainly handles negotiations, while Yui takes care of the finer details within the Guild.
But it's not like they leave everything to them.
Every morning, they hold a meeting first thing.
They decide on the schedule and divide the tasks among the 3 of them, setting up a more efficient way to work.
"That's all. Is there anything else you'd like to report?"
"I'm fine!" "I'm good too."
Frederica nodded and looked at both of them before speaking.
"It's hot today. Make sure everyone, not just the Guild Members, but the staff too, stays hydrated."
""Understood!""
"I know you understand, but I'm including you two as well. Don't get dehydrated and cause trouble for everyone around you."
Chuckle, Yui and Katrina laughed.
"What...?"
""Just teasing~?""
Giggle, the two laughed happily.
There was no sense of being made fun of.
"Not causing trouble for those around... You've started to say that too."
"You did collapse from lack of sleep the other day, didn't you~?"
"Uh..."
Frederica's dog ears drooped.
"That was... really, I'm sorry..."
"Don't worry about it~"
Frederica realized she was being teased.
"Stop messing around and let's get to work, protecting Master's precious Guild today."

Frederica had changed since the day she collapsed from lack of sleep.
Specifically, she had started to take an interest in others.
She would exchange a few words with Guild Members when she met them.
She even started conversations when there was no particular business to discuss.
Frederica used to think that everyday conversations were unnecessary.
The conversation with the master is what should be cherished, and talking to anyone else is just a waste...
But... that was a mistake.
"Zali, are you okay?"
"Big Sis...!"
Frederica was in the mountains.
She had come to help Zali and the others on their carriage escort mission.
The carriage had been attacked by bandits on the way.
Even though they were strong individually, they were struggling because they were outnumbered.
Then, Frederica appeared dramatically.
She instantly froze the bandits with her ice magic.
"Big Sis... why are you here?"
"Your friends said you were late. I couldn't believe you serious ones would slack off, so I thought I'd come check on you."
Zali and the others gaped in shock.
She knew about the Guild Members' friendships and even cared enough to check on them...
This was something the old Frederica would never have done.
And... like Act, she was showing her care for her subordinates, truly acting as a Guildmaster...
Zali and the others were moved.
"WAAAAGH! BIG SIS!"
With tears streaming down their faces, Zali and the others hugged Frederica's waist.
"S-STOP! LET GO!"
"We'll follow you, Big Sis!"
"I swore loyalty to Mr. Act, but I swear loyalty to you too, Big Sis!"
The Guild Members cried like children...
Frederica felt a warmth in her heart.
"Next time, if you're in trouble, just use the magic tool to contact me right away. What do you think I gave it to you for?"
Zali and the others couldn't help but laugh at her words, so similar to Act's.
"Alright, let's go home."
"But, Big Sis. The carriage is late."
"The other side must be angry... what should we do?"
Frederica sighed, exasperated.
"You don't need to worry about that. It's the boss's job to take the blame for their subordinates' mistakes."

The 3 of them hugged Frederica tightly.
"NO, GET AWAY! MY BODY BELONGS TO MASTER! I DON'T WANT TO BE UNFAITHFUL!"
Frederica's silly words made Zali and the others laugh.
"What's so funny? Honestly..."
Even while saying this, they couldn't help but smirk at her ridiculous lines.
"Big Sis, you really look better when you're laughing!"
"Ah..."
Frederica remembered Act's words.
──"You should be smiling more."
"I... I was smiling. Naturally... I was smiling, Master."
Before, she could only smile in front of Act.
But now, she found herself smiling freely, even when he wasn't around.
She wondered if this change would make her Master happy.
"Master... I want to see you soon. I want to hear your voice..."
As Frederica walked back to the Guild with the Guild members, she thought about this.
